The Security Project Feat. King Crimson & Peter Gabriel Members To Tour US In Support Of New Live Album “Contact”

“Great to see some of the original members doing it the right way.” – Steve Hackett

The Security Project has once again reinvented itself, this time with vocalist Happy Rhodes. Together with Jerry Marotta (drummer from Peter Gabriel’s first five records), Trey Gunn (King Crimson), Michael Cozzi (Shriekback) and NY keyboardist David Jameson, the group continues reimagining the early work of Peter Gabriel (and also, on this disc, Kate Bush), but with Happy’s impressive four-octave vocals adding an entirely new dimension.

The Security Project will be releasing their new live album “CONTACT” on November 18, 2017! The material is culled from shows in the US and their recent Japanese tour. The band will be touring the US in support of the album release in November.

Scorching reviews:

“The Security Project expertly reimagines Peter Gabriel’s groundbreaking early output, creating an immersive experience both in performance and on its debut release Live 1. The group goes far beyond conventional tribute band territory, infusing the songs with new arrangements and elements while staying true to the spirit of the material. Gabriel enthusiasts across the board will be taken by the band’s high octane approach full of drive, determination and energy.” – Anil Prasad, Innerviews

“What Security Project does is accomplish what’s been too long in coming: positioning Peter Gabriel’s music as repertoire. It’s clear that while the band treats Gabriel’s music with no shortage of reverence, it’s also about a more open-ended approach to the music.” – John Kelman, All About Jazz

“Somehow, like Gabriel, the Security Project’s performance strikes the right esoteric balance between the tribal groove of world music and the inscrutable logic of the best progressive rock.” – Peter Lindblad, Elmore Magazine

Trey Gunn
A native Texan who resides in Seattle, Gunn is known for the unusual 10-string touch guitar that he plays. From the blistering live recordings at the Royal Albert Hall in London with David Sylvian and Robert Fripp (“Damage”, Virgin Records) to ten years recording and touring with King Crimson – a group many contend as the most aggressively, adventurous rock band of all time – Gunn is associated with a constant stream of cutting edges projects. Gunn has toured and/or recorded with TOOL, John Paul Jones, Maynard J. Keenan’s “Puscifer”, Vernon Reid, Azam Ali, David Hykes of the Harmonic Choir and Steven Wilson of Porcupine Tree. He currently runs his own media label (7d Media) while dividing his time between solo work; his projects TU, KTU, The Security Project, 3Below and Quodia; film/TV scoring and coaching musicians in the creative process.

Michael Cozzi
Originally from Wales & London, Cozzi got his start in the mid 80’s as the guitarist for the group Shriekback which had the pleasure of touring with “Simple Minds” “INXS” and “Peter Gabriel”. In the early 90’s, Cozzi joined “Sky Cries Mary” with whom he co wrote 5 albums and toured extensively. During this time Cozzi opened up his recording studio “Moscozzi Studio” where he co-wrote and produced the last two SCM albums “Here and Now” and “Small Town”. He has written and produced music for bands, films, commercials, and video games, which let to him meeting and working with Trey Gunn. Two years ago Trey asked Cozzi if he knew of a guitarist for The Security Project, Cozzi put his hand up like a kid in the classroom and said “me me me”.

David Jameson
Keyboardist/Eigenharpist David Jameson began his music career in the 70’s – when multi-keyboard/synth players became a thing. He spent several years touring with Time Machine and then left the music scene for a career at IBM Research after completing a Ph.D. in Computer Science at Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland. At IBM, Dr. Jameson created and managed the Computer Music Center and was elected to the prestigious IBM Academy of Technology. David left IBM to found Digiportal Software and more recently Deskew Technologies where he now co-develops Gig Performer, a recently released audio plugin host that targets the critical needs of live performance/session musicians and which he uses in The Security Project shows instead of carrying around tons of vintage keyboards (for which the other band members are very grateful). In addition to working with The Security Project, David also performs with Beyond The Wall, a Pink Floyd tribute band.

