Hollywood, CA – Exhibit Records announces the release of a Special 50th Anniversary Numbered Limited Edition album of Trini Lopez, “At PJ’s.” The 200 gram vinyl record is beautifully presented in a sturdy old style gatefold jacket featuring the original album art work and for the first time includes the lyrics to all the tunes. The back of each album is foil-stamped with its unique number.

With the release of this album in April 1963 Trini Lopez became one of the biggest singing stars of the Folk Revival. Trini Lopez, “At PJ’s” made it to #2 on the Billboard charts and stayed in the Top 40 for over a year. The album included the chart-topping “If I Had a Hammer” which reached number one in 36 countries and was a radio favorite for many years. The hit single sold more than 4 million copies and the album sold over a million and was awarded a gold record.

This was the album that made Lopez an instant success and the live party-a-go-go atmosphere of the record did much to put Trini’s likable energy over the top. What Lopez did, at the head of a trio was to make folk-pop swing. Other songs include “This Land Is Your Land,” and “Gotta Travel On.” It could be surmised that by treating such material in this fashion, Lopez had a tiny influence upon the subsequent folk-rock movement…though, Lopez was more the all-around entertainer with a Latin lilt than he was a pure folk singer, so you also get “America” (from West Side Story), “La Bamba,” Ray Charles’ “What’d I Say,” “Volare,” and “When the Saints Go Marching In.”

The emergent Exhibit Records has rapidly curated an eclectic catalog of classic recordings and gaining notice for exquisite mastering, high quality pressings and detail to the fine art of exceptional package design.

London, UK – Prog Metal is alive and well in the UK with HeKz’s exciting new second release titled CAERUS! Drawing influences in equal parts from heavy metal legends and prog rock luminaries, HeKz seek to take the original progressive metal blueprint and rewrite it for themselves. As ever, the song is king, a trait which sets them apart from many of their peers.

HeKz’s debut album TABULA RASA laid a firm foundation, and now follow up effort CAERUS sees the band striving to fuse the two contrasting elements of their sound to produce something truly unique. The familiar cornerstones of the band’s style are still present; the commanding vocal delivery of Matt Young and the characteristic twin guitars of Al Beveridge and Tom Smith are this time augmented by the addition of James Messenger’s swirling synths and chunky Hammond, all kept in line by the tasteful and precise drumming of Kirk Brandham.

CAERUS is an album of firsts for the band, most notably it marks their debut as a five-piece, alongside a supporting cast of guest musicians including renowned cellist Audrey Riley. Sweden – Possibly one of the most talented composer and keyboardist to emerge from Sweden, Pär Lindh will be releasing a new classical CD titled ‘Three Christmas Concertos’. For those in the progressive rock community Pär Lindh is considered a keyboard wizard – so much so that he was chosen to play keys for the reunion of the legendary Nice (a prestigious position only held by keyboard visionary Keith Emerson). With the release of several highly acclaimed albums, Pär Lindh has garnered worldwide acclaim. And now, for the first time, he has released a purely classical Christmas album!

Says Pär, “I have every Christmas since my youth been listening to the ‘Arcangelo Corelli’ concerto (as well as Greg Lake’s ‘I Believe In Father Christmas’) so it became a natural idea once I had my own Christmas piece. When I rewrote my concerto 2011 and extended it from the three movements I composed 1979-1981 to four movements. I found then that the third movement had a distinct Christmas carracter. And since my idea is to write four concertos to form a modern version of the four seasons suite by Vivaldi. This Christmas concerto would then have the nickname ‘The Winter’. So in the future there will be the spring, summer and autumn.”

This is the first release by Pär’s new record label based in Sweden called NORDVERK CLASSICAL MASTERWORKS. Next release is due for early 2015. You will find on this album a new work, which has been predicted to become a future classic, as well as two well-known classical Christmas concertos played in such a way as to give listeners who are familiar with this music a possibility to hear it performed in a new light. ‘Three Christmas Concertos’ includes the first ever recording of Pär’s concerto ‘Then Svenska Julkonserten’, which was recorded winter 2013/2014.

The premiere which took place in Sweden on December 4, 2011 was a huge success. Says Pär, “The work recieved thunderous applause after each movement and on one occasion even during a movement. I realised then that this work had the quality to go directly to the hearts of an audience. In November 2013, we recorded the three concertos. Kennet Boman oboe, Anders Lagerqvist kapellmeister and the orchestra has beautifully captured the mood of my work. Manfredini, having written several Christmas concertos, we choose this lovely work to be the sweet balacing piece in C-major between two concertos both in minor keys and of greater length. It has also been a pleasure to record this version of ‘Corellis’ famous concerto.”

Terry Bozzio has worked with world-class artists such as Frank Zappa, Jeff Beck, and Steve Vai, and Rolling Stone listed him as the fifth greatest drummer in rock. On Thursday, he stopped by Yoshi’s at the tail end of this tour which celebrates the 50th anniversary of his first drum lesson.

Bozzio, 63, has been traveling across North America for nearly three months now with his wife, Mayumi; and drum tech, Ben, who has the tedious job of assembling the “sculpture” (as Bozzio likes to call his behemoth melodic drum kit), at every show. The enormous structure virtually encases him with only a tiny three-foot opening to view the audience.

The “sculpture” features 26 toms, two snares, eight bass drums, 53 cymbals, 22 pedals, and a whole lot more. Bozzio plays on two-and-a-half octaves of tuned tom-toms and eight notes of bass drum. There are 22 pedals that have to be fine-tuned every day so they don’t interfere with each other. If you’d like a more accurate accounting of his kit, click this link.

As the show began, Bozzio climbed into his kit while playing several mini shakers that set the tone for the first song, “Africa.” The first set ran an hour and included “Flute Loops,” and a composition called “Debussy,” a piece inspired by one of his classical music heroes, Claude Debussy.

