King Crimson’s “In The Court Of The Crimson King” 50th Anniversary Series 3CD/Blu-Ray featuring 5.1 Surround Sound Mix & New Stereo Mix

For Immediate Release

King Crimson’s “In The Court Of The Crimson King” 50th Anniversary Series 3CD/Blu-Ray featuring 5.1 Surround Sound Mix & New Stereo Mix

Blu-Ray features all-new, 2019, 5.1 & stereo mixes by Steven Wilson, approved by Robert Fripp in 24/96 resolution

Recorded in 1969 “In The Court Of The Crimson King” stands as one of the defining albums of British rock music & one of the finest debut albums of all time. Described at the time as “an uncanny masterpiece” by Pete Townshend, the album has achieved legendary status over the years. Fifty years on, the album is one of the most beloved & revered in the rock music canon.

The 50th anniversary edition features:

Blu-Ray: First time on Blu-Ray for this iconic album with all new mixes in stereo & 5.1, original album mixes and a multitude of extras all in Hi-Resolution.

CDs: 3 CDs present the 2019 mixes in stereo & instrumental forms, an expanded alternate album and the original album mix – also with additional tracks.

Packaged in two gatefold sleeves with  booklet in a rigid exterior slipcase

Blu-Ray features all-new, 2019, 5.1 & stereo mixes by Steven Wilson, approved by Robert Fripp in 24/96 resolution – the first time the album has appeared in 5.1 at 24/96 resolution. Blu-Ray also features the original master edition of the 1969 album mix in 24/96 stereo. Blu-Ray also features a complete alternate album comprising 2019 mixes by Steven Wilson

A further album’s worth of additional material drawn from studio takes – much of it mixed by Steven Wilson & including extracts from the ‘wind session’ that produced the intro to 21CSM in stereo for the first time, the single a/b sides of the album title track drawn, for the first time since on disc, from the original master tapes & more are also included.

The Blu-Ray is completed by a set of 2019 instrumental mixes and the surviving fragment of black & white footage from Hyde Park in 1969

This set marks the first appearance of the album on Blu-Ray completing the availability of all King Crimson studio albums on the format.

CD1 presents the album in its 2019 stereo mix – along with the 2019 instrumental takes (with ‘Moonchild’ edited to song length)
CD2 presents an expanded edition of the alternate album from the Blu-Ray
CD3 features the original master edition of the 1969 mix plus additional tracks

Presented as a 2 x gatefold sleeve edition containing the individual CDs plus booklet with new sleeve-notes by King Crimson biographer Sid Smith packed in a rigid slipcase. Artwork derived from the original paintings, as meticulously restored, for the limited edition full sized, signed prints

All material on this set will also feature on the forthcoming “Complete 1969 Sessions” – the eighth boxed set in the series documenting King Crimson’s studio & live recordings from 1969 onwards.

The Alternate album appears, quite deliberately, in slightly different track-listings on the Blu-Ray & CD (& on the accompanying double vinyl set). The aim on the Blu-Ray was to provide a fully sequenced listen that closely resembled the original album running order. This was extended on the CD, gathering many of the new mixes on one disc & revised again to make for a satisfying listen on vinyl.

In common with all other King Crimson studio albums in the format, the 5.1 mixes are being made available in this affordable set rather than being held over exclusively for larger expensive boxed sets, a practice that limits the availability of the music in multichannel audio to the detriment of artists and fans alike.

In the 50 years since its release “In The Court of the Crimson King” has never been out of print or unavailable in any of the world’s main music markets & continues to enjoy consistently high sales.

New Video About The Making Of Magma’s New Album “Zëss” On Limited Edition Gold Colored Vinyl

Limited edition of 1500 numbered copies on 180 gram audiophile gold colored vinyl

Watch the The Making Of Magma’s Limited Edition Gold Colored Vinyl of  “Zëss”: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZOxZ_qTwFes

Magma’s critically acclaimed newest album “Zëss” is a 38-minute musical work by Christian Vander. Composed in 1970, Zëss had long been plagued by its incompleteness, its recording was deferred for years. Four decades after its first draft, the work has finally been recorded in an orchestral version that gives it both its true dreamlike dimension and its transcending power. The first public performance took place in Bourges in 1979. It is the last piece in a series of unfinished compositions from the 1970s. During the last 15 years, they finished and released all these different pieces. “Zëss” is described as a work that touches the philosophical domain by its treatment of the idea of nothingness and its evocation of the theme of time.

