Progressive Rock Artist Dave Kerzner’s New Album “Heart Land Mines Vol. 1” To Be Released October 18th!

Featuring members from Sound of Contact, Pink Floyd, Steely Dan, Jellyfish, Kansas and others!

Progressive Rock artist Dave Kerzner, known for co-founding the band Sound of Contact with Phil Collins’ son Simon and as the keyboardist of the band Arc of Life with members of Yes is releasing a new solo album entitled “Heart Land Mines Vol. 1”. It’s an autobiographical concept album about leaving Los Angeles in the 90s after a breakup and driving cross country with a guitar to think, reflect and write songs.

The album is Kerzner’s fourth solo effort following up on his previous release “The Traveler”. It features an ensemble cast of musicians including Fernando Perdomo (Echo in the Canyon), Matt Dorsey (Sound of Contact), Durga McBroom (Pink Floyd), Elliott Randall (Steely Dan), Lyle Workman (Jellyfish, Beck), Joe Deninzon (Kansas) and more.

“This album was many years in the making,” says Kerzner. “I’ve worked on it on and off since the mid-90s. The stories in the songs are based on true events in my life when I was in my 20’s. Now, 25 years, I’m thrilled to finally present the first volume to be heard publicly!”

Dave Kerzner’s “Heart Land Mines Vol. 1” will be released on CD and digital download on his Bandcamp page and other popular album download sites on October 18th. A 6 song EP from the album called “Heart Land Mines: The Eye” is currently streaming on all major platforms.

The Lyndhurst in Tarrytown, NY – the Gilded Age mansion where “House of Dark Shadows” & “Night of Dark Shadows” were filmed!

For 2023 Lyndhurst welcomes Kathryn Leigh Scott, author, and actress, best known for playing “Maggie Evans” and “Josette DuPres”, in the original Gothic television series “Dark Shadows,” and “House of Dark Shadows” (1970), and Marie Wallace screen and Broadway actress famous for playing “Eve”, “Megan Todd”, and the incomparable “Jenny Collins” from the television series. They will be available October 21st and 22nd during the daytime at Lyndhurst for an exclusive Meet & Greet!

Ticket holders will arrive at Lyndhurst and check in at our carriage house welcome center for the event. Kathryn Leigh Scott and Marie Wallace will be ready to take photos with you, sign books, and answer your questions in two daytime sessions: The morning session is 10:30 am to 12:30 pm and the Afternoon Session is 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Books and other items will be available on-site with the event and in our Welcome Center Gift Shop. These tickets include entry into the mansion! Please select when you’d like to enter the mansion when purchasing your tickets!

All visitors are encouraged to have a pre-purchased ticket to meet with Kathryn Leigh Scott and Marie Wallace. A limited number of tickets are available for each session. The event will take place in the Courtyard Tent.

Please present printed tour tickets or have them available on your smartphone to show to Welcome Center staff when checking in for the event.

Please note that the event is sold out Saturday afternoon and for the cocktail event, but still a few tickets available for Saturday morning and Sunday.

Stockton, NJ – Initial Kick is the high-energy Philadelphia-based rock band helmed by singer / songwriter Steve E. Ojane (Angel) and lead guitarist Frankie Schaffer (Hurricane Jane.) Inspired by the influences of Mott The Hoople, Hanoi Rocks, Alice Cooper, T. Rex, and David Bowie, the boys offer up their own unique blend of songwriting and performance to the genre of arena rock with their debut album Plays With Mercury.

Steve E. Ojane replaced bassist Felix Robinson in the legendary ’70s glam band Angel in 2018 and contributed to their Billboard charting comeback album Risen and latest release Once Upon A Time. Initial Kick’s debut album Plays With Mercury features 12 tracks including a cover of The Archies “Sugar Sugar” and the first single “Tranquilizer” which dropped on September 15th.

Guitar virtuosos Daniel Reyes Llinás, Harvey Valdes, Elliott Sharp are releasing their collaborative album “String Schemas” on October 6, 2023 on 7D Media.

