Hard Rockers RUFFYUNZ To Release Third Album Featuring Members of Vanilla Fudge, Guns N’ Roses, Dio, Cactus and Others!

For Immediate Release

Hard Rockers RUFFYUNZ To Release Third Album Featuring Members of Vanilla Fudge, Guns N’ Roses, Dio, Cactus and Others!

RUFFYUNZ is a partnership between bassist Randy Pratt (Cactus/The Lizards), Emmy winning engineer/guitarist JZ Barrell, and singer Ed Terry and a collection of drum, guitar and keyboard masters. Guest artists featured on the band’s new album “RUFFYUNZ III” include legendary Carmine Appice who dominates the drums (Vanilla Fudge, Cactus, BBA, Rod Stewart), Pat Travers, Pat Thrall (Pat Travers, Glenn Hughes, Meatloaf), Bumblefoot (Guns N’ Roses, Sons of Apollo), Tony Franklin (The Firm), Dave Meniketti (Y&T), Jim McCarty (Cactus), Vinnie Moore (UFO), Derek Sherinian (Alice Cooper, Sons of Apollo), Tracy G (Dio), Billy “Spaceman” Patterson (Miles Davis) and others!

Each RUFFYUNZ record has its own vibe, so it’s hard to say “The Best”, but these seasoned, “seen it all” KOOL KATZ really step up and put their BACKS into these tracks. Having the bassist, especially with his unique, other worldly effects pedal sounds be the co-producer of this heavy riff rock definitely gives the music a “Thick, richness” that you sense subliminally.

“Funky, Heavy & Tight” is RUFFYUNZ credo!

Bassist Randy Pratt on bass, pedals and riffs and is best known for his work with The Lizards & Cactus. Singer Ed Terry has sung live with Stevie Wonder, Sister Sledge, John Oates, Sissy Houston, Slash and recorded with John Lennon, Keith Richards, Talking Heads, Simply Red, Little Steven, David Bowie, Rod Stewart, Fleetwood Mac, David Lee Roth, Madonna, Whitney Houston, Aretha Franklin and Tina Turner! JZ Barrell handles recording, engineering, mixing and arranging…he earns his writing credits.

Says Randy, “Still written bass/drums first, with a whole new cast of STAR POWER. Still at the sweet spot where Black Sabbath and James Brown meet. The sound is Classic but somehow unique, in our own universe.”

Carmine Appice, literally the man who created modern rock drumming in 1966, ‘The GodFather’, Glenn Hughes called him ‘The last man playing’. Still at the top of his game, drives these tracks into groove heaven.

Here’s what the press has said about the first two RUFFYUNZ albums:

This nine-track album has a great mixture of rock and funk, with powerful vocals and heavy guitar riffs…This amazing album was well performed, recorded, produced and written and I highly recommend this album for your rock library.” – Oasis Entertainment

Second album for Ruffyunz, partnership between Randy Pratt (Cactus/ The Lizards), JZ Barrell (Emmy Award Winning producer) & singer Ed Terry is a collection of LARGE musicians. Among the guests on this exciting Record, the legendary Bobby Rondinelli on drums (Black Sabbath, Rainbow, BOC), Don Airey at keyboards (Deep Purple),and a bevy of guitarists from the likes of Dave Maniketti (Y&T), Pat Thrall (Pat Travers, Glenn Hughes, Meatloaf, Asia), Tracy G. (DIO) and Joel Hoekstra (Whitesnake). The result is excellent: 9 songs with a great blend of rock-blues and funk, with vocals powerful and fiery guitar riffs.” – CLASSIC ROCK, ITALIA

Violent riffs and elastic tunes: veteran artists find new twists and turns on their new venture and invite Pat Travers to traverse a different expanse.” – DMME.net

The overall feel of the 9 songs on this debut is funky hard rock, the groove laden tunes proving to be a launching pad for Terry’s powerful vocals and plenty of white hot soloing from Berlin & Travers especially. Pretty heavy stuff here on this debut release from Ruffyunz, a crunchy blues/funk/hard rock project that is off to a great start thanks to some inspired performances and memorable material.” – Sea of Tranquility

With the 3rd song, “PRESSURE”, the whole armada launched an attack Wirth VOLCANIC FIREPOWER. The assault is given by a horde of brass, playing in unison, fiery and hyper hard guitar riffs, a voice pushed to the EXTREME, but held by the FIRE OF GOD and intermediaries always funky. This title is undoubtedly to be placed in the BEST SONGS IN THE HISTORY OF ROCK! WHAT A SLAP!” 10 / 10. MAREK DEVEAUX – profilprog.com

