London, UK – JOHN WETTON is the lead singer of ASIA, UK and the “Red” era of KING CRIMSON, with an extensive solo catalogue, which now includes “Live via Satellite”

This 2 CD set collects together both of John Wetton’s acoustic solo concerts for radio broadcasts. The XM radio broadcast was only available for sale via his website over 10 years ago and has never had a commercial release.

The Swedish radio broadcast (previously unreleased) was thought lost in a fire, until a duplicate of the master tapes was found thanks to a long and tireless search by John Wetton’s fans.

Of the release, John Wetton said: “Both of these shows are from the same time period, but come from very different sources. The first, a Circus tent-like venue in a funfair in Stockholm: the second, a state-of-the-art facility in Washington DC, so the repertoire is similar, but venues could not be more different. Recording production is superb on both, it’s a document of a slice of my life.”

As a lead singer, bassist and songwriter, John Wetton initially rose to fame with King Crimson and after that Wetton co-founded UK. In the early 1980s he was the frontman of the super-group Asia, his biggest commercial success. ASIA’s self-titled debut album was the biggest selling album in the world in 1982 and the band continues to this day.

He later formed the duo Icon with Geoff Downes (YES and The Buggles) and has had a successful solo career releasing a large number of studio and live albums, including the recent compilation The Studio Recordings Anthology.

John Wetton’s “Live via Satellite” will be released 9th October 2015 and is part of the ongoing release schedule of his own Primary Purpose label, working via Cherry Red.

Los Angeles – Much to the excitement of guitar players and musicians worldwide, John Jorgenson will release Divertuoso, a limited edition, 3-CD box set of three separate, all-new full-length albums featuring three of Jorgenson’s band configurations (gypsy jazz, bluegrass and electric) via Cleopatra Records on October 16, 2015.

Jorgenson’s career has been wide-ranging, including playing lead guitar in Elton John’s band for seven years; being a co-founder of both the groundbreaking The Hellecasters and The Desert Rose Band; being widely known as the U.S. Ambassador of Gypsy Jazz; and portraying Django Reinhardt in the Hollywood feature film Head In The Clouds. Jorgenson has recorded or toured with the likes of Bonnie Raitt, Luciano Pavarotti, Bob Dylan, Roy Orbison, The Byrds, Johnny Cash, Bob Seger, Willie Nelson and many others. Jorgenson is a GRAMMY Award-winner and has won many other awards, including being three-time Academy of Country Music (ACM) Guitarist of the Year.

Totaling 40 tracks in all, Divertuoso showcases Jorgenson’s incredible virtuosity as both a musician and songwriter in a variety of styles. Considered a master of the electric and acoustic guitar, and many other instruments, Jorgenson plays 12 instruments on the box set (acoustic guitar, electric guitar, mandolin, bouzouki, clarinet, mandocello, soprano sax, bass, hammond organ, bassoon, keyboards, percussion), as well as vocals, and he composed a majority of the material. This release is a singular accomplishment not only for Jorgenson, but also for the guitar community as a whole. His mastery of these three disparate styles (gypsy jazz, bluegrass and rock) is on full display throughout these recordings.

“I feel like a huge overview of my musical life is contained in this project,” Jorgenson said. “It incorporates many of the diverse styles that all co-exist in my world. Had I thought very long beforehand, I could have easily gotten overwhelmed at the amount of actual work it would take to create such a large body of work, but it really came together pretty naturally. I’m both relieved and proud to have Divertuoso out in the world.”

Returning is the latest recording by gypsy jazz veterans the John Jorgenson Quintet. Their music, both live and recorded, is a time-and-space transcending experience. All but two of the album’s 13 tracks were written by Jorgenson himself. Jorgenson plays acoustic guitar, bouzouki, clarinet, mandolin, mandocello, and soprano sax on the record, and sings on one song. The New York Times has been quoted as saying: “Jorgenson is perhaps the best jazz guitarist alive.”

The 15-track From The Crow’s Nest by bluegrass supergroup J2B2 (John Jorgenson Bluegrass Band featuring Herb Pedersen, Jon Randall & Mark Fain) was recorded at Sheryl Crow’s home barn studio in Nashville over the course of three days. Pedersen (The Dillards and Old And In The Way) is a legendary vocal arranger and musician who also co-founded The Desert Rose Band with Jorgenson. Hit songwriter Randall, a former member of Emmylou Harris’ Nash Ramblers, has toured with Earl Scruggs and Sam Bush. Fain is the long-time bassist for Ricky Skaggs & Kentucky Thunder. The record includes lead and harmony vocals by Jorgenson, Randall and Pedersen, and when the three sing together, a magical 60’s/70’s folk air transforms the typical bluegrass “high lonesome harmonies” into an entirely different dimension. In addition to his vocal work, Jorgenson plays mandolin and acoustic guitar. Songwriters contributing to the record include Jorgenson, Pedersen, Randall (co-writer of the CMA Song of the Year, “Whiskey Lullaby,” with Bill Anderson, included in this set), Rodney Crowell, Guy Clark, JD Souther, Mitchell Jayne and Rodney Dillard (members of The Dillards) and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Member Chris Hillman (The Byrds, The Flying Burrito Brothers).