Magma turned fifty this year, catapulting into the very exclusive circle of bands who for five decades have never laid down their instruments, nor turned down their volume! The oldest French band still in existence has always played at full sail, never yielding to the siren song of passing trends. The fiercely original music has tirelessly adhered to the highest artistic standards while still reaching a wide audience of all ages.

JOEY MOLLAND OF BADFINGER IN THE STUDIO RECORDING A BRAND NEW ALBUM

For Immediate Release

JOEY MOLLAND OF BADFINGER IN THE STUDIO RECORDING A BRAND NEW ALBUM

Teams With Grammy-Winning Producer and Grammy-Winning Engineer

NEW YORK, NY – JOEY MOLLAND of the band BADFINGER is currently in the studio working on a brand new release. He’s enlisted Grammy-winning songwriter/producer Mark Hudson and Grammy-winning engineer Mario J. McNulty to work on the album with him and is excited to share this latest project with his fans.

“I’ve wanted to make this album for several years now. The songs are solid and quite catchy – many harken back to that power pop/rock sound I began my career with.” – Joey Molland

Fans can find many ways to be a part of this special project through Joey’s Kickstarter campaign which launched today.

Joey was a member of Badfinger’s classic line-up and the band was one of the original signings to the Beatles’ Apple Records label. They had their first hit single with a Paul McCartney penned song, “Come and Get It.”  Badfinger followed this with their own hit compositions “No Matter What”, “Day After Day” (produced by George Harrison), and “Baby Blue.” During this time American singer Harry Nilsson placed Badfinger’s song “Without You” on top of the charts, and Mariah Carey did the same in 1994. Badfinger’s own version of “Without You” was featured in Season 2 of the hit television show This Is Us, which helped introduce the band’s music to brand new younger fans.

The timeless quality of Badfinger songs is evident, as the songs continue to be used in many other contemporary TV and film soundtracks. The song “No Matter What” was featured in the hit film Horrible Bosses 2,  “Baby Blue” was featured in the Breaking Bad TV show finale, and “Day After Day” is currently featured in the movie Annabelle Comes Home.

Joey Molland played on John Lennon’s Imagine album, on George Harrison’s Grammy-winning album All Things Must Pass, and joined George Harrison for the Concert For Bangladesh.

Producer Mark Hudson has worked extensively with artists such as Ringo Starr, Aerosmith, Ozzy Osbourne, Harry Nilsson, Bon Jovi, Alice Cooper, Celine Dion and more.

Engineer Mario J. McNulty has worked with many well-known artists, including David Bowie, Prince and Julian Lennon.

Both are excited to be working with Joey on his brand new release.

Here’s what Joey has to say about the tracks:

“So far the rough tracks are sounding fantastic. The hooks, the harmonies and the musicianship… Expect to hear fresh catchy rock songs, with several songs reminiscent of Badfinger’s sound.”

Several very special guest musicians are contributing to this album.

DAVID HASSELHOFF Asks The World To “OPEN YOUR EYES!” In A Video For His New Single And Album!

For Immediate Release

DAVID HASSELHOFF Asks The World To “OPEN YOUR EYES!” In A Video For His New Single And Album!

Los Angeles, CA – Although most recognizable for his starring turns in the hit TV shows Knight Rider and Baywatch along with numerous feature film appearances (Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2, Kung Fury, Click, The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie, Dodgeball, and Marvel’s original Nick Fury: Agent Of Shield, among others) and roles on Broadway and the West End in productions of Jekyll & Hyde, Chicago and The Producers, megastar David Hasselhoff is ready to tackle a different role – the role of passionately earnest pop star singing for a new global consciousness in these difficult and troubled times. It’s a role not unfamiliar to Hasselhoff whose historic performance of the chart-topping single “Looking For Freedom” on the rubble of the newly fallen Berlin Wall in 1989 became a rallying cry not just to a reunited Germany but for all of the burgeoning democracies that were swept up in the winds of change.