“In April 2022, I was about to perform in Brooklyn for the first time since the pandemic. Offering a solo set didn’t excite me much, so I invited my avant-garde jazz-wizard friend, Harvey Valdes, who had just released his superb recording of Bach’s lute works on the electric guitar. To complete the trifecta, I reached out to downtown legend, experimental guitarist, composer, and multi-instrumentalist Elliott Sharp, whom I have been a fan of for many years and recently reconnected with. Harvey and Elliott generously joined me, delivering incredible solo sets. Later, Elliott proposed closing the evening with improvisations. The vibe was so great that we decided to repeat the experience a few months later. ‘String Schemas’ serves as the documentation of those memorable moments.” – Daniel Reyes Llinás

Daniel Reyes Llinás, a Colombian composer, guitarist, and producer, derives inspiration from rhythmic and melodic angularity. He weaves atonal architectures with vibrant lyricism into his music. As a leader, Daniel has released two albums: “Molino,” a captivating collage of world and new music, and “En Remolinos,” a bold exploration that blurs the boundaries between improvisation and composition. His contributions can be heard on Parias Ensemble’s experimental “St. Mark’s sessions” and on the eclectic collaborative EP “re:SET vol:1”. Daniel has scored films, theater productions, and dance choreographies. Most recently, his solo guitar debut, “Códices,” comprising a series of modern guitar études and improvisations co-produced by Trey Gunn, is scheduled for release on 7DMedia on November 3rd, 2023.

Harvey Valdes, a guitarist of searching, sophisticated musicality, can traverse styles from avant-jazz and Middle Eastern music to improvised film scores and the compositions of Bach. Harvey has an intrepid curiosity about the guitar’s sonic and expressive range; he is also a trained player of the Arabic oud. To date, he has released four albums as a soloist/leader: “Novare”, his interpretation of Bach Lute Suites on electric guitar, “Solitude Intones Its Echo”, a set of concise, engaging solo improvisations; “PointCounterPoint”, a bristling, Mahavishnu-meets-math-rock trio album, and “Roundabout”, his solo debut featuring lyrically inventive takes on jazz standards.

Elliott Sharp is a composer, multi-instrumentalist, producer, author, and visual artist who leads the projects Orchestra Carbon, SysOrk, and Terraplane and whose compositional strategies encompass fractal geometry, chaos theory, algorithmic approaches, genetic metaphors, and new techniques for graphic notation. He has been awarded the Berlin Prize, a Guggenheim Fellowship, and fellowships from the Foundation for Contemporary Art and the Center for Transformative Media. Sharp is the subject of the documentary “Doing The Don’t” and has been featured on NPR’s All Things Considered. His composition “Storm of the Eye”, for violinist Hilary Hahn, appeared on her Grammy-winning album “In 27 Pieces.”

Prog ensemble Circuline are excited to announce a new lineup! Keyboardist/vocalist Andrew Colyer (Robert Berry’s 3.2 Band, The Tubes), drummer Darin Brannon (Downing Grey, Surface Tension), and lead vocalist Natalie Brown (Evita, Rocky Horror Picture Show) welcome new band members Shelby Logan Warne (Kyros) on bass and vocals, and Dave Bainbridge on guitars (Strawbs, IONA, Lifesigns).

Six years in the making, Circuline’s new album “C.O.R.E.”, released on the Inner Nova Music label, will be available as an album of eight tracks available in a gatefold digipak CD, with an eight-page booklet of lyrics and liner notes. The album will be released on Friday, September 20th, 2024.

This album explores themes in romantic relationships, surviving abuse, finding one’s own personal power, and the turbulent times in which we live. Where does the album title come from? Collectively, we’ve all lived through a unique time in history, and the band has had quite a few personnel changes, which are discussed in the new “Behind the Scenes” Album Launch video. We are Circuline. We are Original. We are Reimagined. We are Evolving. We are the “C.O.R.E.”.

Says Andrew, “Written and recorded between 2018 and 2023, for this album we really wanted to keep all of the writing “in-house” within the band. So, the majority of the material was written by myself, Darin, and Natalie. Billy Spillane had input into almost every song before he decided it was time to move on.  Two of the songs were co-written with Matt Dorsey, who is still a good friend and colleague of ours – I’m performing with his band at the International ProgStock Festival this year. Alek Darson had invaluable input during the writing and arranging stages. Shelby and Dave brought new perspectives and their own unique artistry to these songs, and we couldn’t be happier with the result. The icing on the cake is to have our good friend Joe Deninzon (Kansas, Stratospheerius) as a Guest Artist for some killer electric violin parts!”

MAGMA 50th Anniversary Vinyl Box Set of “Mekanïk Destruktïw Kommandöh” Release Delayed Until October 27, 2023

The release of MAGMA’s birthday present in celebration of their iconic third album, which arrives as a lavish box set limited to 2,000 copies, is being delayed due to a manufacturing issue. This has been solved by upgrading the paper quality of the included artbook to an even higher standard. “Une histoire de Mekanïk – 50 Years of Mekanïk Destruktïw Kommandöh” will hit stores three weeks later than originally announced on October 27, 2023.

Those customers, who ordered a box set directly from MAGMA’s shop or the SPKR and Prophecy label shops can currently expect their copy close to the original release date around October 6, 2023. In case there are no further unexpected delays, MAGMA will also be able to offer boxes at their next live events. Please see below for all currently confirmed dates.