The third album, Gifts From The Flood, is a John Jorgenson solo electric record. Jorgenson plays everything on it (guitars, bass, Hammond organ, clarinet, bassoon, keyboards, and percussion) with the exception of drums, which are played by Greg Morrow. The concept is an interesting one; Jorgenson had many guitars and amps completely ruined in the Nashville flood of 2010. As the guitars were restored and each one came back to him, new songs seemed to flow out of each one. The gratitude Jorgenson had just for having them back is captured on this record. Each song was named simply after the guitar that was used to create it, and all of the songs were written by Jorgenson alone. With everything from straight-ahead rock, to country-flavored picking (including a special guest appearance by Brad Paisley on one track), to cool surf-flavored grooves, Gifts From The Flood is anything but standard.

Audio Fidelity To Release Tangerine Dream “Thief” Original Motion Picture Soundtrack On 180g Vinyl

“An impressive soundtrack…a signature film score and certainly one of the best electronic scores of the 80’s.”

Camarillo, CA – Marshall Blonstein’s Audio Fidelity will be releasing Tangerine Dream’s Theif OST on 180g vinyl in November 2015. Tangerine Dream is among the most successful electronic groups of all time. The band was chosen by Michael Mann to write and produce the original score for Thief, his 1981 directorial debut. Tangerine Dream added their patented pulses, blips and whooshes to the film’s highly stylized visual scenes. Up to this time, no one had ever used a sequencer for a neo-noir film…this score is one of the most unusual of its kind for American cinema.

Rather than a full orchestral score, Tangerine Dream’s techno-based score uses synthesizer, percussion and electric guitar making for a fascinating and exciting soundtrack. Tracks like “Dr. Destructo” have a fast-paced percussion tempo. An engaging melody on “Beach Theme” makes it one of the album’s most familiar and popular tracks, while “Trap Feeling” has a delicacy that compares favorably to Brian Eno’s Music for Films.

There were two versions of the album only the US release included “Confrontation” an actual rock song of guitars, bass and drums written by Craig Safan. Band member, Edgar Froese stated at the time,”It was a pleasure working on the film because the exotic and shifting moods of Thief were perfectly suited to the kind of music we played…and yet we knew the music would also stand on its own.”

The soundtrack and the movie are inseparable. The music and movie have grown beyond cult classic status becoming an important part of the collected works of Tangerine Dream and Mann.

Paris, France – Completing the series of vinyl reissues, French music legends Magma will be issuing their iconic 1975 live album Magma Live Hhaï on limited edition vinyl. This double LP will be released by Jazz Village Records on October 2, 2015.

Magma has joined up with Jazz Village to celebrate its 45th anniversary with an impressive series of new and classic releases. A series of new and classic Magma titles has been scheduled for release every month from September 2014 to November 2015. A legendary French group if ever there was one, Magma has continued to influence the course of contemporary music since their debut in 1969.

After the departure in autumn of 1974 of Jannick TOP and most of the other members of the band, MAGMA rose phoenix-like from the ashes with a new, hot, line-up which saw the musical opportunity lying before it. After long rehearsals Christian VANDER realized that he had yet another exceptional groupand the decision was taken to record the first MAGMA live album. The recording, made in June 1975 at the Taverne de l’Olympia, perfectly demonstrates the incredible impact made by MAGMA. Absolutely dedicated to the music of Christian VANDER, who by that time had reached the summit of his art, the band plays as if it were one man and sweeps all before it in its triumphant passage. Whether it was a new arrangement of any of the old pieces (KOHNTARK, KOBAIA, MEKANIK) or a previously-unheard piece (HHAI, LIHNS), the sound of MAGMA has never been heard more powerfully as on this incredible recording. Although it remains difficult to point to any one performance as being outstanding, it would nevertheless be difficult not to react to the mind-blowing performance by Didier Lockwood, whose violin playing contributes so greatly to the profound originality of this magnificent double-album.

