While The Call (Michael Been, Tom Ferrier, Jim Goodwin and Scott Musick) got their official start in Santa Cruz, CA in 1979, its roots as a band go back to Michael Been’s childhood in Oklahoma City, where seeing Elvis Presley perform on television changed the course of his life. That early interest in musical performance inspired his career, from the very beginning performing at the age of seven on local radio and television programs, to his eventual move to Chicago at the age of 16, where he was drawn into the blues scene by Muddy Waters, Sonny Boy Williamson, and Junior Parker. Been eventually made his way to California, where he connected with drummer Scott Musick, as well as Tom Ferrier (guitar, vocals) and Jim Goodwin (keyboards, vocals) to form The Call.

Despite having their initial demos rejected by all the major labels, the band found themselves in demand by nearly every major producer in America. The Call’s debut album was ultimately produced by Hugh Padgham (David Bowie, The Police) and the band were suddenly opening acts for major artists including Peter Gabriel and Simple Minds.

The Call were signed to Mercury, Elektra and MCA, and released seven critically acclaimed albums over the next eight years, featuring several iconic hit songs including “Let The Day Begin” and “I Still Believe (Great Design).” In 1997, after a seven year break, the band reformed to release the album Heaven & Back, before disbanding once more. Michael Been began serving as sound engineer for his son Robert Levon Been’s band Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, but passed away from a heart attack while working backstage at the 2010 Pukkelpop festival in Belgium.

Now after twenty years, The Call reunited at legendary Los Angeles venue The Troubador and gave an incredible live performance with Robert Levon Been stepping into his father’s role and joining Musick, Ferrier and Goodwin for the one-of-a-kind event. For Robert – who grew up going out on the road with The Call anytime he had a break from school – the performance offered the chance to honor his musical legacy and perform nearly a dozen and a half songs from the band’s esteemed catalog. And for original members Musick, Ferrier and Goodwin, the show allowed them the opportunity to honor their friend and their own musical legacy while revisiting a bond they thought was gone forever.

Camarillo, CA – Movie aficionados and soundtrack buffs are ecstatic with the release of “Sin City – A Dame to Kill For” Original Motion Picture Soundtrack on CD by Marshall Blonstein’s Morada Music. “Sin City – A Dame To Kill For” is the highly anticipated sequel to the 2005 international smash, “Sin City”. “Sin City” grossed 74 million dollars in the U.S. and 158 million dollars worldwide. The new film is directed by Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller and follows the neo-noir crime action that made “Sin City” a great success.

The soundtrack is produced, composed and performed by Robert Rodriguez and Carl Thiel with a special Bonus track titled “Skin City” with vocals by Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler.

Los Angeles, CA – XTC fans worldwide are buzzing with excitement about the new video by Prog duo Days Between Stations featuring legendary Colin Moulding titled “The Man Who Died Two Times!” The song comes from the band’s critically acclaimed second album ‘In Extremis’. Planning for the video began last fall. In October, producer Heidi Hornbacher traveled to the UK to film Colin at his studio. In April, the group filmed the rest of the video in Los Angeles in a small theatre. Says Sepand, “This was our first video, and since we haven’t toured yet, ‘The Man Who Died Two Times’ is our first visual exposure. To me the song is the critical inflection point within the concept album -that one has to spiritually die to live again. As a group we all decided that this video would be appropriate to introduce the band. It also exposes more of our quirky and dorky side, because the other pieces are deep, long and moody. We did not have a budget for this video, everyone did this out of their goodwill and artistic integrity. There was so much energy and symbiosis and to me it felt like we were all kids again playing a game at recess. I can’t thank Heidi, Erik and Alex enough, not only for their friendship, but for their talent, integrity and inspiration. You took us to a higher realm and made this dream possible. Colin’s youthful energy, charm and boundless creativity rubbed off on us, you are an inspiration and a true gentleman. To Paul Whitehead, we are sorry you had such a terminal role…. but you played it better than Peter Sellers did in his terminal role in ‘The Party’. To Billy Sherwood… none of this would have happened without you! This was one of the highlights of my life. Love to all.”

The musical blend of Jon Anderson’s angelic vocalizations of progressive rock virtue and Jean-Luc Ponty’s awe-inspiring instrumentation of jazz-fusion & classical essence… will undeniably be spectacular!

JEAN-LUC PONTY was taught by his classically trained parents who were also music teachers. He learned to read musical notes before he learned the alphabet. Ponty was taught the violin and piano, but at the age of eleven his father asked him to choose only one instrument so he would be proficient with a single instrument instead of mediocre at several.

After graduating from the Conservatoire de Paris, it appeared that Jean-Luc was on the way to a prodigious classical music career and eventually performed with a major symphony orchestra. But Ponty also began to establish a musical appetite for jazz music which led to Jean-Luc recording his debut “bebop” album entitled Jazz Long Playing in 1964.