On “Une histoire de Mekanïk – 50 Years of Mekanïk Destruktïw Kommandöh”, the French avant-garde pioneers and inventors of zeuhl follow the trail of their classic third full-length from the remastered original recording through decades of various incarnations on 7 vinyl LPs!

MAGMA comment: “With this box set, we want to take you all right into the heart of the composition of our most emblematic work, which allows you to follow its evolution throughout the 50 years of its existence”, mastermind Christan Vander explains. “When we performed ‘Mekanïk Destruktïw Kommandöh’ for the first time, we did not imagine even in our wildest dreams that people would still want us to play this album more than 50 years later. This anniversary deserves to be celebrated, and this edition is a gift for us as well!”

Iconic French avant-garde rockers MAGMA have joined forces with Prophecy Productions to create a lavish boxed set under exclusive license from Seventh Records to celebrate the 50th anniversary entitled “Une histoire de Mekanïk – 50 Years of Mekanïk Destruktïw Kommandöh” of their legendary milestone release and third studio album “Mekanïk Destruktïw Kommandöh” (1973).

Apart from a number of special collectors’ items, this box set limited to 2,000 copies contains seven vinyl LPs ranging from the original album to live recordings and other rare materials related to “Mekanïk Destruktïw Kommandöh” (henceforth abbreviated as “MDK” in this text), of which several were previously unreleased and/or appear on vinyl for the first time.

The albums are numbered in chronological order:

LP 1 “1972 – Paris ORTF”
This is definitely one of the first recorded live versions of “MDK”; and it might even be the first – if anybody could exactly remember this after 50 years. At that time, the masterpiece was still a work in progress.

LP 2 “1973 – Choeurs de la Storchhaus”
This studio recording can be regarded as a demo and it features the choir that played “MDK” live at the SIGMA festival in November 1972. It was first released on CD in 1989 and now appears for the first time on vinyl.

LP 3 “Mekanïk Destruktïw Kommandöh” (original version)
Despite more than 30 published studio and live recordings, many consider this album to represent MAGMA’s ultimate masterpiece. At the time, Christian Vander had taken the artistic destiny of the French band fully into his hands. The most striking development was the massive impact of the vocalists and choir. This classic was carefully remastered for this edition.

LP 4 (Side 1) “1994 – Les voix de Magma”
This previously unreleased track was recorded live with the addition of a 60-piece choir.

LP 4 (Side 2) “1995 – Babyaga la sorcière”
This surprising adaptation of “MDK” was recorded at the Espace Lumière in Epinay-sur-Seine, France on October 15, 1995 during the second concert celebrating MAGMA’s 25th birthday. It features an impressive choir of children and an instrumental ensemble of teenagers. It was released on CD in 1996, but never before on vinyl.

LP 5 “2000 – Paris Trianon Theater”
This version was recorded in Paris at the Theatre du Trianon during MAGMA’s 30th anniversary celebration and was previously only released on CD as part of a box set in 2001.

LP 6 “2005 – Paris Le Triton”
During May 2005, MAGMA booked the club Le Triton in Paris, changed their programme each week, and brought illustrious past members back to the stage to perform with them. On this recording from May 21, Christian Vander was reunited with legendary bass player Jannick Top. Previously only appearing on DVD, this is the first audio only release of this remarkable event.

LP 7 “2021 – Opéra de Rennes”
This previously unreleased version captures the new MAGMA line-up, which is more vibrant than ever!

For connoisseurs of avant-garde rock, MAGMA needs no introduction. The visionary French band that was founded in Paris by self-educated drummer and percussionist Christian Vander are towering giants within and beyond their genre.

Although MAGMA have been variously filed under avant-garde rock, progressive rock, jazz rock, and other equally fitting terms, the band has also created a sub-genre of their own, which is dubbed zeuhl or zeuhl rock. This term has also been adapted by other bands inspired by the style particularly in France and Japan but also elsewhere.

Christian Vander has created his own lyrical cosmos for MAGMA, in which humanity has destroyed earth and fled to a planet called Kobaïa that has remained at the center of his musical works. With his disturbing vision of humanity’s ecological and spiritual development, Vander was far ahead of his times and quite prophetic.

Most MAGMA lyrics are sung in the fictional language Kobaïan, which was invented by Vander and mainly uses phonetic traits of Germanic and Slavonic languages to enhance the musical expression of the band.

With “Une histoire de Mekanïk – 50 Years of Mekanïk Destruktïw Kommandöh”, MAGMA celebrate their classic album’s 50th anniversary by giving themselves and their dedicated following a beautiful present in the shape of a lavish limited box set that follows the massive trail of their iconic third full-length from the original through decades of various incarnations.
