Japanese Prog Ensemble Yuka & Chronoship Announce the Release of Their New Album SHIP

Yuka & Chronoship was formed in 2009 by Yuka Funakoshi (a rare female prog rock artist in the world) and three experienced session musicians (Shun Taguchi, Takashi Miyazawa, and Ikko Tanaka).

The band’s previous album, received critical acclaim worldwide and was helped establish the band as an intriguing discovery for fans of the progressive rock genre.

The first seven songs of the band’s new album SHIP are a suite based on the Greek mythology “ARGO”. The opening song “Tears of the Figurehead” is sung by special guest singer Sonja Kristina of Curved Air.

Band member Shun Taguchi said: The last song “Did You Find A Star?” was originally planned to sung by John Wetton, but he passed away from cancer and at first we planned not to include it on the album.  However, although unfortunately our dream didn’t come true, we decided to still record the song for the album as a tribute to him.

New PledgeMusic Campaign Started For Spirits Burning & Michael Moorcock’s “An Alien Heat” Album

The new Spirits Burning & Michael Moorcock album is an adaptation of the Michael Moorcock novel “An Alien Heat.” It is the first Spirits Burning album to feature Michael Moorcock, and the first with Albert Bouchard as one of the main collaborators.

Michael Moorcock is an English writer, primarily of science fiction, fantasy, and literary novels. He is best known for his novels about Elric, and two stints as the editor of New Worlds Magazine. As a musician, he fronts Michael Moorcock & The Deep Fix, and has collaborated with Hawkwind, Blue Öyster Cult, Robert Calvert and Spirits Burning.

Don Falcone is an American producer, musician (keyboards, bass, and vocals), and captain of Spirits Burning. A live version of the band played in the UK in 2017, with Falcone on keys and vocals, and featuring Hawkwind family members Bridget Wishart, Richard Chadwick, and Steve Bemand.

Albert Bouchard is an American drummer, guitarist, singer, and songwriter. He was a founding member and drummer of Blue Öyster Cult. He also plays with his brother Joe in the Bouchard Brothers, and they are both in Blue Coupe with Dennis Dunaway from Alice Cooper.

Says Don Falcone, “The debut Spirits Burning & Michael Moorcock album came together, in so many special ways… I asked Mike if I could do an adaptation of the ‘Dancers’ trilogy, starting with ‘An Alien Heat,’ and he gave a long-distance blessing… Al Bouchard became a co-collaborator and helped improve every song. He also brought in some Blue Öyster Cult family members. The planned sessions with Mike came to fruition, and Mike ended up singing on most tracks, and playing harmonica on three.”

Fans of Blue Öyster Cult will be interested in performances by BÖC family members Albert Bouchard, Joe Bouchard, Richie Castellano, and Donald Roeser.

Albert Bouchard co-wrote and performs on 15 of 16 songs.

Fans of Michael Moorcock’s novels will be interested in this adaptation of “An Alien Heat,” which is part of the “The Dancers At The End Of Time” trilogy.

Fans of Hawkwind will be interested in performances by Hawkwind family members Harvey Bainbridge, Michael Moorcock, Adrian Shaw, Mick Slattery and Bridget Wishart

“An Alien Heat” is the 14th  studio album by Spirits Burning and also features performances by Andy Dalby (Arthur Brown’s Kingdom Come), Monty Oxymoron (The Damned), Ken Pustelnik (The Groundhogs), Jonathan Segel (Camper Van Beethoven), Andy Shernoff (The Dictators), and Cyrille Verdeaux (Clearlight).

Charlotte, NC – Since 2010, The Man From RavCon (aka, Mike Brown), has been creating adventurous, atmospheric instrumental music featuring Mellotron enriched arrangements accentuated by piano and organ, interweaving synths, bass, dynamic percussion, and melodic guitar. Blending influences of 70’s classic FM album rock (Stones, Kraftwerk, Steely Dan, Supertramp) with a melodic prog flavor, The Man From RavCon’s ninth release, “Another World,” may be considered a somewhat more accessible work than his most recent offerings, but is no less adventurous in scope. With contributions from special guests, guitarist Larry Smith, and flutist Jeff Eacho, “Another World” features a more lighthearted, breezy vibe making it the perfect soundtrack for Summer 2018 and beyond.

Having founded, performed and recorded for over a decade with now defunct Charlotte, NC power-pop outfit, The Ravelers, multi-instrumentalist Brown, has taken full advantage of the freedom of his solo project by pushing his music beyond the expected. While early Man From RavCon releases explored the sounds of spaghetti western, surf/instro rock, blaxploitation and B-Horror Cinema, more recent outings were enhanced by a classic progressive rock influence. As a result, UK publication PROG Magazine proclaimed “Skyscraper” (2013) to be “a straight-up classy affair” and Progression Magazine praised “Strange Universe” (2016) as “an alluring musical time capsule fueled by analog synth timbres, psychedelic prog motifs and spacey rockin’/ambient hues that entrance, charm and certainly keep you guessing what might come next.”

