Glenn Hughes sang lead vocals on 17 tracks for the Phenomena Project and all these tracks have been collected together on one Phenomena compilation named after the Hughes co-penned track “Still The Night”.

Phenomena is an all-star series of albums created by Tom Galley and this compilation also features: Cozy Powell, Mel Galley, Neil Murray, Ric Sanders, Ted McKenna, Michael Sturgis and Richard Bailey.

The tracks are collected together from the million selling debut Phenomena” album, “Dream Runner” and “Psycho Fantasy”.

As Tom Galley recalls of Glenn Hughes’s work with Phenomena “It did him a lot of good. He got a lot of attention for the performance he did for us”.

This compilation also features final mixes of the RARE tracks “Assassins in the Night”, “Running with the Pack” and the 12” remix of “Still the Night”.  The CD housed in an attractive 6 panel digipack with artwork by Iain Lowe.

Los Angeles, CA – Fantasy writer/art rock visionary Michael Moorcock, who has been named by The Times as one of the 50 greatest British writers since 1945 and has collaborated with bands such as Hawkwind and Blue Öyster Cult, has teamed up once again with Don Falcone’s space rock collective Spirits Burning for an epic new album! The Hollow Lands is a continuation of a trilogy of Moorcock’s stories, dubbed The Dancers At The Ends Of Time series, that began with An Alien Heat, released in 2018. For this second installment, Falcone has assembled a stellar cast of progressive rock luminaries including BÖC members Albert Bouchard, Eric Bloom, Donald “Buck Dharma” Roeser and Joe Bouchard, Hawkwind associates Harvey Bainbridge, Steve Bemand, Bridget Wishart, Adrian Shaw and Dead Fred, PLUS Nektar’s Ron Howden, The Strawbs’ Chas Cronk, and many more!

Michael Moorcock writes: “The Hollow Lands is a beautiful piece of work, building on An Alien Heat with musical subtlety and intelligence. I am delighted by the interpretation and can’t wait to hear the resolution to this amazing project! They are a wonderful complement to what is one of my own favourite sequences and I could not hope for a better interpretation.”

Don Falcone writes “This album was another opportunity to work closely with Al (Bouchard) on Mike’s Dancers series. Al started 7 of the songs and played on 15. Together, we invited a special group of musicians, and they brought an amazing amount of enthusiasm and passion to this adventure. Plus, it was great to record Mike again. He provided vocals or harmonica to 16 of the 18 songs.”

Keyboardist and Brian Eno Collaborator Peter Chilvers and Guitarist Jon Durant Create a Series of Stunningly Beautiful Aural Vistas

Peter Chilvers & Jon Durant Release “Always Golden Sands” & “Vista” – An ambient jazz album in two parts

English keyboardist and Brian Eno collaborator Peter Chilvers teamed up with American guitarist Jon Durant to create a series of stunningly beautiful aural vistas, which blend ECM inspired chamber jazz improvisation with ambient music. For both artists, this recording was an opportunity to explore their introspective sides as well as their textural tendencies. Gentle melodies weave their way through atmospheric clouds, at times reminiscent of Budd and Eno, but with a sense of interplay between the guitar and keys those ambient pioneers left out.

The duo settled into a rhythm of working across distant time zones during the pandemic. Tracks often began with a morning keyboard improvisation from Chilvers, which would be embellished and transformed by Durant as daylight hit his side of the Atlantic. Having completed Vista, the momentum built up, and three further tracks emerged. These stood well on their own and will be released first as “Always Golden Sand” – a starter to Vista’s main course.

The EP features the exquisitely melancholic “Always Autumn”, the playful dialog of guitar and percolating synths on “Shifting Sands”, and the pensive “Golden”, a reworking of the more rhythmic “Age of Steam” from Vista. The album also includes the darker shades of “Embers” and the expansive “Sunset” – multiple piano loops slowly build around each other, augmented by Durant’s signature cloud guitars before giving way to a deep dusky atmosphere to close the album. Best enjoyed with a glass of whisky.

Chilvers commented, “As a teenager, I fell in love with the great ECM recordings of the 70s and 80s. Working with Jon has felt like travelling back to that period and finding an undiscovered star. It’s been a joyful and effortless recording, a live album somehow recorded despite lockdowns on opposite sides of the Atlantic. I wish I could beam it back to my teenage self.”

