Grammy Winner Neil Citron Releases Remastered Version of Debut CD “In Search Of Higher Ground”

Los Angeles – Declassified Records and SBI Music Inc. proudly announce the re-mastered release of “In Search Of Higher Ground”, the debut solo CD from Grammy winning guitarist, engineer and producer Neil Citron. Originally recorded in 1994, the digital versions of the record have been re-mastered from the original master tapes to further highlight the sonic beauty of this musical masterpiece. The 13 track album also features Keyboardist Erik Norlander, Drummer Walter Garces, Tony Franklin on Fretless Bass, and one track with symphonic rock singer Lana Lane on vocals.

Neil Citron delivers an instrumental magnum opus of guitar virtuosity and acrobatics mixed with his familiar melodic sensibilities, all of which keeps his music with the listener long after the songs have stopped. His fluid yet commanding guitar style weaves through heavy rock arrangements with memorable phrasing and intrepid tonalities.

Joining Neil on “In Search Of Higher Ground” is veteran keyboardist Erik Norlander (Lana Lane, Rocket Scientists), whose growling Hammond organ and lush synthesizer, paint a vast and spacious sonic landscape behind the bold lead work of Citron’s guitars.

Citron’s aggressive melodic lines coalesce with the undulating heavy rhythms from drummer Walter Garces (The Electric Prunes, BangTower), drawing in the listener with endless energy. Walter also appears with Neil (and Percy Jones) on the recent releases from the fusion trio BangTower and is known as “the L.A. Drum-Guru” having taught students at all levels for decades.

Accomplished rock bassist Tony Franklin (The Firm, Blue Murder, Kenny Wayne Shepherd), rounds out the ensemble. Franklin’s bass expertise is legendary in the rock world, and this album is no exception with fretless harmonies and grooves unique to the “Fretless Monster”.

Guest appearances by Joachim Cooder and Don Allen on percussion bring additional dimension to this timeless album.

Known for his amazing guitar work with such fantastic artists as BangTower, Quiet Riot, Lana Lane and others, Neil has also engineered and produced records for some of the greatest modern musicians including John 5, Slash, Joe Satriani, and John Waite. His work with Larry Carlton and Steve Lukather earned him his first Grammy in 2002 for the record “No Substitutions: Live in Osaka” (Best Contemporary Instrumental Album). Citron’s expertise and talent is also in constant demand in the motion picture and television industry. He has contributed to several major films including “My Big Fat Greek Wedding”, “Mama Mia”, “That Thing You Do” with Oscar winner Tom Hanks and several films from Oscar winning producer Dino De Laurentiis. Neil has also engineered/produced numerous records and DVD’s from guitarist Steve Vai.

Citron plays guitars by Tom Anderson and Ibanez. He also uses Red Plate Amps, Morley Pedals, DiMarzio Pickups and Dean Markley Strings to get his unique, signature tone that is both aggressive and liquid at the same time. His signature tones and amp setups are featured in several high end recording products from Line 6 and Waves.

Declassified Records is releasing a limited number of physical copies of the original CD pressing, along with the Digital versions recently re-mastered by Neil. This amazing instrumental record will be available at most major retailers on April 14, 2015 including iTunes, Amazon, CD-Baby and others. A Hi-Resolution (96/24) version with 3 “bonus” tracks (demo versions of included songs) will be available on BandCamp on May 12, 2015.

“And the Answer Is…” deals with an individual’s attempt at coping and trying to understand mankind’s origins and beyond.

Band leader Matt Brookins comments: “The latest single ‘And the Answer Is…’ deals with the internal thought process people go through as they try to figure out their place in the universe. Attempts at handling the vast scope are a big part of this, because infinity is a concept the human mind has a hard time grasping. Sometimes we think we have things figured out, then we dig deeper and our thought process spirals out of control leaving us as confused as ever. In my specific case, I remember a ‘lazy Sunday’ as a teenager laying on the floor in the sunshine. I fell asleep, but it was that special kind of ‘asleep while awake’ state, where you are conscious and controlling your thoughts…trying to maintain the balance of being aware so you don’t wake yourself up, but also continuing to crunch data in that serene state. I remember thinking ‘that’s it! I’ve figured it out!” only to wake up, and promptly lose everything. I was aware enough while asleep to remember, when I woke, that I was thinking about the meaning of it all and had figured it out – but somewhere between the lucidity of dreaming and waking, I lost the actual answer.”

Available in multichannel for the first time since 1970!

