Los Angeles, CA – 2020 has been one helluva productive year for Alan Davey. Not only did Mr. Davey, best known as the former bass player for British space rock legends Hawkwind, launch a new album by his Hawkwind supergroup Hawkestrel, the adventurous Pioneers Of Space, but he also saw the release of a 4CD set of demos called Four-Track Mind as well as a 3CD set from Davey’s prog rock side project Pre-Med and even joined Danny B. Harvey’s rockabilly project Headcat 13 for an album! And now to top it all off, Davey has returned with a sleigh full of superb musical guests on an all-new Hawkestrel Christmas album! SpaceXmas includes performances by former Deep Purple vocalist Glenn Hughes, keyboard wizard Rick Wakeman, The Doors’ Robby Krieger plus Hawkwind alums Huw Lloyd-Langton, Nik Turner, and lots more who blaze their way through revamped versions of holiday favorites such as “We Three Kings,” “O Come All Ye Faithful” and “Silent Night” next to original compositions such as “It’s A Wonderful (Funny Old) Life” and the hilarious “Twelve Daze Of Drinxmas.”

Davey had this to share about the album, “My goal with this album was to turn Xmas songs into non-cheesy space rock pieces anyone could enjoy listening to. That was difficult enough, but in 110 degrees Fahrenheit in July/August and in the Californian high desert was kind of surreal. It turned out better than I expected…….Happy SpaceXmas!”

SpaceXmas is available now digitally as well as on CD and in a very special limited edition Christmas color splattered vinyl!

Former HAWKWIND Bassist & LEMMY Protégé ALAN DAVEY Joins Newest Incarnation Of DANNY B. HARVEY’S Rockabilly Project, HEADCAT 13!

Los Angeles, CA – Proving the old adage about cats having nine lives, rockabilly guitarist and icon Danny B. Harvey has returned with a new descendent of the rockabilly project he started back with Lemmy of Motörhead and Slim Jim Phantom of The Stray Cats. The Head Cat, as they dubbed themselves, released a studio album Fool’s Paradise in 2006 as well as a live album, Rock N’ Roll Riot On The Sunset Strip. Years later, after the passing of Lemmy (who lived more lives than all these other cats combined) Harvey recruited 69 Eyes crooner Jyrki 69 for (what else) The 69 Cats. And now, the man who filled Lemmy’s motorcycle boots in the legendary space rock band Hawkwind, Alan Davey, has teamed up with Harvey along with Frantic Flattops drummer Paul Vezelis for the newest litter, Headcat 13!

Following in the paw prints of the previous groups, this outing offers some more fantastic covers of early rock classics such as “Route 66,” “Susie Q,” and “Whole Lotta Shakin’ Going On,” which features a special guest performance by Annie Marie Lewis, niece of The Killer himself Jerry Lee Lewis. But the real cream in this batch comes from the original songs penned separately by Harvey and Davey including the standout lead-off track “Let’s Go Crazy!”

Harvey, who also produced the album, shares this about the single “I’m so happy that Cleopatra is releasing ‘Let’s Go Crazy’ as the first single off my new Headcat 13 album. Last year, when Alan ‘Boomer’ Davey joined Headcat 13 onstage as my bassist for the North American  Space Ritual 2019 in Austin TX, I knew it would be a travesty if Alan and I didn’t get into the studio and record an album of songs together right away. A few months after the festival, Alan loaded up his car with his infamous Ric bass and his favorite amp and drove all the way from Death Valley to Austin in 100+ degrees heat. We spent five intense but fun days in studio, composing, learning, arranging and recording the songs. This album is a throwback to the way albums were recorded in the golden age of rock’n’roll, go in with nothing and 5 days later come out with a finished masterpiece. When people ask me what this album sounds like, I quote Lemmy and say, ‘It’s fucking rock’n’roll, what do you think it sounds like?!’”

Headcat 13 will be available on digital as well as CD in a special digipak and on a very limited edition vinyl!

Los Angeles, CA – Alan Davey, the brilliantly creative musician/songwriter/producer perhaps best known for being the protégé of Motörhead’s Lemmy as well as filling Lemmy’s leather boots as the bassist for space rock icons Hawkwind, is an astoundingly exhaustive artist. Just this year, Davey has overseen the release of new singles by his superstar project Hawkestrel that featured Rick Wakeman, Pat Travers and electronic violinist Shankar (Peter Gabriel, Frank Zappa) as well as the release of a 3-album set from his side project Pre-Med. And now comes the release of a 4CD collection of home studio recordings, awesomely dubbed Four-Track Mind. With recordings that date back to the mid-‘80s all the way up to this decade, Four-Track Mind will give the listener a glimpse into the creative evolution of this amazingly adventurous artist. Packaged in a deluxe clamshell box with individual wallets for each disc along with a 12-page booklet with detailed liner notes and vintage photos, this is a box set that no Alan Davey fan should be without!

Davey has this to say about the collection: “Rarely do musicians ever release their learning curves of writing, mixing, and production skills, with all the clicks and pops and unedited flaws, but I thought people would find it interesting to see how I evolved my style and sound over the years. From a 4-track cassette machine, here are 60+ demos of many of my songs and some not yet used!”

ALAN DAVEY Releases A Pair Of Epic Live Concert Recordings Featuring The HAWKWIND-Inspired PSYCHEDELIC WARLORDS!

Los Angeles, CA – Former Hawkwind bassist Alan Davey has juggled a number of different projects over the course of his long career in music – from the Western-themed outfit Gunslinger, to the Middle East-tinged Bedouin and, more recently, the incredibly ambitious Hawkwind supergroup Hawkestrel, made up of 9 alumni of that quintessential and legendary British space/psych band. But before there was Hawkestrel, there was The Psychedelic Warlords! Named after the lead off track from Hawkwind’s fifth album, 1974’s Hall Of The Mountain Grill, the band consists of frontman Craig High, keyboardist Zoie Green, guitarist Simon Wilkins and drummer Billy Fleming on drums (who worked as Motörhead’s drum tech for 12 years) with Davey on bass, of course. In 2014, this troop set up an epic concert performances to celebrate the 40th anniversary of 2 landmark albums, which they played in their entirety – the aforementioned Hall Of The Mountain Grill by Hawkwind as well as Robert Calvert’s debut solo album, the masterful Captain Lockheed And The Starfighters. It was an acid trip down memory lane like no other for that London audience, and now fans around the world can join the fun on 2 live albums to be released two weeks apart.

Coming on September 27, Alan Davey’s Psychedelic Warlords will release Hall Of The Mountain Grill (London 2014) on both CD in a special digipak and a 2LP vinyl set of limited edition ORANGE vinyl! Then, on October 11 comes, Captain Lockheed & The Starfighters Live! also released on digipak CD and in a single LP vinyl set in limited edition YELLOW vinyl. As an added bonus, each of the vinyl editions has been hand-signed by Mr. Davey himself.

Davey shares some thoughts on the live performances: “Lemmy once told me Hall of the Mountain Grill was his favorite Hawkwind album so celebrating the 40th anniversary of its release in 2014 seemed like a must-do to me. The same year in 1974 Bob Calvert’s classic album Captain Lockheed and the Starfighers was also released so matching the two albums together in one live show was a no brainer to me. Also, the Captain Lockheed album was never performed live so this was gonna be a real treat for Hawkwind fans! The venues were packed, the engines were running and everyone in the audience was blown away by the Psychedelic Warlords’ renditions of these two great albums. So glad we had the foresight to record the London show so now all Hawkwind fans can enjoy the moment!”