Durant noted, “My favorite aspect of this record is the level of interplay we managed to achieve, especially given the difficult circumstances in which we made this record. Peter’s lovely piano melodies were an inspiration for me to add not just beautiful textures but also play melodically with and around his piano and synths.”

About the artists:

Peter Chilvers is a musician and software designer. Best known for creating the iOs applications Bloom, Trope, Scape and Reflection with Brian Eno, he has also toured with Karl Hyde (Underworld) and recorded numerous albums with vocalists Tim Bowness and Sandra O’Neill, as well as several solo instrumental albums. Many of these were released through Burning Shed, the online label he co-founded in 2001 with Tim Bowness and Pete Morgan.

Since 2006 he has worked as a musical and technical assistant to Brian Eno on projects including the soundtracks to “The Lovely Bones” and “Spore”, album collaborations with David Byrne and the Warp releases “Small Craft on a Milk Sea”, “Drums Between the Bells” and “Lux”. He worked as Assistant Producer on Eno’s 2016 release “The Ship”, for which he also helped develop a multi-speaker installation which has been shown in many countries.

As one of the earliest successes when Apple’s App Store’s debuted in 2008, Bloom continues to be fondly remembered. This led in 2018 to a collaboration with Microsoft to produce Bloom: Open World, an augmented reality installation shown in Denmark, and Bloom: 10 Worlds, a complete reimagining of the app for modern phones and tablets. Eno and Chilvers were also commissioned to create Hypnotised, a customized version of Bloom for use in Coldplay’s live stadium shows.

Innovative guitarist Jon Durant brings a unique sense of texture and melody to his instrument. His distinctive “cloud guitar” soundscapes and engaging lead work have graced numerous CD recordings and film soundtracks and his very distinctive use of fretless guitar has been widely admired.

Durant has previously released 10 solo albums and three Burnt Belief records (with Colin Edwin of Porcupine Tree). Durant has also been featured on the Astarta / Edwin album which was released in 2016. Durant, Colin Edwin and Ukranian singer Inna Kovtun released a CD in 2019 which featured a completely unique and modern take on traditional Ukranian folk music, with a blend of progressive rock, ambient, and pop elements. Durant’s acclaimed 2018 solo release “Parting Is” was his first “solo guitar’ recording and the follow up solo guitar album “Alternate Landscapes” continues to stretch the boundaries of what a guitar record can sound like. Both solo CDs have been nominated for “Best Ambient Album” in US new age radio publications, while “Alternate Landscapes” also spent multiple weeks at the top of the NACC Chill Charts. In 2020, Durant released the well-received duo album Across the Evening with Estonian guitarist Robert Jürjendal as well as his most recent solo album, Soul of a River which featured Jon playing guitars and piano.

Los Angeles, CA – Guitar-shredding virtuoso George Lynch has reteamed with former Dokken bandmate Jeff Pilson for a set of new studio recordings that turn pop music classics into powerful metal anthems! The two have previously made metal magic together as a duo on the 2003 album Wicked Underground, which was recently reissued on vinyl, as well as with other projects such as T&N and The End Machine. But this new batch of recordings, entitled appropriately enough Heavy Hitters, stands apart not only for its outstanding roster of players and vocalists including head Bulletboy Marq Torien, Fishbone’s Angelo Moore, Kansas native Wil Martin (Earshot) and drummer Brian Tichy (Whitesnake/Ozzy) but for the jaw-dropping song selection. If you’ve ever wondered what an amped-up, full-throttle version of Carole King’s “I Feel The Earth Move” or Prince’s “Kiss” or Oasis’ “Champagne Supernova” or Madonna’s “Music,” then this is the album for you!

As a special treat, the band has released the first single from the album – a powerful rendition of Duran Duran’s “Ordinary World” – featuring Martin on vocals, offering just a small taste of what’s in store.

As Lynch himself explains, “I was never a huge Duran Duran fan but I always loved this song. It was just so majestic and emotional. It was an honor and a challenge to cover it in that we had to thread the needle between respecting the original vision of the arrangement but putting our stamp on it as well.”