For his new single, “Open Your Eyes,” Hasselhoff has resurrected a song from that same decade by dark rockers The Lords Of The New Church and brought it into the present where it sounds as fresh and vital as ever. “Open your eyes to the lies right in front of you” goes the chorus, echoing the growing discomfort felt everywhere by today’s media-saturated, politically marginalized population. Hasselhoff sings the refrain with legitimate fury and conviction against a backing track created by producer Adam Hamilton and renowned guitarist for the Stooges, and member of the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame, James Williamson. As Hasselhoff says, “I found a very relevant song that tells our story and am very proud to sing our story through this song. ‘Open Your Eyes’ is as relevant today as it was 30 years ago when it was written! Let’s make the world great again!”

To help bring the single to life, Hasselhoff has enlisted the video-making talents of Vicente & Fernando Cordero of Industrialism Films who, along with LA-based artist Dan Dowding of Media Pollution, have crafted a visual representation of the song. The video also leverages the power of social media by incorporating footage of Hoff fans from all over the globe who participated in the #EyesForHoff campaign. The final product is a video rich in spectacle but also carries its message just as effectively as it entertains.

Watch the video here: https://youtu.be/yBDc0YWi9mk

Hasselhoff’s new album, also called Open Your Eyes, is set to be released on September 27, his first with LA-based label Cleopatra Records. The album features 12 other fierce new takes of classics such as Modern English’s “I Melt With You,” Echo & The Bunnymen’s “Lips Like Sugar” and David Bowie’s inspirational anthem “Heroes,” each of which is brought to life in collaboration with one of a diverse array of artists ranging from industrial wild child Al Jourgensen of Ministry, major film composer Tyler Bates (Guardians Of The Galaxy, John Wick franchise), country legend Charlie Daniels, Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame nominee Todd Rundgren, ‘80s new wave icons A Flock Of Seagulls and many more! Open Your Eyes will be available on both CD in a deluxe digipak with a special collectible “Hoff Army” patch, on vinyl in limited edition RED vinyl and on all digital formats starting September 27!

Hasselhoff will also be celebrating the 30th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall with an explosive tour through Germany, Austria & Switzerland beginning October 2!

Micky Dolenz “really looking forward to” White Album tribute tour with Todd Rundgren and other stars

An eclectic group of artists are taking part in a fall U.S. trek that will celebrate the 50th anniversary of The Beatles’ 1968 self-titled double album, a.k.a. The White Album.

Dolenz tells ABC Radio that he’s “really looking forward to” the trek because he’s not only “a huge fan of The Beatles and The White Album,” but also “of Chicago and Badfinger and Todd…and Christopher…all of ’em.”

Prog Ensemble 3.2 Featuring Robert Berry To Tour North America Fall 2019!

For Immediate Release

Prog Ensemble 3.2 Featuring Robert Berry To Tour North America Fall 2019!

“3.2 – The Rules Have Changed” — Goes Live!

Things just got a lot better for Prog Music Fans – and fans of genuine classic bands with great players. Robert Berry has assembled a killer four-piece band set to begin playing this year. For those who appreciate the fine craftsmanship of YES, ELP, Keith Emerson, Genesis, Jethro Tull, etc… are in for a real treat. Berry is riding high with his latest release “3.2: The Rules Have Changed” written with Keyboardist Keith Emerson. Berry is well known for his Bass, Vocals and as a multi-instrumentalist who’s written and toured with Carl Palmer, Steve Howe (Yes), GTR and Ambrosia to name a few. Rounding out the group are Drummer Jimmy Keegan (Spock’s Beard), Guitarist Paul Keller (Emerson/Palmer), and Keyboardist Andrew Colyer (Circuline, Cell15, Awaken). Aside from all the heavy instrumental lifting, all four band members sing – a pleasant surprise in today’s music world. The word has been spreading quickly, and already 3.2 will be headlining at this year’s ProgStock Festival – an annual 3-Day Festival in Rahway, New Jersey this October 11-12-13. ProgStock is the gem of the Prog Music Festivals in the North East U.S. and continues to bring in more prestigious acts every year. The band will be touring North America this fall (tour dates below).

