Asia is absolutely delighted to announce The Heat of The Moment Tour, headlined by Asia and also featuring Focus, Martin Turner ex Wishbone Ash and Curved Air and MC’d by artist Roger Dean.

The tour will commence on 3rd July 2024 and will incorporate 21 dates across the USA and Canada.

The tour has been masterminded by rock music keyboard legend and original Asia member, Geoff Downes (Buggles, Asia, Yes).

Asia was the biggest selling album of 1982, number 1 on Billboard for 9 weeks and pioneers of the MTV era! Downes’ brand new iteration of Asia first began to evolve last Summer, at the concert held in memory of late lead singer, songwriter and bassist, John Wetton (King Crimson, Roxy Music, Uriah Heep, Wishbone Ash, UK, Asia, John Wetton Band, Icon). Downes invited old friend John Mitchell (It Bites, Frost*, Lonely Robot, Kino, John Wetton Band, Icon) and new-comer Harry Whitley to join him on stage to celebrate Wetton’s life by performing some of the classic Asia hits. Such was the uproarious reception to their set, that Downes wondered if something magical was beginning to take shape.

“And so it was that the John Wetton tribute last August really reminded me how much Asia’s music belongs on the stage. The response to it all was literally…spine-tingling.”

Downes’ new-look Asia will once again feature Mitchell on guitars and Whitley on lead vocal and bass. The quartet will be made complete by the addition of Virgil Donati (UK, Southern Sons, Steve Vai, Allan Holdsworth) on drums.

Downes continues, “With the addition of Virgil Donati & John Mitchell, two of the finest musicians in the world in their respective classes, this is almost going full circle bearing in mind their previous close collaborations with John W. Completing this circle is also the amazing Harry Whitley who absolutely floored the audience with his incredible vocal interpretation of the Asia songs that John W and I so lovingly wrote over the years.”

The tour will also feature sets from other classic acts, Focus, Martin Turner ex Wishbone Ash and Curved Air. All three support acts boast their founder bandleaders and have deservedly attained the status of legend.

Focus will be releasing a brand new studio album later in 2024. Led by the indomitable Sir Thijs van Leer, featuring original 1970’s drummer Pierre Van Der Linden, plus the virtuoso talents of Menno Gootjes on guitar and Udo Pannekeet on bass.

Martin Turner was lead vocalist, bassist, founding member and creative force behind 70’s rock music behemoth Wishbone Ash, best known for such classic albums as Argus and Pilgrimage.

Formed in 1970, Curved Air are one of the founders of progressive rock and a retrospective collection of their most influential and ground-breaking material is currently in the planning stages. Sonja Kristina (vocals) and Kirby Gregory (guitar) will treat audiences to an acoustic set featuring some of the band’s most memorable musical moments. They will be joined by violinist Grzegorz Gadziomski.

Each performance on the tour will be MC’d by legendary artist Roger Dean. For so many, Dean’s artwork is synonymous with the music of the time and stands to represent the very best of British rock music.

The final word goes to Geoff Downes, “I am convinced that John (Wetton’s) spirit is with us as we set out on this new adventure. After all, it is the Year of the Dragon – just as it was in 1982, when we released our first Asia album. It’s as though it was meant to be. Multi-instrumentalist Dario and his prog ensemble, Dario and the Clear, have released “Banquet of Noise,” the third album in his pop, rock, progressive trilogy reflecting the world’s journey politically and socially over the last several years. The album marks the return of impressive collaborations with Trey Gunn (King Crimson), Eric Person (Ben Harper), Sue Leonard (back-up vocalist for k.d. lange), and experimental guitar player, Gabriel Marin, all of whom are ideal matches instrumentally for Dario’s diverse and expressive sound palette.

Says Dario, “‘Banquet of Noise’ is the last of what I call the trilogy. First album being ‘Optic Nerve’ followed by ‘Reflective Touch.’ ‘Banquet of Noise’ was to me a perfect ending for the trilogy. I started writing ‘Optic Nerve’ at the height of covid and when I finished that recording, I thought I was done with what I had to say… But that was not the case two weeks later and went back into the studio to work on ‘Optic Nerve.’ And then the same thing happened again. I thought I was done with what I had to say but then I worked on ‘Banquet of Noise.’ And the reason and the inspiration for the trilogy was really based on current events and just a constant bombardment of news and the chaos happening in the world. It was way too much for me to write about, so I had to keep writing the alms. It was non-stop for three and a half years.”