San Francisco, CA – Hedersleben, the cosmic Krautrock outfit from Oakland, California, featuring UK Subs member Nicky Garratt, are set to release their second album, ‘Die Neuen Welten,’ on August 26th, 2014. Hedersleben originated through the paradoxical paths of playing clubs in the streets of Oakland and The Kosmische Musik Zentrum Projekt in Hedersleben, Germany. In their first year, they have recorded two full-length albums as Hedersleben and gone on to record with the likes of Brainticket and Hawkwind’s Nik Turner. Hedersleben were featured on the new Brainticket album with founding member Joel Vandroogenbroeck (due for release later this year) co-writing a number of pieces, and various members played on Nik Turner’s acclaimed album, ‘Space Gypsy.’ In 2013 Hedersleben went on tour with Nik Turner, both as his backing band and opening act. These sonic explorers of the universe are keeping busy; late August will see them again joining Hawkwind’s Nik Turner on the late Summer/early Fall tour of North America. On the 2014 North American tour, Hedersleben will back Nik Turner as well as promote their new album, ‘Die Neuen Welten,” while introducing new pieces from their next record, ‘The Fall of Chronopolis,’ due to be recorded in 2015.

Says Nicky Garratt, “The past year has been the most musically rewarding for me since 1977. Aside from working with legendary progressive artists, it is a great sense of relief to have a universe of musical possibilities ahead.”

Die Neuen Welten ( THE NEW WORLDS ) – In 2009, Nasa launched the Kepler space telescope. Kepler discovered nearly 1,000 confirmed extrasolar planets in 76 star systems and thousands more that are yet un-confirmed. Die Neuen Welten is an aural expedition into this unveiled realm of new worlds out there in the darkness.

George Benson’s ‘Breezin’ is the best-selling jazz album of all time. It is a true virtuoso performance: a four-time Grammy nominee and two-time winner, the first album by a jazz artist to earn platinum certification.

Founder, bassist, singer and namesake of the group, Chip Z’nuff, has led the band through its highest highs as well as its most turbulent times. The band scored two major successes in 1989 with hit singles off of their self-titled debut album, the aforementioned “New Thing” as well as the powerful ballad “Fly High Michelle,” both spent 46 weeks in the Top Ten on MTV and earned them a gold record. on MTV. In 1991, the band released their second album Strength, which had Rolling Stone magazine calling them “The Hot Band Of The Year” as well as earning them numerous appearances on the Late Show with David Letterman. The mid-late ‘90s brought difficult changes, but Chip kept the Enuff Z’nuff torch burning with several tours both Stateside and overseas as well a steady stream of well-received studio albums.

Now an esteemed statesman of the music world, Chip continues to grow the EZ fanbase performing shows worldwide. Nashville, TN – Much to the excitement of his fans worldwide, legendary country music singer/songwriter Philip Claypool has released ‘Come On Back Home’, a new album poised to be his most personal, revealing album yet. Says Philip, “I wanted to do an album that expressed the core personality of who I am as a singer on both fun and emotional levels. I also, wanted the album to exhibit songs of inspiration, and on the other side of the coin my love of a good gut-buster honkytonk song.”

The album is produced by veteran hit producer Michael Lloyd. Lloyd has produced more than 100 gold and platinum records, as well as many number one singles. Says Michael, “I’ve been a record producer for many years, and it’s been my good fortune to have been involved with many great artists and projects. It’s not often that an artist comes along who is special – but Philip Claypool is truly special. I’m amazed by his talent. He has a unique way of touching you with his passion and emotion, and on his latest CD, ‘Come On Back Home’, he’s at his best.”

As with his previous releases, Philip is writer on the bulk of the album’s material and he teamed up with his pal and co-writer Jeff Silbar (“Wind Beneath My Wings”) on many of the key tracks. Most every song has a real personal life story behind it.

The album also features two additional cuts from top Nashville songsmiths and a stellar rendition of Eddie Arnold’s “You Don’t Know Me” that Claypool delivers with true Memphis soul. Philip adds, “My producer Michael Lloyd and I assembled the very best players in Nashville and we cut 14 tracks in only 2 days. I had worked with most of the guys on my previous projects and it was like a band getting back together. It was natural and most of all fun! Many of the vocals on the album were cut live on the first or second take.

Philip Claypool describes himself as a Southern-singer-songwriter. Growing up in Memphis, TN, he was raised with a love of music, wildlife conservation, hunting and the outdoors. With many musical influences ranging from gospel to rock and country, Claypool pulls together many diverse techniques in his music, but the main defining quality of his music is his emotional and passionate performances. He puts his heart and soul into everything he records and performs. ‘Come On Back Home’ is all about the real Claypool, not just another polished, picture-perfect mold of the stereotypical country artist.