Camarillo, CA – Much to the excitement of Doors fans and music fans worldwide, Marshall Blonstein’s Audio Fidelity will be releasing “The Best Of The Doors -1973” On Quadraphonic 4.0 Multichannel Hybrid SACD! The 2-channel stereo and DSD layers of the hybrid SACD were remastered from the original 2-track tapes which are available for the first time since 1970. The 4.0 Quad layer mirrors the earlier CD-4 QuadraDisc format, Quadraphonic 8-Track and reel-to-reel tape. “The Best of The Doors -1973” compilation album was also released in standard Stereo.

The Doors were among the most controversial, influential and unique rock acts of the 1960’s and beyond. After the death of Jim Morrison in 1971, the remaining members, Ray Manzarek, John Densmore and Robby Krieger continued as a trio until disbanding in 1973.

Each of the tracks on “The Best Of The Doors-1973” have been taken primarily from the original two-track masters of the eight albums recorded by the band between 1967 and 1971. Three of the band’s studio albums, “The Doors” (1967), “L.A. Woman” (1971), and “Strange Days” (1967), were featured in the Rolling Stone list of The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time. The popular rock magazine also listed The Doors as “One of The 100 Greatest Artists of All Time!” As a matter of fact The Doors have been listed as one of the greatest artists of all time by many magazines and in 1993 were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Los Angeles, CA – Guitar virtuoso Scott Henderson has finished his new album “Vibe Station”, the most ambitious project of his career! The highly anticipated instrumental album for guitar trio will be released on May 1, 2015.

Says Scott, “I’m really excited about this record because our trio has been touring a lot and that energy came through on all the performances. The music is still blues-based, but also has a lot of harmonic content. The big change is no vocals, which challenged me as a guitarist to write material which can be played in a vocal way on the guitar, while incorporating my own chord-melody style. I think fans will enjoy the scope of this record because it has elements of blues, rock, jazz and funk. There’s something for everyone here.”

Scott also said that the majority of the songs are layered with multi guitar tracks, utilizing many different guitars, pedals, amps and speaker combinations, making it the most textural and versatile sounding album he’s ever done. Travis Carlton on bass and Alan Hertz on drums make this project and live show very much groove-based.

Says Scott, “I need to see people moving in their seats. I’m not interested on putting on an intellectual show for musicians only. I don’t believe I need to dumb down the music to appeal to people who aren’t musicians, because when Travis and Alan play together, the groove is going to attack you whether you’re a musician or not”.

Scott Henderson’s impressive work over the years as co-leader of the group TRIBAL TECH, leader of his own ground breaking trio, and sideman to some of the best jazz artists of their generation, including the great Joe Zawinul, has elevated him to the front ranks of both Jazz and Blues. Besides being a world class player and premier composer, Scott’s trademark is his beautiful tone and striking ability to blend Blues, Rock, Funk, and Jazz, creating a soulful and unique voice on the guitar.

Unreleased Live Album By Jazz Drum Legend Buddy Rich “Birdland” As Seen In Award Winning Film “Whiplash” To Be Released May 26, 2015!

Studio City, CA – Lightyear Entertainment and Lobitos Creek Ranch, in association with Scabeba Entertainment and the Buddy Rich Estate, have announced the release of a new live album featuring Buddy Rich and his Killer Force Band at the peak of their performing years.

This rare, previously unreleased, and all original production was recorded with Buddy’s permission by bandmate Alan Gauvin, who has also now mixed and edited the project together. The album was mastered by Tom Swift, and will be released May 26 through Caroline Distribution, the independent distribution arm of Universal Music Group, on the Lightyear/Lobitos Creek label.

The Birdland album is seen in the Academy Award winning film Whiplash, in the hands of the young star Miles Teller, who plays an extraordinary drummer who idolizes Buddy Rich.

The digital version of Birdland was rush released worldwide on February 24 to coincide with the Oscars airing and is already the most downloaded Buddy Rich album in recent history after just a few weeks.

A vinyl LP of Birdland is scheduled for a June 23rd release.

Lightyear, Lobitos Creek, and Scabeba have previously teamed to release two successful DVDs, The Lost Tapes and The Channel One Suite, and two previous live CDs featuring Buddy and his band: Time Out and No Funny Hats. In addition, in 2014, Lightyear/Lobitos released The Solos, which was comprised purely of Buddy Rich drum solos, and culled from his performances in 1976 and 1977, at the peak of his power and versatility. The album showcases 9 of his premiere solo performances, recorded while on worldwide tour with his band. All of the DVDs and CDs are available through Caroline/UMG.

