Houston, TX – Hot on the heels of his critically acclaimed third album “2014, Music from an Expanded Universe”, keyboardist/composer Leon Alvarado will be releasing his new album “The Future Left Behind” on July 30, 2016! The highly anticipated new concept album features guest appearances by YES Legends Rick Wakeman & Billy Sherwood, as well as Johnny Bruhn (CIRCA:) and Steve Thamer.

According to Leon, “The idea of creating a concept album out of instrumental progressive rock music had appealed to me ever since I first heard Rick Wakeman’s ‘Journey To The Centre of The Earth’. What I found difficult was to create all the individual pieces that would unify the set of ideas into a single concept. It meant for me to come up with a story, some music and a set of visuals that together would form an inclusive experience. I started by working on music that had more of a cinematic feel than my usual, meaning that when played, it evokes certain imagery in the listener’s mind.”

Says Leon, “My goal was to create something that would combine the artwork and the music into one cohesive vision. I thought that basing my project on a sci-fi story would be very fitting and would give me the necessary creative space to make music that entices the imagination, like what Vangelis’, Rick Wakeman’s and YES’ music do for me.”

Billy Sherwood had this to say about his participation on the album, “It was my pleasure to be a part of Leon’s new record… I had a blast working on it and I’m sure fans of great music are going to enjoy this new record!”

Leon’s first album, “Plays Genesis and Other Original Stuff,” drew on his strongest musical influences, primarily, the many styles in Genesis’s lengthy career. By the time Leon released his second album, “Strangers in Strange Places,” he had refined his method and his vision, and it’s the audience who wins. “Strangers” features Brand X’s John Goodsall on guitar and the legendary drummer Bill Bruford (YES, King Crimson, Earthwork) and reveals an intertwining of progressive rock and ambient textural sound that blossoms in, “2014, Music from an Expanded Universe”. For this third release, he enlisted the talents of Trey Gunn (King Crimson) and Jerry Marotta (Peter Gabriel, Hall and Oats).

And now, much to the excitement of Prog fans worldwide, Leon is set to release his latest masterpiece, “The Future Left Behind.” In regards to the guest performers, Leon explains, “To help the story along and properly set the pieces of music we recorded some narrated bits. I wanted a voice with a large presence. A deep resonating voice that more or less commands to be heard. Steve Thamer is a Canadian voice-over talent who majored in Classical Theatre and has work doing voice-overs for audio books, films and animated shorts.

“As for Billy Sherwood, I envisioned his involvement in the project from the outset. He played a big part in the recording and helped me in elevating the music as a whole. Billy is very down to earth and has to be one of the hardest working musicians I have ever met. He is also extremely proficient and doesn’t waste any time when it comes to getting things down musically.

“During one of my visits to California I went to see Billy’s other band CIRCA:. The guitar player was Johnny Bruhn. I’ve seen many people perform YES music before but Johnny’s guitar playing captured the feel of it so well that it left an impression on me. When this album was conceived, I knew I would have a place for him.

“I have the greatest respect for all the people involved in the project. I must admit that when it came to working with Rick Wakeman, I was a bit nervous at first. But in the end, it was one of those ‘pinch me’ moments that worked brilliantly. It’s not everyday that you have one of your musical heroes performing on a piece you composed.

“The last person to touch the material was Andy Jackson. This is my third project working with him and I couldn’t be happier about it. Andy is better known as Pink Floyd’s engineer of 30 years and his work has been nominated twice for Grammys. He won two British Hi-Fi Awards for his work with Pink Floyd and was a co-producer for ‘The Endless River’ album. What I really like about Andy’s work is his personal taste for sound. To me he is truly a magician at the controls.”

For the fans, although also available as a digital download, the CD version of the album has the most to offer. Leon envisioned the album to be something more than just a set of musical pieces. Instead, he immerses the listener in the world he has conceived through music, story and imagery, and allows their own imagination to fill in the details, creating a very personalized experience for each. “It is the most ambitious album I have created so far. ‘The Future Left Behind’ speaks to those who like Science-fiction stories and futuristic artwork. Like many of my projects, my approach is always to create something that I would want to see.”

Genre Busting Blind Guitar Legend and Producer Joey Stuckey To Release New Audio Described Video

Macon, GA – On June 11th, blind guitar legend, recording artist and producer Joey Stuckey was named Jazz Artist of the Year at the 5th annual Georgia Music Awards. Never knowing how to slow down, Joey is busy working on a variety of projects including writing music with his good friends from the UK Charlie Hoskyns (The Popes), Will Morrison (Modern English) and Paul McGuiness (The Pogues).

However, currently Stuckey is most eager to share his latest music video which has been audio described for the blind.

“To the best of my knowledge, this is the first time a music video has been audio described or narrated for the blind. There have been a hand full of movies, like ‘The Passion of the Christ’ but, I’ve never heard of a music video getting the same treatment,” says Stuckey.

Audio description takes a narrator telling the story of what is happening on the screen. It is kind of like an audiobook, but in this case, it is directly relating the story being told by pictures or video in spoken word form so that the blind can also enjoy the antics and adventure of Joey and his band as he desperately tries to get to his concert. Complete with a thrilling car chase, this video is a lot of fun to watch and the blues guitar and vocal prowess of Stuckey can’t be denied.