To simplify the analysis, we will summarize Ruffyunz’s musical style to the first two words of the title of the seventh song on his plate: ‘Funky’ and ‘Heavy’ and we will add, for good measure, the term ‘Classic Rock’! Black Sabbath or not, whatever, Ruffyunz is a real pleasure to listen to and therefore highly recommendable in these difficult times!” – Music In Belgium

Rock Legends Hurricane Drop New Video For Queen Cover of “Under Pressure” In Support of First New Album Release In Over 20 Years Through Deko Entertainment

Stockton, NJ – Hurricane was formed in 1983, originally featuring current Foreigner lead vocalist Kelly Hansen (vocals/rhythm guitar), Robert Sarzo (guitar), Tony Cavazo (bass), and Jay Schellen (drums) currently with Yes. Hurricane released four albums: Take What You Want (1985), Over the Edge (1988), Slave to the Thrill (1990), and Liquifury (2001). Over the Edge was its album featuring the charting song “I’m on to You,” which peaked at No. 33 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Tracks Chart in 1988.

In 2010 Sarzo and Cavazo, founding members, reunited and recruited drummer Mike Hansen. In 2021 Australian-born singer Dan Schumann, best known as a member of the Las Vegas headliner vocal group Tenors of Rock, joined. Hurricane dropped their first single “Rock Star Cheater” on July 21st, and critics and fans are taking notice.

The record is called ‘Reconnected’ and considering the impact of the material, they are doing just that, reconnecting back to the music scene.  The first single and opening track, Rockstar Cheater, is what this band is about, the cracking beat, fast guitars and an insane solo. Is Hurricane here to stay?  I hope so as they have released an album that you will not turn off.”  – Metal Exiles

Music Legends Soft Machine Release New Album “Other Doors” and Announce Forthcoming Tour Dates

For Immediate Release

Music Legends Soft Machine Release New Album “Other Doors” and Announce Forthcoming Tour Dates

Five years after the release of their last studio album, legendary UK musical institution, Soft Machine, return with a brand new album, “Other Doors.” Boasting new material and two numbers drawn from their extensive historical repertoire, “Other Doors” finds the band in their usual fiery form.

Featuring John Etheridge (guitars), Theo Travis (saxes, flutes, Fender Rhodes piano, electronics), Fred Thelonious Baker (Fretless bass), John Marshall (drums), Other Doors also features two guest appearances from long-serving bassist Roy Babbington, who retired from the band in 2021.

“Other Doors” was recorded at Temple Music Studios, a facility owned by the late Jon Hiseman during July and August 2022. It’s a location of which the band is particularly fond, explains John Etheridge. “Working at Jon Hiseman’s studio was special, especially with Ru Lemer who is a brilliant engineer. He’s fantastically quick and that’s very good as we record mainly live in the studio. It’s come out really well and I think it sounds great.”

That ability to work quickly on takes as an ensemble has resulted in a fresh-sounding series of top-flight performances whose typically knotty and sometimes complex themes frequently give way to explosively discursive improvisations. As Theo Travis observes, “The interesting thing about recording free improvisations is you’re not playing to a plan or a grid or a blueprint, so you don’t know what’s coming, and you don’t know what’s coming until it’s gone. At which moment you’re thinking about the next thing.”

The album is brimming with that fast-moving creativity. It’s been a kind of tradition with the group to include new arrangements of older Soft Machine numbers from the band’s illustrious back catalogue. These have included numbers as varied as “Chloe and the Pirates,” “Kings and Queens,” “Out-Bloody-Rageous,” etc.

Along with exciting new compositions, on “Other Doors” they’ve revisited the very first album, originally released in 1968, to include Kevin Ayers’ “Joy Of A Toy.” Fred Baker, makes his studio debut with Soft Machine. A well-known figure on the Canterbury Scene not only is he the perfect choice for the group but he’s also a long-term fan of the repertoire.

The album also contains “Penny Hitch,” a track originally heard on 1973’s Soft Machine “Seven.” This features the first of two appearances of Roy Babbington who provides the bass lines underpinning Karl Jenkins’ composition while Fred plays the sinuous lead melody on his fretless bass. The pair also worked together as a duo on “Now! Is The Time,” a number originally based on a theme Babbington brought into the sessions, with Fred and Roy both adding and expanding the scope of the piece.