“Birdland is probably the best Buddy Rich album we’ve released,” said Arnie Holland, CEO of Lightyear. “And we are grateful to Whiplash for stimulating so much interest in Buddy and big-band jazz drumming in general.”

Cathy Rich, CEO of Scabeba Entertainment and Buddy’s daughter, who authorized the release, was a consultant on the Whiplash film. She is currently on tour with her Buddy Rich Band.

Sons of Moody Blues founding member Mike Pinder carry on the tradition, as their own SoCal followers continue to burgeon

Los Angeles—The Pinder Brothers may not be the first pair of siblings to proffer an intrinsic fusion of vocal harmonies, but add to the mix crafty sing-a-long melodies and enough of a rock edge to engage the masses. That is the musical mantra of these brothers in arms’ third full-length release “Melancholy Sea.”

Of course, the many current fans of Matthew and Michael Lee are already aware of one other essential factor. Let’s call it pedigree. Their dad Mike Pinder was a founding member of the legendary Moody Blues, who not only fulfilled the enduring band’s mellotron duties, but also contributed harmony vocals.

The Pinder Brothers mesh the harmonies of Crosby, Stills and Nash alongside the songwriting style of Simon & Garfunkel, and ultimately add their own modern spin. Listeners will hear all of this and more in “Melancholy Sea,” which the pair wrote, plays and arranged.

The project’s masterfully penned lyrics create a sonic tapestry that dazzles the ear… much like the colors of a seashell inspire the eye. The brothers’ voices harmonize beautifully, accompanied by arrangements that deftly ease from a bed of crunchy electric guitars into warm overdriven tones that layer as naturally as sheets and a blanket.

“There are many themes that are explored in the lyrics of our new project,” Michael says. “With today’s manic lifestyle, we sometimes miss out on absorbing the beauty that is all around us. Our mission is to maintain that sense of wonder. It could be right in front of us in a scene that we pass day after day. That is the overall theme of our new album.”

Among highlights, “Here We Go” illustrates how such a rapid pace can interfere with the simple enjoyment of the moment. The lyric relates: “Life seems impossible sometimes, It’s hard to just go with the flow.” Other tracks delve into bends in life’s journey, exploring other universal themes fortified with endless sonic surprises throughout the eloquently crafted album. And as a wickedly wonderful bonus: founding Moody Blues members Mike Pinder and Ray Thomas make a guest appearance on the album’s finale track “Summer Moon.”

It could be said that The Pinder Brothers have 60’s Brit-rock heritage in their DNA, with a healthy dose of California style thrown in. Hailing from Northern California, Matt and Michael Pinder grew up playing music and performing together whenever possible.

How could they not, with the sounds of the lost chord echoing softly in their ears. Thankfully, Mike Pinder’s innate talent has been passed on to his sons—who are now creating their own legacy.

London, UK – Much to the excitement of music fans in the UK, progressive rock icons Renaissance featuring legendary singer Annie Haslam will be performing in the UK in April 2015! Renaissance is a band with a rich history unique unto themselves as progressive rock pioneers who rose from the ashes of the seminal UK rock band, The Yardbirds. Acclaimed for their unique blending of progressive rock with classical and symphonic influences, the band’s career has spanned forty plus years spearheaded by the 5 octave voice of Annie Haslam and the masterful songwriting skills of Michael Dunford. They are widely considered to be the band that most successfully and routinely utilised the sound of a full orchestra in their recordings.

In the early years Renaissance toured Europe extensively. It wasn’t long before influential progressive rock stations in the US, such as WNEW (NYC), WMMR (Philadelphia) and WHFS (Washington) were turning on America to Renaissance. Before too long the band started thrilling concertgoers on the world’s most distinguished stages, from Carnegie Hall in NYC with the New York Philharmonic Orchestra, to the Royal Albert Hall in London with The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and Royal Chorale Society. In 1978 they had a top ten hit in the UK with ‘Northern Lights’, which has become a classic radio favourite, still demanding regular airplay to this day.

The band eventually disbanded in the late 1980’s at which time Annie Haslam launched a solo career. In celebration of the 40th anniversary of the original founding of Renaissance, Michael and Annie in 2009 decided to form a new touring band. More recently they have toured North America, Canada, Japan and South Korea and produced their first album in 13 years entitled ‘Symphony of Light’. The album is a testament to the unforgettable melodies that Michael Dunford infused into his work, Michael died prematurely in 2012.

The current personel of Renaissance include: Annie Haslam lead vocals, Rave Tesar keyboards, Tom Brislin keyboards, Mark Lambert guitars, Leo Traversa bass guitar, and Frank Pagano drums.