About Robert Berry: Berry is an American musician, songwriter, and producer. He’s co-written with Steve Howe for the band GTR, he’s a former Ambrosia band member. He drew a lot of attention for his work re-arranging/re-recording of the YES hit “Roundabout” for Magna Carta Records, drawing some to label him as a crafty American version of Trevor Rabin. Yes, there are many similarities between the two. Now Robert Berry has announced the live touring band for the #1 Amazon and Billboard charting album, “3.2 – The Rules Have Changed” written with the late Keith Emerson. Emerson and Berry formed the band “3” in the 1980’s with Carl Palmer, and had the #9 Billboard hit “Talkin’ Bout”. Their debut album “To The Power of 3” charted well on the Geffen label – well known at the time for their other artists like Peter Gabriel.

In 2015, a radio station in Boston unearthed some old tapes from the 1988 “3” tour, and released them as a live album. After hearing that live performance, Keith Emerson was inspired to reunite with Berry, resuming work on the unfinished second “3” album, now titled “3.2”. It was released on the Frontiers Records label. With Emerson’s tragic passing in 2016, it appeared the new album might not get finished.

Spring of 2018, and Berry had worked out the details with the Emerson estate and Frontiers to complete and release the record. The first single, “Somebody’s Watching” (released May 22, 2018), saw the album debut at #3 on the Amazon hard rock charts, and generated 7,000 YouTube views in the first 36 hours, and over 12,000 views in the first week. A musical phoenix had indeed risen. The album was released on August 10, 2018, and hit #1 on Amazon, selling out in five countries on the first day, and placed on two Billboard charts. The two YouTube videos from the album currently have over 75,000 cumulative views. The new album has met with unanimous positive international acclaim from over 100 magazine articles, blog and website reviews, and FM and internet radio stations. Berry, Keegan, Keller and Colyer began live rehearsals in November 2018, and are looking forward to not only performing the great last work of Keith Emerson, but will also be pulling from Berry’s 30-year history of Progressive Rock, and also his work with Steve Howe, some from Ambrosia, some of his solo work, and of course his re-worked tribute albums for the Magna Carta label, which include the music of YES, ELP, Genesis and Jethro Tull .

Prepare Yourself… Robert Berry’s new band is stacked with seasoned players!

More Than Just a Concert – It’s An Event: With his 30 year history of playing side-by-side with some of Prog and Rock music’s elite, Berry has a few entertaining stories to tell as well. So it’s more than just a concert, the shows will include an evening of firsthand stories and recollections sure to raise a few eyebrows along the way. ProgStock is one of music’s premiere interactive events where the artists and fans mingle; they hang together, drink together and bond over more than just music. The 3.2 shows will be exactly that as well – and isn’t that a welcoming idea – for fans not only to enjoy the music but to jump in the pool with the musicians that create it.

Renaissance is a band with a rich history unique unto themselves as progressive rock pioneers who rose from the ashes of the seminal UK rock band, The Yardbirds. Acclaimed for their unique blending of progressive rock with classical and symphonic influences, the band’s career has spanned forty plus years spearheaded by the 5 octave voice of Annie Haslam and the masterful songwriting skills of Michael Dunford. They are widely considered to be the band that most successfully and routinely utilized the sound of a full orchestra in their recordings.

The band has toured throughout the world and has performed at Carnegie Hall with the New York Philharmonic Orchestra and additionally at the Royal Albert Hall with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and Royal Chorale Society. Renaissance had a top ten hit in the UK with their song “Northern Lights” that still demands airplay to this day.

WELCOME EARTHLINGS!!!
UNCLE ROY’S SPACESHIP “HOW DO WE GET TO EARTH?” is a 5-song EP and the very first instrumental release for Uncle Roy’s Spaceship and will be released on September 2, 2019. The music is a progressive, instrumental recipe of several genres of rock music, blending time signatures and tempos, within instrumental rock, progressive rock, fusion, classical rock, space rock, jazz rock and other cosmic sounds, at this moment in space and time. There is a galaxy of musical influences from many light years of playing, that you can hear within the sounds. Sometimes, the soundscapes will be light and breezy and dreamy. And sometimes, the soundscapes will be heavy, thick and creamy. Some tunes may have a bit of both, with a sprinkling or splashing of other musical textures and moods from soft to intense…Uncle Roy says,“Instantaneously, music finds our emotions and at the speed of light, brings them out! Music, stimulates our imagination! Fun, with music! Enjoy!” Included with the physical CD is a beautiful 8-page booklet filled with fun, sci-fi stories and thoughts, pictures and song descriptions written by Uncle Roy.