If the album ushers in a new member in the shape of Fred Baker, it also acts as a fond farewell to drummer John Marshall, who joined Soft Machine midway through the recording of 1972’s “Fifth.” At the age of 81 Marshall has decided to retire making “Other Doors” his final studio album with the group, and the final album of his glorious career. Indeed, Marshall is in whip-cracking form throughout the album bringing his trademark musicality and decisive presence. With “Other Doors,” he brings his distinguished career to a rousing conclusion.

Intense, celebratory, and consistently impressive. “Other Doors” is the sound of a group determined to press forwards with an integrity and sense of purpose that’s quintessentially and definitively Soft Machine.

Electric Forgiveness, A Lysergic Mood Journey of Epic Proportions, To Release Debut Album “Original Score” Featuring Contributions by Rabbit (The Who), Steve Kilbey (The Church) and Doug MacMillan (The Connells)

For Immediate Release

Electric Forgiveness, A Lysergic Mood Journey of Epic Proportions, To Release Debut Album “Original Score” Featuring Contributions by Rabbit (The Who), Steve Kilbey (The Church) and Doug MacMillan (The Connells)

An auditory movie that cleanses the third eye while blinding the other two!

A Lysergic Mood Journey of Epic Proportions

“Original Score” is a 43-minute piece of music consisting of 11 uninterrupted tracks. The intent is for it to be listened to all at once, in the dark, accompanied by someone you trust, and a Lava Lamp.

“Electric Forgiveness was initially a side project that I developed with John Bundrick,” said Third of Never founder Jon Dawson. “We (Third of Never) were recording at the House of Vibes in New Jersey at the same time as The Smithereens. At one point we couldn’t book sessions due to their mixing deadline, so I put the guitar down and dove into the world of electronica.”

The new Electric Forgiveness album “Original Score” was also conceived during a break in Third of Never’s recording schedule.

“I obtained a Korg Kasoscillator synthesizer and did not come up for air for days,” Dawson said. “Within a week I had the basis for another Electric Forgiveness record. This led to quite a bit of cross-pollination between the Third of Never and Electric Forgiveness projects.”

While dabs of electronica floated into the Third of Never album (slated for an April 2024 release), Electric Forgiveness inhaled some guitar and vocal tracks from the Third of Never camp.

“We’re lucky to have Doug MacMillan of The Connells as our vocalist in Third of Never,” Dawson said. “We sampled his voice along with a Steve Kilbey cameo and bits of my guitar for the Electric Forgiveness record. You’d think it would be terrifying trying to juggle two albums at once, but they actually informed each other rather nicely.”

“Steve Potak (The Connells) did 90% of the keyboards on this album in one take,” Dawson said. “What makes this even more remarkable is that he didn’t really hear any of the tracks until he sat down to record his parts.”

Vocalist/multi-instrumentalist Sara Bell was enlisted for Electric Forgiveness after participating in a Third of Never session.

“Her voice is as pure as you’ll ever hear, so I asked her to come in and improvise over sections of the Electric Forgiveness music,” Dawson said. “Her performance elevated everything. There’s a beautiful eeriness in her voice that pulls the listener in instantly.”

Kurt Reil of the Grip Weeds contributed drums to the album.

“This is the most amazing recording of Kurt’s drumming I’ve ever heard,” Dawson said. “He usually has to be concerned with ‘playing for the song’ and finding the proper spots to explode, but with this music, there aren’t any songs in the traditional sense, so he’s allowed to just blow for 40 minutes, and his performance is staggering.”

Bassist Michael Kelly (Femmes of Rock, Grip Weeds, Gene Simmons) came to mind after Dawson remembered a conversation they’d had about music over a decade earlier.

“The Grip Weeds and Third of Never played at a music festival in Philadelphia around a decade ago,” Dawson said. “Michael and his wife had a cookout for both bands afterward. While we were there I played Michael bits of the first Electric Forgiveness album. One piece reminded him of Tomita – which he was a fan of, so when it came time to find a bassist for this new project he seemed like a natural fit. He did a great job adding melody to this sprawling ball of sound.”

The album will be released on October 15, 2023 by Broken Sound Tapes in conjunction with 343 Records and Jam Recordings. The initial formats will be CD, cassette and digital.

Intergalactic Prog Legends Ozric Tentacles Announce New Album “Lotus Unfolding” Out Via KScope on October 20, 2023

Ozric Tentacles return with their new excursion into the worlds of the magical and brilliant with another aural treat!

“Lotus Unfolding” is the new release from UK based instrumental intergalactic travelers Ozric Tentacles. Six new tunes have been added to the Ozric universe, conceived, written and recorded in their own ‘Blue Bubble’ studio in Fife.