And now much to the excitement of fans worldwide, The Man From RavCon’s eagerly anticipated new album “Another World” will be released on June 22! Brown is clearly enthused about this effort, “This one was a bit of a surprise. It came together so naturally! Of course, it doesn’t hurt to have talented friends like Larry and Jeff, who really helped take the tracks they played on to another level.”

Meade’s background in musical theatre helps define her unique approach as a lyricist and musician. Remedium combines Meade’s love of art rock with the emotion of musical theatre. In addition to being a vocalist for the progressive rock band IZZ, her career includes performances around the world with many different artists and on a multitude of stages.

Remedium features progressive, adventurous extended tracks such as “Sunflowers at Chernobyl” and “Dragons” as well as songs with art-pop sensibilities such as “Conquer the World”. Meade’s incredible range and versatility as a vocalist is evidenced throughout the album and particularly on songs such as “Every Step” and “What I See From Here”.

Says Jeff, “’Joe Frazier’ is a song that has remained with me throughout my career. No matter where I am in the world, people ask to hear this song. 2017 marks the 30th anniversary of the rendition that I recorded on my second solo record, ‘Pump It!’ While chatting about the tune with producer John McCracken, we thought to come up with a new version, calling it ‘Joe Frazier – Round 3.’ For me, this new song is almost entirely different from the previous two renditions and, quite honestly, I think that this is one of the best tunes I ever wrote.”

Multi-Instrumentalist Fernando Perdomo Goes “Out To Sea” With Debut Instrumental Progressive Rock Album!

“Out to Sea” is the debut Instrumental Progressive Rock Album by Fernando Perdomo, guitarist and bassist of the Dave Kerzner Band. The album draws inspiration from classic 70s Art Rock albums by the likes of Steve Hackett, Peter Banks, Steve Howe, and Jan Akkerman. Acclaimed artist Paul Whitehead painted the cover image. Other covers by Whitehead include “Trespass,” “Nursery Cryme,” and “Foxtrot” by Genesis. While all instruments on the record were played Fernando, save one drum track, he has put together a stellar group to perform the music of “Out To Sea” live.

“Out To Sea” was a pre-release on Cruise To The Edge 2018, a progressive rock concert cruise headlined by the band Yes, where Fernando played with the Dave Kerzner Band alongside Kerzner, Derek Cintron, Roger Houdaille, vocalists Durga and Lorelei McBroom (Pink Floyd), and special guests Randy McStine (The Fringe), John Wesley (Porcupine Tree), Steve Rothery (Marillion), Steve Hackett (Genesis), Harry Waters (Roger Waters), Gabriel Agudo (Bad Dreams) as well as Geoff Downes, Jon Davison, and Billy Sherwood of Yes. Fernando also played guitar in a special tribute to John Wetton with Kerzner and Thijs Van Leer of Focus. On previous performances on Cruise To The Edge, Fernando accompanied Sonja Kristina (Curved Air) and an all-star line up of progressive rock musicians in Dave Kerzner Band’s tribute to the late Greg Lake of Emerson, Lake and Palmer.

Fernando Perdomo is a known powerhouse of the LA music scene. The LA Weekly dubbed him “The millennial answer to Todd Rundgren.” He has made a name for himself as an in-demand Producer, Singer/Songwriter, and Multi-Instrumentalist. Fernando was a featured guitarist at the “Echo In The Canyon” concert in Los Angeles playing with Fiona Apple, Jakob Dylan, Regina Spektor, Beck, CatPower, and Jade Castrinos. Fernando will appear in the “Echo In The Canyon” documentary film and album scheduled for release in the spring of 2018.

Fernando recorded most of the bass and guitars on the acclaimed albums “New World” and “Static” by Dave Kerzner, along with Steve Hackett (Genesis), Keith Emerson (ELP), Simon Phillips (The Who), Colin Edwin (Porcupine Tree), Durga McBroom (Pink Floyd), Francis Dunnery (It Bites), Nick D’Virgilio (Spock’s Beard), Billy Sherwood (Yes) and more.

Curved Air Founding Member & Legendary Violinist Darryl Way to Release First Ever Rock Version of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons – Out Now!

Almost 50 years after the creation of his classic rock anthem Vivaldi, Curved Air’s trail blazing violinist Darryl Way, has arranged and recorded the whole of Vivaldi’s masterpiece The Four Seasons and given it the same ‘rock’ treatment.

