Audiophile Record Label Audio Fidelity To Produce
a Series of Multichannel Releases with ETrain Records!

Camarillo, CA – Marshall Blonstein’s Audio Fidelity, the audiophile record label known worldwide for their exceptional sound quality, has taken another step forward in that endeavor. Marshall Blonstein, the president of the company and his business partner and chairman, John Paul DeJoria, have reached an agreement to produce a series of multichannel releases with ETrain Records helmed by multi-Grammy winner Elliot Scheiner.

Scheiner is considered to be among the most accomplished sound engineers and producers in his field having worked with a long list of superstar artists including the Eagles, Sting, Steely Dan, R.E.M., Fleetwood Mac, Jackson Browne and many more. The first release, just in time for the holiday season, will be New York Voices’ Let It Snow, a brilliant collection of beloved Christmas classics. This debut release will be available on Hybrid 5.1 Discreet Surround and High Def Stereo Multichannel SACD as will all of the product developed under this new association along with many classic titles that will be released on Quad and 5.1.

Audio Fidelity and ETrain Records will explore the multichannel arena through traditional channels as well as opportunities for multichannel in the auto industry.

Blonstein stated, “We were looking for a strategic partner to move back to the future for multichannel audio and Elliot is by far the perfect match for this challenge.” In the past Elliot paved the way for multichannel sound in cars when he developed the highly acclaimed ELS Sound System for Acura, the luxury vehicle division of Japanese automaker Honda Motor Company.

The three principals released a joint statement announcing “how excited they are about this new relationship and the first release. And, to audiophiles, collectors and music lovers alike, you’ve never heard your favorite music sound this good!” Blonstein added, “Our multichannel SACDs will be Limited Numbered Editions packaged in a deluxe variation of our patented see-through slip cases.”

In addition to his Grammy Awards, Scheiner has received two Emmy Awards for his work with the Eagles on the Eagles Farewell 1 Tour – Live From Melbourne show and the documentary film History of the Eagles. He is also a proud member of the TEC Hall of Fame with three TEC Awards to his name. Scheiner is also a recipient of the very first Surround Pioneer Award. Elliot holds an honorary Doctor of Music degree from the Berklee College of Music and is one of the only Americans to be awarded the Master of Sound honor from the Japan Audio Society.

As a businessman, environmentalist and philanthropist, John Paul has donated his time, money and expertise to help others. Among John Paul’s many accomplishments he is the co-founder of John Paul Mitchell line of hair care products as well as being the co-founder of Patron Tequila, the #1 Premium Tequila in the world. He was also an early investor in the House Of Blues. He has interest in Solar Utility, Sun King Solar, Touchstone Natural Gas and John Paul Pet Co. John Paul was also honored with the Sustainability Award for his dedication to environmental preservation and was inducted as a lifetime member into the Horacio Alger Association of Distinguished Americans.

Before forming Audio Fidelity, Marshall Blonstein was the President and founder of DCC Compact Classics, the pioneering audiophile label that introduced such artists as the Eagles, The Doors, Metallica, Van Halen, Paul McCartney, etc. to the audiophile world. When The Chapel’s doors opened at 7pm, about 30 faithful Belew followers promptly made their way to the stage, and stayed glued there for the rest of the evening. While fans shared stories of past King Crimson and Zappa tours, an MC welcomed the crowd and pointed out that the club would be playing a wide selection of tunes from Belew’s vast career during breaks between the sets. Several hardcore devotees quickly picked out the obscure Porcupine Tree track. Tom Tom Club and David Bowie songs satisfied the rest of the anxious group.

Opener Saul Zonana took the stage, and The Chapel’s main floor reached standing room capacity. Zonana’s solo performance was limited to a tiny 4 feet by 3 feet section at stage right due to Belew’s massive display of pedals, effects, and the rest the Power Trio’s equipment. He managed to pull it off quite well.

During Zonana’s set, he spotted a fan waving a mint copy of King Crimson’s Three of a Perfect Pair, which prompted him to tell the crowd how that progressive rock record, and listening to The Beatles, convinced him to become a musician. Zonana has recorded and toured with 2000 shows under his belt, and was spotted singing harmonies (via a wireless mic) tonight in a tiny room visible from the stage when Belew was performing.

London, UK – Todd Rundgren fans rejoice! Esoteric Recordings are pleased to announce the first ever official release of TODD RUNDGREN AT THE BBC. This four-disc collection comprises three CDs and a DVD (NTSC / Region Free) featuring all of the surviving radio and television broadcasts in the BBC archive transmitted on radio and television in the UK between 1972 and 1982. The set features on CD Todd’s solo 1972 BBC Radio One “In Concert” performance, recorded soon after the release of his seminal album “Something Anything”, the classic 1975 performance by Todd Rundgren and Utopia at Hammersmith Odeon, London, (including a previously unreleased track “Something’s Coming”) – on the first ever UK concert tour of Todd Rundgren and Utopia, a 1977 performance at the Oxford Polytechnic by Todd Rundgren and Utopia (promoting the “Ra” album), and a DVD featuring three different performances for the classic “Old Grey Whistle Test” series; the 1975 Todd Rundgren and Utopia session, a film of Todd Rundgren & Utopia at the Bearsville Picnic in 1977 (performing “Singring and the Glass Guitar”) and the entire recordings made for a 1982 solo Todd Rundgren Whistle Test special (including two songs not featured on the original TV broadcast).