The album was recorded, written and produced during 2022 – 2023 by Ed Wynne with a little sonic help from Silas. Mastered by Adam Goodlet and illustrated with some nicely detailed ethereal artwork by Steve McKeown and Sally Clark.

“Lotus Unfolding” is another sonically illustrated excursion through the musical realms the band has explored in their latest chapter. Album opener “Storm In A Teacup” kicks the album off in spectacular style traversing the realms of time and space with flair and virtuosic poise. It’s followed by the groove driven “Deep Blue Shade”, whose melodies are vividly brought to life by Ed Wynne exquisite trademark guitar playing. This is swiftly accompanied by the serene title track – as close to a musical yoga session at the center of the hippocampus you’ll ever experience.

Ozric Tentacles’ aural synapses buzz throughout the album to channel the band’s limitless creativity, making “Lotus Unfolding” the perfect conduit of the spiritual and the physical. It’s an essential addition to the band’s catalogue.

Ed Wynne comments: The concept is, as usual, wide & open to interpretation but basically is a sonically illustrated excursion through some of the musical realms we found ourselves in this time around. Designed to elevate and delight the senses, should that be required, because if the day feels like an unfolding lotus, it’s probably going to be a good one!

“Lotus Unfolding” line up consists of Ed Wynne (Guitars, Synth and Bass) and Silas Wynne (Modular Synth and Keyboards) . Alongside Ed and Silas is Brandi Wynne (bass), Saskia Maxwell (Flute), Tim Wallander (Drums) and Paul Hankin (Percussion).

Lotus Unfolding” track list:

1. Storm In A Teacup
2. Deep Blue Shade
3. Lotus Unfolding
4. Crumplepenny
5. Green Carnation
6. Burundi Spaceport

“Lotus Unfolding” will be available on CD Digipak, Limited Marble LP with limited die cut sleeve, Blue LP also with limited die cut sleeve, Black LP and available digitally.

Preorder HERE: https://ozrictentacles.lnk.to/Lotus_Unfolding

Alongside the announcement of the new album, the band will be heading out on tour for a co-headline run with fellow label mates Gong in November 2023 and picking up for the second run in 2024.

One of the most influential bands to emerge from the UK’s festival scene, Ozric Tentacles formed during the solstice at Stonehenge Free Festival 1983, going on to become psychedelic staples at Glastonbury and other festivals. The creative vision of multi-instrumentalist Ed Wynne, the Ozrics’ uniquely trippy soundscapes connect fans of progressive rock, psychedelia and dance music culture.

MAGMA Announce Lavish 50th Anniversary Vinyl Box Set of “Mekanïk Destruktïw Kommandöh”

For Immediate Release

MAGMA Announce Lavish 50th Anniversary Vinyl Box Set of “Mekanïk Destruktïw Kommandöh”

MAGMA is making the world of progressive music a massive birthday present in celebration of their iconic third album in the shape of a lavish box set, which is limited to 2,000 copies. Entitled “Une histoire de Mekanïk – 50 Years of Mekanïk Destruktïw Kommandöh”, the French avant-garde pioneers and inventors of zeuhl follow the trail of their classic full-length from the remastered original recording through decades of various incarnations on 7 vinyl LPs!

MAGMA comment: “With this box set, we want to take you all right into the heart of the composition of our most emblematic work, which allows you to follow its evolution throughout the 50 years of its existence”, mastermind Christan Vander explains. “When we performed ‘Mekanïk Destruktïw Kommandöh’ for the first time, we did not imagine even in our wildest dreams that people would still want us to play this album more than 50 years later. This anniversary deserves to be celebrated, and this edition is a gift for us as well!”

Iconic French avant-garde rockers MAGMA have joined forces with Prophecy Productions to create a lavish boxed set under exclusive license from Seventh Records to celebrate the 50th anniversary entitled “Une histoire de Mekanïk – 50 Years of Mekanïk Destruktïw Kommandöh” of their legendary milestone release and third studio album “Mekanïk Destruktïw Kommandöh” (1973).

Apart from a number of special collectors’ items, this box set limited to 2,000 copies contains seven vinyl LPs ranging from the original album to live recordings and other rare materials related to “Mekanïk Destruktïw Kommandöh” (henceforth abbreviated as “MDK” in this text), of which several were previously unreleased and/or appear on vinyl for the first time.