Uncle Roy & The Band From Another Planet “Save The Universe” & Uncle Roy’s Spaceship “How Do We Get To Earth” is ROY LEONARD HERMAN. All music, lyrics and stories are, composed, performed and written by Uncle Roy. Roy Leonard Herman is the creator of original, multi-genre, styles of rock music from alternative rock to progressive rock and more. When asked, Uncle Roy says: “Music is a vehicle to bring the mind, the spirit, the soul and the body together. Music, inspires our greatest emotions to emerge. Music, inspires millions upon millions of people to enjoy a fantastic moment of living, simultaneously. Music, heals the heart and opens it up to life. Music is, magical! Music is, a state of happiness and freedom! I hope to create music for people of different musical tastes. Some will like vocal tunes and some will like instrumentals. Some will like pop music and some will like progressive music. And, I hope to give them all, some of what they love to hear. It inspires me to do different projects to please everyone I can who loves music. There is a third project, different from these two, that is materializing!”

“SAVE THE UNIVERSE”
Uncle Roy says, “For ‘Save The Universe’ I wanted to create a set of tunes that were not one style of rock or just heavy or just light. I wanted to have some of the musical ingredients, from several rock stylings, within the scope of the music. I wanted the recipe for this project to be more universal, with a mix of rock genres. Therefore, each tune has its own musical and lyrical difference and character from the others. There is soft guitar and screaming guitar. There are dreamy, orchestral keyboards to, thick, and rockin’ keyboards. The drums may lightly and tightly groove for a section of a tune and then, be pounding. The bass will be subtle at times and then, sometimes big and fat. Vocally, you will find the voices of the songs going from the mellow and grand to heavy rock to a little, talk-singin’ and preachin’. For every letter of the alphabet, there is a musical influence that has manipulated my musical, genetic makeup, over a few light years. The world’s music is broad, cultural, always evolving and it is what influences me musically, as well, all the time.”

The song list:
“COSMIC HAPPINESS” is a fun, alternative pop rocker that begins with a spacey, rock intro, as the cosmic, long distance romance story in the lyrics, unfolds. The tune rolls from a classic, bouncy, rock boogie groove, to a cool, hooky and rockin’ chorus.
“THE ISLE OF RIFF ON THE WORLD OF TONE” – this alternative rock tune opens with a tight, soaring rock motif that flows into a sweet, thick and grand alternative rock/pop rock verse. The verse slides into a heavy rock bridge that crescendos into a catchy, power pop, alternative rock chorus. The words tell the story of a peaceful, majestic, utopian world, where everyone is welcome.
“A WORLD OF MIRACLES” is a mellow, beautiful, dreamy, ethereal, philosophical, thoughtful song. With a couple of harmonious, chiming guitars, a pulse, and crisp and bright vocals, the song is filled with fairytale lyrics that create visions about some of the enchanted things we all would love in our lives.
“FATHER TIME” mixes an explosive, rock beginning that, ascends into the verses, as the music takes on the magic and vibe of an old, traditional ‘pub’ sing along song that evolves into an alternative-progressive, power pop rock finale. The lyrics remind us of the power and importance of, time.
“IT DOESN’T REALLY MATTER” is, an alternative rock tune with a world music vibe. The tune begins with an airy and misty music and vocal section. The song builds into a catchy, pop rock bridge that develops into a thumping, driving, preachin’, talk-singin’ chorus. The words address the whole world issue of racism, prejudice and equality across the Earth.