This set is sure to delight the legions of Todd Rundgren fans and is a superb document of Todd’s continuing development as both a solo artist and with his band Utopia between 1972 and 1982.

London, UK – Much to the excitement of prog fans worldwide, rare recordings of guitar legend Peter Banks, best known for his work with YES and FLASH, is now available on GONZO Multimedia! Peter Banks Empire ‘The Mars Tapes’ (2-CD set) represents Empire lll in rehearsal at Mars Studios in Los Angeles in 1979. The band had set up camp at Mars Studios for six months rehearsing and showcasing their music, much of which has been unheard until this release. The band basically recorded every thing they did off the board, tape hiss and all.

Peter Banks (RIP 2013) and Sidonie Jordan, who not only co-wrote, but fronted the band with her powerful vocals, founded Empire in the early to mid-seventies after Peter’s FLASH endeavors and attracted artists such as Phil Collins. Peter and Phil had joined forces in a band called ‘Zok And The Radar Boys’ which was pre-Empire for Peter, and pre-Brand X for Phil. “Sky At Night” (bonus track) features Phil Collins on drums and backing vocals and Jon Giblin on bass and is testimony of their collaboration.

Sidonie Jordan, who has an extensive list of music credentials to her name, including a diversified solo career as a staff writer/recording artist for A&M Records, and has recorded for other labels such as Capital Records, Electra Records and Trojan Records. (Her song and recording of ‘All God’s Mornings’ was produced by Peter Townshend and featured on his ‘With Love’ album. Sidonie is currently producing and writing with Lez Larder owner of Skyline Studios in Sunbury- On-Thames UK, and Empire lll drummer, Mark Murdock, more recently known for his ‘Cymbalic Encounters’ release featuring members from Brand X, agreed to release these recordings as a dedication to the memory of Peter Banks and his great contribution to progressive rock music.

Says Sidonie, “ ‘The Mars Tapes’ were recorded live at Mars Studios in Los Angles during the summer of 1979! And include a few tracks that never appeared on any Empire albums. As with all the Empire incarnations this album features the amazing talent and skill of Peter Banks, who has been called the Architect of Progressive Rock.”

Drummer Mark Murdock explains, “The Peter Banks Empire ship set sail against the ever-changing music world, and was uncompromising in producing a range of material with Peter Banks’ ‘Signature Guitar Sound and Style,’ while incorporating themes of the time period in which the band existed and also reliving the past by playing songs from the early Empire catalog and even a YES version of ‘Something’s Coming.’ There are various tracks on ‘The Mars Tapes’ that also represented a ‘Work In Progress,’ which were both instrumental and vocal orientated. Empire was anticipating to make some big waves in the music scene, but the waves never reached the shore- until now!”

Hollywood, CA – Exhibit Records announces the release of a Special 50th Anniversary Numbered Limited Edition album of Trini Lopez, “At PJ’s.” The 200 gram vinyl record is beautifully presented in a sturdy old style gatefold jacket featuring the original album art work and for the first time includes the lyrics to all the tunes. The back of each album is foil-stamped with its unique number.

With the release of this album in April 1963 Trini Lopez became one of the biggest singing stars of the Folk Revival. Trini Lopez, “At PJ’s” made it to #2 on the Billboard charts and stayed in the Top 40 for over a year. The album included the chart-topping “If I Had a Hammer” which reached number one in 36 countries and was a radio favorite for many years. The hit single sold more than 4 million copies and the album sold over a million and was awarded a gold record.

This was the album that made Lopez an instant success and the live party-a-go-go atmosphere of the record did much to put Trini’s likable energy over the top. What Lopez did, at the head of a trio was to make folk-pop swing. Other songs include “This Land Is Your Land,” and “Gotta Travel On.” It could be surmised that by treating such material in this fashion, Lopez had a tiny influence upon the subsequent folk-rock movement…though, Lopez was more the all-around entertainer with a Latin lilt than he was a pure folk singer, so you also get “America” (from West Side Story), “La Bamba,” Ray Charles’ “What’d I Say,” “Volare,” and “When the Saints Go Marching In.”

The emergent Exhibit Records has rapidly curated an eclectic catalog of classic recordings and gaining notice for exquisite mastering, high quality pressings and detail to the fine art of exceptional package design.

Drawing influences in equal parts from heavy metal legends and prog rock luminaries, HeKz seek to take the original progressive metal blueprint and rewrite it for themselves. As ever, the song is king, a trait which sets them apart from many of their peers.

HeKz’s debut album TABULA RASA laid a firm foundation, and now follow up effort CAERUS sees the band striving to fuse the two contrasting elements of their sound to produce something truly unique. The familiar cornerstones of the band’s style are still present; the commanding vocal delivery of Matt Young and the characteristic twin guitars of Al Beveridge and Tom Smith are this time augmented by the addition of James Messenger’s swirling synths and chunky Hammond, all kept in line by the tasteful and precise drumming of Kirk Brandham.