The albums are numbered in chronological order:

LP 1 “1972 – Paris ORTF”
This is definitely one of the first recorded live versions of “MDK”; and it might even be the first – if anybody could exactly remember this after 50 years. At that time, the masterpiece was still a work in progress.

LP 2 “1973 – Choeurs de la Storchhaus”
This studio recording can be regarded as a demo and it features the choir that played “MDK” live at the SIGMA festival in November 1972. It was first released on CD in 1989 and now appears for the first time on vinyl.

LP 3 “Mekanïk Destruktïw Kommandöh” (original version)
Despite more than 30 published studio and live recordings, many consider this album to represent MAGMA’s ultimate masterpiece. At the time, Christian Vander had taken the artistic destiny of the French band fully into his hands. The most striking development was the massive impact of the vocalists and choir. This classic was carefully remastered for this edition.

LP 4 (Side 1) “1994 – Les voix de Magma”
This previously unreleased track was recorded live with the addition of a 60-piece choir.

LP 4 (Side 2) “1995 – Babyaga la sorcière”
This surprising adaptation of “MDK” was recorded at the Espace Lumière in Epinay-sur-Seine, France on October 15, 1995 during the second concert celebrating MAGMA’s 25th birthday. It features an impressive choir of children and an instrumental ensemble of teenagers. It was released on CD in 1996, but never before on vinyl.

LP 5 “2000 – Paris Trianon Theater”
This version was recorded in Paris at the Theatre du Trianon during MAGMA’s 30th anniversary celebration and was previously only released on CD as part of a box set in 2001.

LP 6 “2005 – Paris Le Triton”
During May 2005, MAGMA booked the club Le Triton in Paris, changed their programme each week, and brought illustrious past members back to the stage to perform with them. On this recording from May 21, Christian Vander was reunited with legendary bass player Jannick Top. Previously only appearing on DVD, this is the first audio only release of this remarkable event.

LP 7 “2021 – Opéra de Rennes”
This previously unreleased version captures the new MAGMA line-up, which is more vibrant than ever!

For connoisseurs of avant-garde rock, MAGMA needs no introduction. The visionary French band that was founded in Paris by self-educated drummer and percussionist Christian Vander are towering giants within and beyond their genre.

Although MAGMA have been variously filed under avant-garde rock, progressive rock, jazz rock, and other equally fitting terms, the band has also created a sub-genre of their own, which is dubbed zeuhl or zeuhl rock. This term has also been adapted by other bands inspired by the style particularly in France and Japan but also elsewhere.

Christian Vander has created his own lyrical cosmos for MAGMA, in which humanity has destroyed earth and fled to a planet called Kobaïa that has remained at the center of his musical works. With his disturbing vision of humanity’s ecological and spiritual development, Vander was far ahead of his times and quite prophetic.

Most MAGMA lyrics are sung in the fictional language Kobaïan, which was invented by Vander and mainly uses phonetic traits of Germanic and Slavonic languages to enhance the musical expression of the band.

With “Une histoire de Mekanïk – 50 Years of Mekanïk Destruktïw Kommandöh”, MAGMA celebrate their classic album’s 50th anniversary by giving themselves and their dedicated following a beautiful present in the shape of a lavish limited box set that follows the massive trail of their iconic third full-length from the original through decades of various incarnations. Zeuhl forever!

Chances are that if you are a true music enthusiast, especially of guitar-driven Southern rock and blues, you have heard of Macon, Georgia’s official music ambassador Joey Stuckey. The blind producer and recording artist launched a new music festival in his hometown on September 29, 2017. The festival, “Joey Stuckey Alive Day,” hosted an array of talented musicians from across the state of Georgia. This free, family-friendly event was held in celebration of the anniversary of Stuckey’s surviving brain tumor surgery as a child. While the brain tumor left Stuckey blind and with other health challenges, his parents started celebrating the anniversary of the successful removal of the brain tumor as a way to turn what could have been a traumatic experience for a child into a triumphant experience!

Stuckey sees his “Alive Day” as a chance to connect with family, friends and fans and to revel in the joy of living and music. It is a day dedicated to positivity and to uplifting the community. The inaugural concert featured 8 artists, a variety of activities for families, food trucks, perfect weather and over 500 music-lovers in attendance! Mayor Robert Reichert honored Stuckey by issuing a proclamation naming September 29th “Joey Stuckey’s Alive Day in Macon/Bibb.” The second annual festival in 2018 saw around 1500 attendees.

Says Stuckey, “The outpouring of love and support is humbling. I am looking forward to this year’s festival!”