The feature length documentary offers an entertaining exploration of the power of rock music as a force for social change & liberation.

The film by Larry Schweikart and Marc Leif is based on Schweikart’s book “Seven Events That Made America America.” It shows how music become a liberating force behind the Iron Curtain and helped give strength to the anti-communist revolution.

The documentary features interviews with several well-known rock musicians, including David Paich (Toto), Robby Krieger (The Doors), Jimmy Haslip (Yellowjackets), and Rudy Sarzo (Quiet Riot), and Mark Stein (Vanilla Fudge), as well as individuals who experienced life behind the Soviet controlled side of the wall.

The official motion picture soundtrack for “Rockin’ the Wall” includes more than a dozen original or newly performed songs, featuring powerful re-makes of 60’s and 70’s classics “Ball of Confusion,” “People Got to be Free,” and “Train Kept a Rollin’” as well as original songs by Mark Stein of Vanilla Fudge, Peter Rivera, and Mother’s Finest, as well as all songs performed in the film.

Jon Anderson is undoubtedly one of the most recognizable voices in progressive rock as the original lead vocalist and creative force behind YES. Anderson was the author and a major creative influence behind the ground-breaking album ‘Fragile’ as well as the series of epic, complex pieces such as “Awaken”, “Gates of Delirium” and especially “Close to the Edge” which were central to the band’s success. Additionally, Anderson co-authored the group’s biggest hits, including “I’ve Seen All Good People”, “Roundabout”, and “Owner of a Lonely Heart”. In addition, Jon Anderson had great success with a series of albums he did with Vangelis, and most recently released the critically-acclaimed solo album entitled “Survival and Other Stories” (GONZO Multimedia). In the fall of 2014 Jon Anderson teamed up with jazz violin legend Jean-Luc Ponty to form the AndersonPonty Band.

Matt Malley is an Oscar, Grammy and Golden Globe nominated songwriter who is best known for co-founding the multi-platinum selling rock band Counting Crows back in the early 90’s. Winter In Eden, a dark yet beautiful cocktail of power and passion. Their music builds from delightful symphonic instrumentals to crunching aggressive Metal. Between 2009 and 2013, the band released two full length albums, two EP’s and have entertained fans throughout the UK and Europe with numerous tours and festival appearances. The debut album ‘Awakening’ was recognised as one of the albums of the year. The track “Lies”, from ‘Echoes of Betrayal’ was awarded Classic Rock Magazine’s ‘track of the day’ and they have been nominated in the ‘Best New Band’ (2012/2013), ‘Best Live Act’ (2013) and ‘Best Female Singer’ (2012/2013/2014) categories at the annual Classic Rock Society Awards.

Winter In Eden’s energetic live performances have been enjoyed by capacity crowds in the UK at events such as The Cambridge Rock Festival and various Femme Metal Festivals alongside Delain and Revamp. Most recently Winter In Eden have taken their live show into mainland Europe, performing to increasing numbers in the Netherlands and Belgium, playing with acts such as Stream of Passion and Maiden uniteD.

London, UK – Prog fans rejoice! A new live CD capturing a set of King Crimson songs performed by District 97 and former King Crimson lead singer John Wetton has been released on Primary Purpose via Cherry Red Records.

‘One More Red Night: Live In Chicago’ includes three songs from the iconic landmark album ‘Red’; which inspired many musicians including Kurt Cobain. This CD also captures several other well-known songs from the three King Crimson studio albums John Wetton played and sang on, plus their earlier hit “21st Century Schizoid Man”. This is the first release of this recording and features many tracks which are now rarely heard live.

Clearwater, FL – Much to the excitement of European music fans, bass legend Jeff Berlin will be touring Europe with his trio beginning mid-October! Jeff Berlin is internationally regarded as a legend, considered one of the greatest bass players in the world. The late Jaco Pastorius regarded Berlin as a better soloist than he was, and Geddy Lee famously referred to Berlin as “the best bass player on the planet!” Known worldwide for his innovative style, Jeff has graced bandstands and recordings with legendary players like Bill Bruford, Dennis Chambers, Neil Peart, Billy Cobham, and Allan Holdsworth, and has led bands and recorded his own CDs for nearly 30 years. He has recorded for vocalists Patti Austin and KD Lang; he has traversed the progressive rock realm with former YES members Anderson, Bruford, Wakeman, Howe; Jeff famously turned down an offer to join rockers VAN HALEN. Jeff is also hailed outside the usual musician ranks: Actor Gary Sinise (also a bassist) is one of his biggest fans, and renowned boxing trainer and ESPN commentator Teddy Atlas refers to Jeff as “the best in the business.” From straight ahead Jazz to Fusion to Prog-Rock, Jeff plays it all, always at the very highest level of proficiency and musicality.

Now fans will have a chance to watch Jeff and his new trio perform throughout Europe! This also includes a rare performance in Russia!

Says Jeff, “This trio with Scott Henderson on guitar, Gary Novak on drums, and me on bass, is all about the groove, the funk, the strongest rhythm section interplay that we can provide. In 2013, Jeff released his critically acclaimed album ‘Low Standards’, which proved once again, that his is the highest standard of virtuosity in the low-end spectrum. Says Jeff, “Because I am such a huge fan of Keith Jarrett’s ‘Standards’ CDs, I wanted to follow my last project, ‘High Standards’, with another standards recording, but this time playing on lesser-known tunes, lesser known to the general public… However, Jazz fans should know every tune that I chose to play. I chose compositions with lots of harmony so that I was forced to seek out non-typical bass lines. The harmony in these tunes demanded that I find something different to play on my bass. I also heard in my head how each composer played their own songs, often while we were recording. That was a strange experience.”