Way said of the project: “You cannot improve upon perfection, which the Four Seasons undoubtedly is, but I felt that the Four Seasons, a piece that has been a seminal influence in my life, would be fertile ground for a reinterpretation. Having said that, I have not changed any of the notes, except in some of the slow movements, where it is generally accepted that the written notes can be embellished. I have just added to the mix, rock instrumentation and rhythms, synth textures and in the slow movements, some chill out beats.”

The album is entitled Vivaldi’s Four Seasons in Rock and is released on the 4th of May 2018 via Cherry Red Records.

“I already had a good idea that a rock arrangement could work with Vivaldi’s music, from my work on the Curved Air track ‘Vivaldi’. The challenge was, to maintain Vivaldi’s original concept of the piece and tell the same story. Whether I have risen to that challenge is not for me to say, but if you were a fan of my Curved Air track ‘Vivaldi’, there’s a good chance you’re going to like this as well.”

Los Angeles – Aviator and Hollywood guitar player Ramin Partovi is about to release his breakout album “27 Faces Of A Broken Heart” with a completely new concept. The album features an all-star line-up with Scott Henderson, Simon Phillips, Carl Verheyen, Jimmy Johnson, Mike Stern and several others. The double CD is a unique idea where several well known musicians demonstate peak performances on the same song structure and all align to portrait a united message.

Ramin Partovi early on in his life gravitated towards his love for music, learning guitar and other instruments and founding/playing in several original bands. To meet means end be pursued a pilot career, collected over 10000 hours in the air on large jet aircraft, became a commercial Boeing 737 Captain and recently developed an interest and passion for aerobatic flying. His heart and real passion however was and will always be in music. He studied guitar and music business at Musicians Institute Hollywood and currently resides in Los Angeles.

“Ramin’s record is a concept album with an entirely new idea: twenty six guitarists playing on the same song progression. Each one provides a different approach and musical direction with a huge range of styles. Some heavy hitters for sure!” – Carl Verheyen

The music reflects several emotions, such as heartbreak and pain. Says Ramin, “The idea connecting to my musician friends and musical heroes was to having them connect to a time of broken heartedness (something most of us have been through) and now tell THEIR story in their unique musical way and showing the listeners ‘another face’ of a broken heart bringing the message home that one is not alone in these kind of times and that many people have been through this and eventually overcame it as time passed. We are all unique yet all connected at the same time in our journey. That’s why I wanted to show different faces and yet connect them and wrap them together in a unique way.

“In the song ’27’ I connect with and reflect on a time 2007 where I’ve been very heart broken. After 9 months of a very turbulent relationship it felt as if she ripped my beating heart out alive, stepped on it with long high heels and started twitching. I moved 1550 miles away and it took me 1 and a half years to digest this emotionally. The song reflects on the moods, my pain and struggle at this time, the emotional wounds and the overcoming of this demon over the following years. Have you ever been in front of an art painting and thought ‘yeh, its kind of nice but it doesn’t really speak to me’ and then someone explained you a few things about the artist, what he had in mind when he created the work and what he was trying to say with it, and suddenly the painting lit up and shone in a complete new light for you and you saw it with completely different eyes and loved it? I attempted to paint a picture like that with this song using music instead of a brush.”

Ramin recently received an endorsement by Little Walter Amps. Says Ramin, “I’m very humbled to have selected my dream amp and then having the CEO standing behind you like that.” Ramin is planning to work on new material by the end of the year. As usual it’s probably going to be something completely different. In the meanwhile Ramin will be flying commercial Airline Jets this summer and  looking for musical inspiration while visiting several countries.

In closing Ramin has this to impart, “I called my friends and heroes, asked them to reconnect to a time when they found themselves in a similar situation and to tell their story with their instrument for you, on the same canvas. My message for you is that no matter how hard it hits you in life, give it enough time and with a little help from your friends and inspiration from your heroes you will be fine. MC5 was an American rock band from Lincoln Park, Michigan, formed in 1964. The original band line-up consisted of vocalist Rob Tyner, guitarists Wayne Kramer and Fred “Sonic” Smith, bassist Michael Davis, and drummer Dennis Thompson. The MC5’s leftist political ties and anti-establishment lyrics and music positioned them as emerging innovators of the punk movement in the United States. Their loud, energetic style of back-to-basics rock and roll included elements of garage rock, hard rock, blues rock, and psychedelic rock.

MC5 had a promising beginning which earned them a January 1969 cover appearance in Rolling Stone and a story written by Eric Ehrmann before their debut album was released. They developed a reputation for energetic live performances, one of which was recorded as their 1969 debut album Kick Out the Jams. In 1972, just three years after their debut record, the band came to an end. MC5 was often cited as one of the most important American hard rock groups of their era. Their three albums are regarded by many as classics, and their song “Kick Out the Jams” is widely covered.