Dario was born in Ripacandida, Italy and moved to London, England during the height of Beatlemania. After his mom took him to see the Beatles at an outdoor concert, he was profoundly influenced and became infatuated with becoming a musician.

Fast forward to his teenage years and music became reality when he purchased his first guitar.  Dario took an unusual approach. When most musicians were aspiring to play covers, Dario was immediately drawn to writing original music and spent time learning multi-track recording.

After graduating Berklee College of Music, Dario toured with his band, Decoy and worked as a session guitarist, touring and teaching. His instructional book, “The Shapes Remain the Same” was published in 2010. After his Decoy project came to a close, Dario went solo, starting a new band he named Dario and the Clear. Dario and the Clear has released seven albums since 2011. After the release of his previous album, “Optic Nerve,” the creative muse continued to provide inspiration for a new body of work that he named “Reflective Touch.”

Award winning singer, songwriter and podcaster Jann Klose is releasing new music this season. His cover of Tim Buckley’s legendary “Song to the Siren” will be released Friday, May 3, 2024 via KMG Distribution/The Royalty Network. The song has been a staple of Klose’s live show for the better part of a decade since featuring as the voice of Tim Buckley in the Focus World/Tribeca feature film “Greetings From Tim Buckley” starring Penn Badgley as Jeff Buckley.

Larry Beckett, the song’s lyricist will be the guest on Episode 111 of Jann’s podcast “Making Sound with Jann Klose” to air on release day of the song, May 3rd. Larry was Tim Buckley’s lyricist on many of the album’s Tim released during his short lifetime. Larry and Jann have collaborated as well, co-writing the song “After The Last” which appears on Klose’s 2018 album “In Tandem” (Gallo/Sheer).

Says Larry, “The song encompasses past, present, and future, and is much deeper than I knew when I wrote it. Jann, your long held notes and soaring finish make this a fine addition to the song’s covers! Composing and performing with you was a pleasure that I look forward to repeating.”

Stockton, NJ — New Jersey-based country music trio Southpaw announces the debut of their highly anticipated sophomore album, Drugstore Candy through their label Deko Entertainment. The album follows their debut, Unhitched, which reached number four on Amazon’s Hot New Releases in country in 2021.

Drugstore Candy, releasing on April 19, is a collection of eleven tracks that reflect Southpaw’s diverse artistic influences, with notes of rock, R&B, and funk infusing classic country songcraft. Included is the melancholy ballad “Your Name,” which was recently named 2023 Modern Country Song of the Year at the Josie Music Awards in Nashville, where Southpaw was also named 2023 Country Group of the Year.

They also have recently released their latest single from the album “Breaking Up with Broken”, where the video was premiered by Sirius XM DJ Dean Baldwin on Texas based StrykTV. The album contains 10 new original songs and a countrified version of the No Doubt hit single “Just A Girl”.

Cymbalic Encounters displays its ‘world music’ side with the release of “Afrika Mandalika,” which features nine original progressive rock songs with an African twist of classic tribal and healing chants with rhythmical drums samples to offer authenticity to the tracks. Including titles like; “Rains of Waimba,” “Voodoo Supermarket” and even “Black Magic.”

Along with drummer Mark Murdock, guitarist Fernando Perdomo appears on a few songs like the upbeat opener, “The Fire Merchants” and “Festival of Miracles,” an instrumental which also features Joe Berger on guitar.

Also contributing are vocalist Tim Pepper from the U.K., who was also greatly influenced by Peter Gabriel’s work with Yassou N’Dour. Further accompanying Mark are Japanese bassist, Kenta Shimokuni and Mark’s son, Preston on guitar.

The Tin Drum Family Band was born out of an unlikely space that Covid provided the Drummond family. Burleigh Drummond and Mary Harris, married for 40 years and longtime veterans of the music world, recording and touring with Ambrosia, Tin Drum, Jimmy Buffet, Animal Logic, The Lost Dogs, Mighty Mo Rodgers, etc., were suddenly home and reunited with their grown children Burleigh M. Drummond (Micky) and Sierra Drummond.

Both son and daughter brought forth their own creativity, having become accomplished writers and musicians in their own right. So, four musicians stuck in the same house/studio, what do you do? You play in a band and record an album that the whole family contributes to, in a place that helped sustain and inspire you.