King Crimson Guitar Legend Trey Gunn’s 7d Media Label To Merge With DiN Records

For Immediate Release

King Crimson Guitar Legend Trey Gunn’s 7d Media Label To Merge With DiN Records

Trey Gunn (King Crimson, KTU, Security Project, solo artist) started 7d Media 15 years ago. The label began mainly as a vehicle for his own releases/projects and those of his closest colleagues (Tony Levin, Pat Mastelotto, etc…) The label has steadily grown and now encompasses a variety of releases connecting both progressive rock (Stick Men, Markus Reuter, TU etc…) to some of the more unusual world music (Phurpa, Inna Zhelannaya, Kimmo Pohjonen, etc…)

Based in the UK, the DiN label was set up by Ian Boddy in 1999 to release ambient electronica that bridges the gap between the analogue sound of the early 70’s synth pioneers and the digital soundscapes of the more experimental modern exponents of electronic music.

7d Media will be handling the distribution of all DiN Records releases in the USA/Canada.

Trey Gunn says “The merger with DiN Records is an obvious one. My friend and colleague Markus Reuter has recorded many albums for DiN as well as other characters connected to my own line of work — Robert Rich, the producer Flood and others. I am very happy to be working with Ian Boddy and DiN to bring their releases into the hands of fans here in the USA/Canada.”

The back catalog that is now available:

DiN 29 Robert Rich, React
DiN 31 Ian Boddy, Slide
DiN 32 Parallel Worlds, Shade
DiN 33 Markus Reuter & Ian Boddy, Dervish
DiN 35 Arc, Church
DiN 36 Ian Boddy, Pearl
DiN 38 Mazmoneth, Music By Mirrors
DiN 39 Ian Boddy & Erik Wøllo, Frontiers
DiN 41 Parallel Worlds & Dave Bessell, Morphogenic
DiN 43 Ian Boddy, Liverdelphia
DiN 44 Node, Node 2
DiN 45 Arc, Umbra
DiN 46 Eric Wøllo & Bernhard Wosthein, Weltenuhr
DiN 47 Dave Bessell, Black Horses of The Sun
DiN 48 Parallel Worlds & Self-Oscillate, World Adaptor
DiN 49 Ian Boddy, Tone Science
DiN 51 (cd) Ian Boddy, As Above So Below
DiN 51 (vinyl) Ian Boddy, As Above So Below
DiN 52 (latest release) Markus Reuter & Ian Boddy, Memento (releases May 19, 2017)

The latest release, coming out May 19, 2017, is a collaboration between Markus Reuter and Ian Boddy entitled “Memento.” “Memento” (DiN52) is the fifth DiN CD collaboration between label boss Ian Boddy & renowned composer and touch guitarist Markus Reuter. They were there at the birth of DiN in 1999 with their inaugural release Distant Rituals (DiN2) and this latest work not only affectionately looks back to that album but forges ahead into new musical territory.

The album opens with the powerful tour de force of “Gyroscope” with its ever evolving guitar arpeggios and thunderous percussion. The following track “Spindrift” has a mysterious harmonic feel highlighted by Reuter’s beautiful guitar playing & Boddy’s ambient production. “Linger” & “Stay” form a pair of soundscapes where Reuter’s guitar loop ambiences are intermingled with extraordinary analogue textures from Boddy’s Serge modular synthesiser. The former provides a breathing space within the album after the two opening tracks whereas the latter brings the CD to a gentle, drifting close. The title track hearkens back to the duos first collaborative album with it’s pulsing cut up treatment of a Reuter guitar loop soundscape and perhaps informs the listener as to the nature of this “Memento”. Although Boddy often keeps in the background in terms of lead solo work when working with Reuter the track “Deadlock” features an Ondes Martenot style synth line that soars above this dark emotionally laden piece.

Once again Reuter & Boddy have proved to be a potent musical team with their balance of styles producing a complex, deep album. Effortlessly crossing genres between prog and ambient electronica it not only looks back to their roots but creates new sonic landscapes for the listener to explore.