Pilson, meanwhile, says “The purpose of this whole record, besides having a lot of fun making it, was to take amazing hit songs and interpret them in a way that was true to the greatness of the original but that also brought something new and fresh to the song. ‘Ordinary World’ is such a great melodic and emotional song, a song I think George and I have always loved. We just wanted to add some heaviness, a little George Lynch soulful playing and then let Wil fly with that phenomenal voice.”

The track, “Pillow Fight Skies,” features multi-award-winning actress Jane Horrocks on vocals. Horrocks, best known for her work on the UK comedy phenom Absolutely Fabulous and for earning a Golden Globe nomination for her role in The Rise And Fall Of Little Voice, shows off her powerful voice as well as her comedic chops in the video for the track.

“I’d been speaking to Billy about this half-finished Christmas song that he had for The Sinclairs. He said it was about the most miserable Christmas ever,” says Scabies. “We needed a singer who could move effortlessly between misery, magic & charm. So I phoned Jane and it just fell together after that!”

Scottish Punk Rockers SKIDS Release New Single Celebrating The Holidays In Their Home Country!

Los Angeles, CA – Nestled in the southern region of Scotland, between two majestic rivers to the north and south, and the great North Sea on its eastern border, lies the historic county of Fife. And in Fife you’ll find one of the great musical epicenters of Scotland, the city of Dunfermline, home to not just one but two members of classic rock heroes Nazareth plus flute-playing frontman for Jethro Tull, Mr. Ian Anderson, and one of the great new wave punk rock bands of the late ‘70s, Skids! Founded in 1977 by the vocalist Richard Jobson, guitarist Stuart Adamson (later of Big Country fame), and bassist Williiam Simpson, the band has forged a legacy that extends far beyond the shores of the Scottish peninsula, inspiring acts such as U2 and Green Day.

Although Adamson passed in 2001, the band has continued to thrive with Jobson and Simpson at the helm alongside Bruce and Jamie Watson (both borrowed from Big Country), and this year they’ve written and released a fantastic tribute to their home country, the heartwarming “Christmas In Fife.” Sounding very much like the musical kin of The Pogue’s “Fairytale Of New York,” “Christmas In Fife” offers the jolly-old stomp of a classic pub singalong complete with piano, accordion, whistling, and gang vocals on the choruses. It’s a rousing, merry carol that is sure to become a holiday favorite down at the old watering hole in Dunfermline, or wherever pints are poured on Christmas day!

TODD RUNDGREN ANNOUNCES FIRST-EVER MULTI-CITY VIRTUAL CONCERT TOUR

CLEARLY HUMAN TOUR CONSISTS OF 25 GEO-TARGETED ONLINE SHOWS BEGINNING FEBRUARY 14

Legendary recording artist, producer, songwriter and tech pioneer Todd Rundgren has announced his 2021 Clearly Human virtual tour, featuring 25 performances, each geo-fenced and tailored to a different US city. With each performance emanating from a Chicago venue (the most convenient time zone to allow for 8pm showtimes in every market), the shows will be “localized” to give both the band and the fans a sense of place (e.g. local landmarks will appear on the video wall, catering for the band and crew will feature dishes associated with each city, etc). Single-ticket purchases within the US will be limited to fans with zip codes corresponding to that show’s greater metropolitan area. US-based fans not living in a designated tour market can also “attend” any or all dates via multi-show ticket bundles, which, like internationally-based fans purchasing single-show tickets, will exempt them from geofencing restrictions. In Chicago, there will be a licensed COVID compliance officer on staff at all times, with both the band and crew testing regularly throughout the duration of the virtual tour.

Emulating a traditional routing itinerary, the Clearly Human Tour will kick off February 14 “in” Buffalo, NY, and wrap up March 22 “in” Seattle, WA. Single tickets are priced at $35, with an array of premium add-ons and multi-date bundles available.

Produced by NoCap, the live streaming company recently launched by Cisco Adler, and Panacea Entertainment chairman Eric Gardner, Todd’s longtime manager, each show will feature Rundgren and an expanded 10-piece band performing standouts from his 50-year-plus catalog, as well as his entire 1989 classic album ‘Nearly Human’, which Warner Music Group will also be re-releasing on CD and colored vinyl. Remote meet-and-greets with Todd will be available at every show, as will options to select viewing from multiple camera angles and to be featured on several rows of video screens that will serve as the real-time “virtual audience” for the evening. Subject to Chicago’s COVID policy regarding public gatherings in force at the time, there will be a handful of tickets available to attend in person and sit safely distanced amongst the virtual audience, with each attendee required to show proof of a negative test within 72 hours of the event.