One idea led to another and soon a collection of songs took place that reflected not only the loss of loved ones but the encouragement and support those loved ones showed towards this music. So out of life’s tragedies came the birth of something beautiful, the TIN DRUM FAMILY BAND and their first release “Emerson Street,” the place where both son and daughter were raised and still exists today.

Joining the family on this album are other family members David Harris and John Wood, and our favorite musicians Marc Bonilla, best known for his work with keyboard legend Keith Emerson, and Devon Geyer. The group is already starting a new collection of songs and is receiving offers for live performances this coming summer.

Their debut album “Emerson Street” is now available everywhere you stream music and also to purchase as a physical copy! The physical copy is NOW AVAILABLE for purchase on our online store. The album features 12 tracks, written by all 4 family members, and traces the loss and love they’ve experienced both individually and as a family unit.

Burleigh Drummond is an American drummer, percussionist, producer, songwriter, and singer. He is a founding member and the only drummer/percussionist for the five-time Grammy Award nominated band Ambrosia. He performs onstage in the band with his wife and fellow band member Mary Harris, and the couple are also both active members of Bill Champlin’s Wunderground and their own band Tin Drum. Drummond recorded on every Ambrosia record from 1970 to the present, and toured internationally with the band throughout its history.

Drummond and his wife, Mary Harris, formed the band Tin Drum in the 1990s, and have released three albums. Harris and Drummond, who married in 1983, have performed together onstage with Ambrosia and Tin Drum. Burleigh has also performed and recorded with Alan Parsons, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Frank Zappa, Michael McDonald, Mighty Mo Rodgers, Dave Mason, etc. But his favorite musical experience is the TIN DRUM FAMILY BAND!!!!!!

7D Media is thrilled to announce the upcoming release of “Tu-Ner for Lovers,” a new CD from the ensemble of Pat Mastelotto and Trey Gunn (best known for their work with King Crimson) and Markus Reuter. Scheduled for release on May 3rd, this album is a prelude to the much-anticipated US Tu-Ner tour in May.

“Tu-Ner for Lovers” is taken from their live shows in 2023. It weaves together an immersive audioscape that blends the churning rhythms of Mastelotto, the dripping touch guitar layers of Reuter, and the seductive Warr Guitar of Gunn.

Pat Mastelotto – Very rarely does a drummer go on to forge the most successful career on the demise of their former hit band. Phil Collins and Dave Grohl have managed it, and so too has Pat Mastelotto, a self-taught drummer from Northern California, who has also been involved with pushing the envelope of electronic drumming. Pat has spent a lifetime jumping genres from pop, to prog, to electronica to world music with – among others – Mr. Mister, XTC, David Sylvian, The Rembrandts, Kimmo Pohjonen, and for the last 25 years with King Crimson and Stick Men.

Markus Reuter is a composer, guitarist, and producer. He began his musical journey as a composer before delving into Robert Fripp’s Guitar Craft, mastering the Chapman Stick, and eventually transitioning to the U8 Touch Guitar. Reuter has released numerous solo albums and has collaborated extensively with various musicians. He holds a prominent position in the experimental band Anchor and Burden and forms the duo Tuner with Pat. Additionally, he was a member of Europa String Choir and has worked alongside notable artists such as Gary Husband, Robert Rich, J. Peter Schwalm, Mark Wingfield, and many others. Reuter’s versatility is evident through his involvement in Devin Townsend’s touring band. Notably, he also performs in power trios including Stick Men with Pat and Tony Levin, TRUCE with Asaf Sirkis and Fabio Trentini, and Markus Reuter/Tim Motzer/Kenny Grohowski.

Trey Gunn, the extraordinary Warr guitarist and musician, has left an indelible mark on the world of progressive and experimental music. Renowned for his virtuosic talent, he has graced the stages and recording studios with legendary acts such as King Crimson, David Sylvian, Robert Fripp, Brian Eno, Happy Rhodes, Puscifer, Tool and John Paul Jones, contributing his unique blend of mesmerizing and innovative playing. As the founder of the esteemed 7D Media record label, Gunn continues to be a guiding force in curating exceptional musical experiences. Trey Gunn’s visionary artistry and unwavering commitment to pushing the boundaries of sound make him a true luminary in the realm of progressive music.