Stand out tracks:

Says Simon Phillips, “It’s really interesting to do a second project with Milen. In this new project ‘Touching the Divine’, musically the composition has developed, it’s developed from the first record… and that’s good to see.”

Says Tim Pierce, “This project is great, because it’s very, very challenging and musical, in a way like Queen is musical… and it’s got all of these layers and colors. Musically it’s very fun, because it travels a lot of different places.”

Says Joseph Williams, “It’s wonderful to explore working with Milen. The project has a wonderful message, accompanied with some beautiful music and some great rock ‘n’ roll – the musicians in this project are top ‘noch.”

Says Nathan East, “This project is very special to me, because of the nature of the message of the project. I was very inspired and happy with the idea, because the message has value and meaning and I am about that. The word ‘inspirational’ is what I use to describe this project.”

Says Carl Sentence “There is a lot of music and a sense of depth in Milen’s songs. They are not ordinary. They are very beautiful… and the way these songs are composed is very, very good.”

Says John Payne, “It’s incredible opportunity to work with such great people – Nathan East, Tim Pierce… Wonderful songs – my favorite so far is ‘Mind Projection’, but there are a lot of great songs, a lot of great melodies and some great playing. You’ve got some world class players – Simon, Tim, Nathan East…and Joseph Williams singin’, I mean – he is amazing!”

Says Milen Vrabevski, “This is a super band, which every producer would be happy to work with, and it gave a very good finish to our Intelligent Music Project, in this case – number III. I was enormously fortunate to be the author and producer of the whole project. The idea we want to share with the audience through this album is simple – we must find the Divine within ourselves in order to become the successful individual we want to be. We try to show how to do that.”

Brooklyn, NY/Studio City, CA – Lightyear Entertainment is pleased to announce the formation of a new music label, Silver Sleeve Records.

Silver Sleeve will be helmed by Lightyear VP and former Columbia Records A&R man Sky Spooner. It will focus on indie alt/rock bands, alt/country bands and active rock bands, in particular from (but not limited to) the vibrant Brooklyn music scene.

“Lightyear has always been eclectic in its releases, working in a variety of genres including rock, pop, r&b, hip-hop, reggae, world music, and jazz. Silver Sleeve is going to be different. We will have a distinct label identity. We will be looking for Hard/Fast/Loud/Punk/Psych/Surf/Metal music from stunning emerging artists all over the globe,” said Silver Sleeve President Sky Spooner.

The first band signed to the new label is The Giraffes. From 1996 to 2015, the Brooklyn-based Giraffes have shredded, burned, and leveled every audience from their Brooklyn hometown to the Sunset Strip, and back again. Lead singer Aaron Lazar and guitar wizard Damien Paris form the focus of the band supported by the locomotive rhythm section of maniac drummer Andrew Totolos and latest Giraffe, Josh Taggart on bass.

The first release of the new album from The Giraffes, Usury, will be released digitally worldwide through Caroline/Universal Music Group on October 2, 2015. The CD and vinyl LP will be released January 29, 2016. The LP will be clear, audiophile vinyl, with an included download card, and of course packaged with a silver sleeve.

After a very successful Indiegogo campaign, Drea. M shot the video in the course of two full nights at American Steel Studios in Oakland. The crew included LP Satsuki Murashige and Producer Dimitri Moore. Because she had a relatively short timeframe within which to shoot the video, the energy was intense and focused, and much like the concept behind the video, aspects of the performance were physically and psychologically challenging, pushing Drea. M to the edge of her comfort zone. She explains, “One example of this was when I chose to be tied up and suspended in order to sing in an upside-down, full-harness shibari rope suspension. While this shot enters the video for just a short period, a lot of time, communication, and safety awareness went into the preparation for this shot. The intensity of the moment — when I began to sing while suspended upside-down, knowing I had very little time to capture the lines while in such a restrictive harness — lent itself to the energy of the performance. It was a total rush for me…frightening, exciting, and liberating all at once.”

Drea. M will be releasing her new EP December 1st, and having the CD release at Awaken Café in Oakland, CA on Dec 3rd, 2015. Says Drea. M, “It is a true honor to be co-producing the album with David Earl — an incredible composer, producer, and collaborator who understands where I am taking my sound and cherishes musical exploration. I am very excited about this new body of work! After the CD release in December, the plan is to do a Pacific Northwest tour, play some other cities across the country, and then do a European tour.”

In closing Drea. M says, “What I wish to convey to my fans through my music is what I try to keep in mind every day, as a mantra of sorts: never give up on yourself, especially when you are just about to, and always push your boundaries, especially when you most feel like hiding in the safety zone. My own journey with music and performance has been a long and winding trajectory, and the path is never paved ahead of time.