CAERUS is an album of firsts for the band, most notably it marks their debut as a five-piece, alongside a supporting cast of guest musicians including renowned cellist Audrey Riley. Sweden – Possibly one of the most talented composer and keyboardist to emerge from Sweden, Pär Lindh will be releasing a new classical CD titled ‘Three Christmas Concertos’. For those in the progressive rock community Pär Lindh is considered a keyboard wizard – so much so that he was chosen to play keys for the reunion of the legendary Nice (a prestigious position only held by keyboard visionary Keith Emerson). With the release of several highly acclaimed albums, Pär Lindh has garnered worldwide acclaim. And now, for the first time, he has released a purely classical Christmas album!

Says Pär, “I have every Christmas since my youth been listening to the ‘Arcangelo Corelli’ concerto (as well as Greg Lake’s ‘I Believe In Father Christmas’) so it became a natural idea once I had my own Christmas piece. When I rewrote my concerto 2011 and extended it from the three movements I composed 1979-1981 to four movements. I found then that the third movement had a distinct Christmas carracter. And since my idea is to write four concertos to form a modern version of the four seasons suite by Vivaldi. This Christmas concerto would then have the nickname ‘The Winter’. So in the future there will be the spring, summer and autumn.”

This is the first release by Pär’s new record label based in Sweden called NORDVERK CLASSICAL MASTERWORKS. Next release is due for early 2015. You will find on this album a new work, which has been predicted to become a future classic, as well as two well-known classical Christmas concertos played in such a way as to give listeners who are familiar with this music a possibility to hear it performed in a new light. ‘Three Christmas Concertos’ includes the first ever recording of Pär’s concerto ‘Then Svenska Julkonserten’, which was recorded winter 2013/2014.

The premiere which took place in Sweden on December 4, 2011 was a huge success. Says Pär, “The work recieved thunderous applause after each movement and on one occasion even during a movement. I realised then that this work had the quality to go directly to the hearts of an audience. In November 2013, we recorded the three concertos. Kennet Boman oboe, Anders Lagerqvist kapellmeister and the orchestra has beautifully captured the mood of my work. Manfredini, having written several Christmas concertos, we choose this lovely work to be the sweet balacing piece in C-major between two concertos both in minor keys and of greater length. It has also been a pleasure to record this version of ‘Corellis’ famous concerto.”

Terry Bozzio has worked with world-class artists such as Frank Zappa, Jeff Beck, and Steve Vai, and Rolling Stone listed him as the fifth greatest drummer in rock. On Thursday, he stopped by Yoshi’s at the tail end of this tour which celebrates the 50th anniversary of his first drum lesson.

Bozzio, 63, has been traveling across North America for nearly three months now with his wife, Mayumi; and drum tech, Ben, who has the tedious job of assembling the “sculpture” (as Bozzio likes to call his behemoth melodic drum kit), at every show. The enormous structure virtually encases him with only a tiny three-foot opening to view the audience.

The “sculpture” features 26 toms, two snares, eight bass drums, 53 cymbals, 22 pedals, and a whole lot more. Bozzio plays on two-and-a-half octaves of tuned tom-toms and eight notes of bass drum. There are 22 pedals that have to be fine-tuned every day so they don’t interfere with each other. If you’d like a more accurate accounting of his kit, click this link.

As the show began, Bozzio climbed into his kit while playing several mini shakers that set the tone for the first song, “Africa.” The first set ran an hour and included “Flute Loops,” and a composition called “Debussy,” a piece inspired by one of his classical music heroes, Claude Debussy.

Studio City, CA – Lightyear Entertainment and Specialty Studios, in association with Rockin’ the Wall Studios announce the Consumer release of “Rockin’ the Wall” on November 4th, 2014. And a US Fall 2014 Theatrical Tour in commemoration of the 25th Anniversary of the Fall of the Berlin Wall. The feature length documentary offers an entertaining exploration of the power of rock music as a force for social change & liberation.

The film by Larry Schweikart and Marc Leif is based on Schweikart’s book “Seven Events That Made America America.” It shows how music become a liberating force behind the Iron Curtain and helped give strength to the anti-communist revolution.

The documentary features interviews with several well-known rock musicians, including David Paich (Toto), Robby Krieger (The Doors), Jimmy Haslip (Yellowjackets), and Rudy Sarzo (Quiet Riot), and Mark Stein (Vanilla Fudge), as well as individuals who experienced life behind the Soviet controlled side of the wall.

The official motion picture soundtrack for “Rockin’ the Wall” includes more than a dozen original or newly performed songs, featuring powerful re-makes of 60’s and 70’s classics “Ball of Confusion,” “People Got to be Free,” and “Train Kept a Rollin’” as well as original songs by Mark Stein of Vanilla Fudge, Peter Rivera, and Mother’s Finest, as well as all songs performed in the film.

Schweikart is going ‘on tour’ with the film and will be participating in post screening discussions providing audiences with a rare opportunity to get an even better understanding of this monumental moment in history.