“HOW DO WE GET TO EARTH?”
WELCOME TO THE STORY AND JOURNEY OF UNCLE ROYS SPACESHIP!!!
“After trying for a few light years of time, to repair the navigational system of my spaceship, due to a small ice particle smashing into the lens of the interstellar space guiding system, at the nose of this ship, I suddenly realized that my course direction had changed, drastically! None of the constellations or orbiting bodies were familiar. Distant solar systems were out of place in the twilight! The galaxy I was orbiting, was not, the Milky Way! I must have drifted into a wormhole while working on the repair. Which didn’t work. I need a few parts. Good thing is, at least, I found a map of our solar system and the Milky Way under my drivers seat. If I get close to home, it could help. ‘Let’s see. The map says, ‘Map of the Solar System,’ 1987..What!?  What!? 1987! Oh man! This map is, ancient! Talk about, lost in space! Hopefully, I’ll meet someone out here who knows where I am, where I can get some parts and how I can return home…I guess I’ll just play some music while I survey my surroundings and give this galaxy a couple of orbits, so I can get comfy in my new neighborhood..Man! Whatever universe this is, it sure is a beautiful, sparkling place! Navigation by the stars! Oh yeah! I need some drivin’ music! Hmmm…Some of my Uncle Roy’s Spaceship music will do just fine! One thing about outer space is that, no one care’s about how loud or how long you play it! Everybody, everywhere, loves Earth music!!!” The adventure, begins…

Uncle Roy says, “I love instrumental music! From soloists to small groups to orchestral instrumentals, through a variety of music, the dynamic sensitivities within instrumental music makes me feel a rollercoaster of sensations and emotions!!! So, I thought that creating a project of some tunes with the ingredients of a few instrumental rock music genres together, would be fun! Instrumental rock, progressive rock, fusion, spacey rock, classical rock and jazz rock are all a part of the music in, ‘How Do We Get To Earth?’ There are moments of soft, sweetness and moments of roaring and throbbing sounds. There are cruising, floating rhythms that groove and heavier, driving rhythms that rock. The dreamy and bright soundscape moments will make you drift. Each tune has a different mood, feeling, atmosphere and style from the others.”

The song list:
“SPACE NOODLEIN” is a a fun, screamin’, six string, jammin’ rocker! The intro starts as a fat drum beat that, leads into a progressive, classical rock section. Followed by a whimsical, ascending then descending musical theme, for that, ‘noodlein’ underbelly feel, as the music breaks open into a heavy, roaring, rock development.
“MOOONBEAMS AND THE COSMIC BANG” begins with a syrupy, melodious and harmonious guitar melody and sounds, shooting in the background, to the soothing rhythms being played. The music moves suddenly, to a heavy, punchy and crunchy, progressive metal rock passage of the composition and into the powerful crescendo.
“THERE IS NOTHING MORE BRIGHT THAN THE STARS AT NIGHT” is a fusion instrumental that begins with an edgy tension creating tone, into a very cool, smooth cruisin’ groove, with light textured keys and tasty, sonic guitar, throughout. The tune bounces sweetly, drifting in to get the fusion ensemble rolling. This tune cruises nicely.
“IT’S A BEAUTIFUL DAY IN THE MILKY WAY” is a beautiful and dreamy soundscape. The song is a pretty, flowing, melodic and rhythmic composition that has a wonderful, warm, serene feeling and quality. The composition makes you drift thoughtfully and imagine. Subtle and sweet orchestration, gives the song its appealing ambiance and mood. Softly, singing guitar notes provide sweet textures and voice. The tune leaves one with a good vibe, inside.
“FLIGHT OF THE ANCIENT ALIEN” is an energetic, progressive rock tune. This tune crescendos all the way from start to finish. The music gives you the feeling of flying with this ancient adventurer. The intertwining guitar melodies, harmonies and pulsating rhythm, from the start and throughout create a soundscape perfect for a sci-fi movie adventure.

I hope those in the universe, hear a little something within one or both of the projects, a tune or more, that touches them in a way that makes them happy, thoughtful, adrenalized and ready to rock the cosmos! I hope, all of you, find a tune or more you enjoy, that uplifts your soul to a state of happiness, helping you to fly to your own inner and outer space, where all the boundaries of the universe disappear and music, fills the air!!!
Cheers and peace always,
Uncle Roy

LA Songwriter Bob Beland Releases New Album “Welcome” Plus 3 Unreleased Studio Albums!

For Immediate Release

LA Songwriter Bob Beland Releases New Album “Welcome” Plus 3 Unreleased Studio Albums!