While the concept of Clearly Human lends itself naturally to our current socially-distanced world, Todd actually conceived of the idea years ago as a solution to the growing challenges of touring amidst climate change and a way to reduce his own carbon footprint. Seeing this as “setting the gold standard” for what he predicts will become a new touring paradigm, it’s not the first time Todd has been out front with a tech-savvy new idea. he designed the first-ever graphics tablet for Apple in 1979; other “firsts” include the first-ever live interactive television concert (1978), the first live national cablecast of a rock concert (1982), the first commercial music downloads (1992), the first online direct artist subscription service, “PatroNet” (1998), and the first full-length concert shot with multiple Virtual Reality 360º cameras (2016).

“When I was a student at Berklee College of Music I looked around at 623 other musicians who were on a line to get their degree and decided all these people have the same knowledge I had, they all had the same experience so I decided to do things that they didn’t do, that they didn’t want to do.

“I began studying marketing and business. Musicians wanted to play, wanted to be famous, wanted to have adulation, and had very little interest in ‘business’. I found it fun and interesting and knew that I could propel my own career in ways the others couldn’t or wouldn’t do.”

In the years that followed Jamie became marketing director in Los Angeles for entertainment companies that booked everything from décor to orchestras, named acts, bands, for corporate parties and also weddings and other events. These companies’ profits were in the multi-millions and Jamie learned the art of the sale always realizing that the way to success was to help others with their challenges, and desires.

In 2013 Jamie got a call from a musician’s wife who was distraught. She cried “My husband spent all his money on Facebook ads. There is no return and now I have to take a job to feed our family and pay the mortgage.” She continued “I see how busy your social media pages are and that you are making sales, have loyal customers, and are always making a profit. Can you please help us, Jamie?”

Jamie went to work to create a page for them that was not a billboard (like traditional advertising) to create an environment that was social and to finesse ads that cut their advertising budget by more than 50 percent, with a return of 200 percent.

“The success was clearly a sign that I needed to do this for others,” said Jamie Glaser.

“I went online to find the social media management companies that were at the top of Google Search and hired 3 of these companies to see what they could do for me. They all had big fancy web pages, they all had amazing software to give me a detailed analysis of my performance on social media and they all were HORRIBLE at being social, getting engagement, traffic, likes, and sales.

A Few Words About “John Lennon: A Day In His Life” by Gregory Paul Martin – Son of The Beatles Producer Sir George Martin

People from all walks of life have been affected by the music of The Beatles. They gave the world inspiration and happiness in almost everything they did. On October 9, the 80th anniversary of his birth, a new music video will be released honoring John Lennon – “John Lennon: A Day In His Life”, Grammy- nominated American producer, Michael Franklin, and Beatles animator, Alvaro Ortega teaming up to create it.

The spark of Lennon’s tribute began when Franklin awoke from a dream in which he dreamt of the Lennon song, “Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds” while hearing John’s voice singing “A Day In The Life”. Amazed by the similarity between the two songs’ chord sequences and lyrics, Franklin hurriedly put this combination to the piano, the next night, another similar dream awakening him again – this time the baroque piano solo bridge sped up to sound like a harpsichord dashed off by my father, Sir George Martin, for John’s song, “In My Life” from Rubber Soul while The Beatles were on a lunch break.

“John Lennon: A Day In His Life” is Franklin’s montage of some of the most memorable moments we love from The Beatles songs, John’s vocals superimposed over a cleverly stitched together visual collage, the tribute based on an original score from the “Sergeant Pepper” album.

Franklin said, “I realized the same chord progressions are in ‘Eleanor Rigby’, as well as other Beatles songs. It was quite a surprise, and I couldn’t stop thinking about what The Beatles did. I dove right in, exploring other Beatles song bites. The music production took about three weeks to research, edit, and arrange.”

After completion of the tribute track, it was time to synchronize the video. Franklin had been aware of Ortega’s unique animations of The Beatles for several years, skillfully editing on his laptop previous bit and pieces of Ortega’s work, demonstrating to him what could be done, reaching out to Ortega in Spain, Ortega happily agreeing, the rest now history.