Los Angeles – Bob Beland is an American born musician/songwriter from Los Angeles, CA, where he has performed, written and recorded original music from 1973 to the present. Much to the excitement of his fans worldwide, Bob has just released his much anticipated seventh studio album “Welcome” on his own Wrong Way Works label. Along with the release of “Welcome”, Bob recently collaborated on a track for 10cc/Godley & Creme legend Kevin Godley for his forthcoming solo album!

“Welcome” is my seventh self produced solo album release and was written and recorded over 2018 at Wrong Way Works, Mar Vista, California. Extra special credit should be given to my good friend Greg Embrey for all of his help and involvement along the way. The opening track, “Rocky Up! (love theme from “The Bang Bang Theory”) is an instrumental version of a song I co-wrote earlier last year with Kevin Godley, from the acclaimed UK band 10cc and groundbreaking art rockers Godley & Crème fame, which is called “The Bang Bang Theory” that will be included as part of his first solo album “Muscle Memory” due out soon on the UK label state51conspiracy.

Bob Beland decided to release three other studio albums that he recorded over the last three years but never released until now.

“Forward and Backworks” is a conceptual idea for orchestra that I recorded in 2015. The title refers to the four opening tracks and music that has a reverse or “mirror” counterpart. The album also contains four other original compositions. The sole guest musician on the album is classical violinist Paula Kuhr from the acclaimed multi Ethnic orchestra MESTO.

“Mar Vista” was recorded in 2016 and features the only guest musician on the album, Grammy award winning classical percussionist T.J. Troy whom I met as a member of the MESTO orchestra.

“Mano Sinistra” Latin music terminology for “to be performed with the left hand” was recorded in 2017 and features the talents of acclaimed pedal steel player Greg Leisz who has recorded and performed with renowned music artists such as k.d. lang, Joni Mitchell, Eric Clapton, Van Morrison, Bob Dylan and whom I first met as a member of the Funky Kings with Jules Shear, Jack Tempchin and Richard Stekol way back in 1975. Peter Curry on drums and bass is better known as the bassist for Los Straightjackets. I’ve also worked with Pete before on my first full album “Amnesia Lane” as well as co-writing a few instrumentals for his surf group the Halibuts. Pedal steel player and premier microphone designer Dave Pearlman, The Legendary Fontenelle DuClaw on keyboards, bass, and vocals, bassist Joe McGrath and vocalist Remy Beland round out the rest of the musical guests on the album.

Now, a little background on the players who contributed their time and talents to “Welcome.”

Greg Embrey was the co-founder of the mid 70’s L.A. rock band the Furys whom I later joined as their lead guitarist in the mid 80’s. A.K.A. The Legendary Fontenelle DuClaw

Bob Gross is someone I’ve known since the early 1970’s. Among the other acts he’s worked with was Delaney Bramlett of Delaney & Bonnie fame and currently can be seen and heard gigging with the Deanna Bogart Band. Bob is also playing on “The Bang Bang Theory” for Kevin Godley as well.

Richard d’Andrea is a friend and former Furys alumi who’s been a mainstay in the L.A. rock scene since the 70’s most notably founding the Know with Gary Valentine and working with musicians such as the Roosters and Carla Olson. Richard’s just released his first solo album under the handle Raw Terra called “Mars 12 Earth 0.”

Bobby Pickett is another dear old friend who worked extensively with the great Etta James, Sugarloaf, Detective, Jimmy Page and many other top names in music.

Doug D’Martino is from an earlier incarnation of the Furys

Marty Korth is a long standing friend of mine who also spent some time in the Furys and has played bass on other songs that I’ve written and recorded over the years. He’s a great film animator as well working on many classic Walt Disney and Hanna Barbarra features.

Stephen Linsley is a new friend I met through my old buddy Jules Shear. Stephen was the original bassist in the Jim Carroll Band and is also a fine portrait photographer.

Joe Conte is yet another former member of the Furys who came in at the last minute and played some very cool harmonica for me on “Rocky Up!’

Allie Menapace is an acoustic bassist I met through my old friend Peter Curry from Los Straightjackets fame. Pete suggested Allie for my song “Welcome Me” and she came through with flying colors.

Kevin Louden is a fine pedal steel guitarist, dobro, and multi-instrumentalist I’ve gotten to know over the past few years who’s based in Frederic, Wisconsin and plays all throughout the state.

Me? I’m just a musician. You can tell me by the way I walk… Enjoy!