Special thanks to Delaney Holliman and Doug Diamond for the video production and friends Nash and Jenny Mayfield for writing and narrating the video.

The video and single “Blind Man Drivin’” were released last year while Joey was on tour in the UK, where the song was the official theme song for the first ever Visually Impaired Musicians’ Lives Conference, which took place at the University College of London.

The Project

In September, 2015, Yuka & Chronoship made their UK debut with their 3rd album, “The 3rd Planetary Chronicles”. Since then, there have been so many requests for the album’s music video from the fans and the media overseas, that the band now decided to make the music video to extend their popularity.

The Details on the Project

Yuka & Chronoship is a Japanese progressive rock band whose 3rd album, “The 3rd Planetary Chronicles”, released on Cherry Red Records in the UK in September 2015, garnered rave reviews worldwide. Yuka & Chronoship is the first Japanese artist to release its album on a large independent label in the UK, the birthplace of progressive rock, ahead of a domestic release in Japan. Since its release, the album has received enthusiastic responses, especially in UK and other European countries, where the album has been rated with four and five stars from the media. In no more than two weeks after the release, the CD’s first pressing had sold out and was picked up by more than 70 radio stations and internet media outlets.

Says the band, “As there have been mounting requests for the album’s music video especially from the overseas media, the band now decided to make its music video to expand its popularity overseas. With your support, we want to create an attractive music video that enchants the whole world, and mark the beginning of a new chronicle that puts Yuka & Chronoship on the center stage of the world’s progressive rock scene!”

About the Music Video

The music video that we want to make through this funding opportunity is intended to go beyond the category of “music video” primarily comprised of scenes of performance. It should be a visual work of art that delivers the worldview of the music. The video’s production director is Masako Gomado, a reputed VFX artist that had worked in a variety of visual media including Japan’s national TV network’s long running, one year long drama series and the movie, “20th Century Boy”. The art work is provided by Oda Hideji, the manga artist and illustrator that created the excellent artwork for the band’s 3rd album. The music video should be a highly creative attempt to present the worldview of “Galileo II – Copernican Theory” through the collaboration of music, artwork, and VFX!

About the Band

Yuka & Chronoship was formed in 2009, and is led by Yuka Funakoshi, a rare female artist in the genre, and consists of three other leading studio musicians in Japan: Shun Taguchi, Takashi Miyazawa, and Ikko Tanaka.

Yuka Funakoshi (Keyboard/Vocal/Composition) – As a singer-songwriter, Yuka had released three J-pop albums from Pioneer LDC and Sony; Shun Taguchi (Bass/Keyboard/Producer) – He has been working as a producer of Yuka Funakoshi since her debut, and had also worked as a producer of Princess Princess, a five-piece Japanese pop/rock girl band. He is also a reputed lyricist in Japan; Ikko Tanaka (Drum) – Ikko had worked as a tour and session drummer of B’z, a Japanese rock duo; Takashi Miyazawa (Guitar/Mix) – Takashi had worked as a studio musician for some projects led by Masataka Matsutoya, a Japanese arranger, composer, music producer. NYC – Legendary Jazz-Rock-Fusion band BRAND X has reunited and is preparing to celebrate their reunion with a Fall 2016/Spring 2017 U.S. tour, including a headline performance at Progtoberfest in Chicago on October 21st. Also on this initial run will be shows in Milwaukee, Detroit, Cleveland and Boston to name a few.

BRAND X are recognized as true musical pioneers, as they helped create an entire musical genre and influenced a broad spectrum of musicians and bands, from Phish to Dream Theatre. They are unrivaled in their creativity, originality and approach. Their contemporaries include bands such as Weather Report, Headhunters, Mahavishnu Orchestra, Jaco Pastorious and Chick Corea, all crafting a unique blend of Jazz, Rock, and Ethic influences now widely known by fans worldwide as Fusion.

Many claim it’s BRAND X’s unique combination of masterful chops mixed with their childlike melodies that make so special. Some musicians play from inside their own world, but John Goodsall, Percy Jones, Kenwood Dennard and the guys from BRAND X play from their own universe!

REUNION: After years of rumors of a potential reunion, it is finally happening. Three of the four main members came together recently in New York, and according to sources present at the rehearsals, listening to them play was “…like traveling back in time to the legendary ‘Livestock’ album – there was no question this was BRAND X! Their sound was uncannily identical to the BRAND X of ‘Livestock’ – and that in itself speaks volumes”

* John Goodsall (Guitars): Original BRAND X guitarist says, “It’s a better version now. We’re all a lot more experienced – a lot more skilled… And that goes for every one of us.”

* Percy Jones (Bass): Original BRAND X bassist says, “This music takes us back to a certain space – which was really cool. I wasn’t sure I’d ever feel that feeling again – and yet here it is!”

* Kenwood Dennard (Drums): Original BRAND X drummer who’s also played with Sting and Jaco Pastorious says, “When we used to play this music, it felt eternal. We used to get into a zone where it felt so deep. Now that’s exactly how it felt again.”

* Chris Clark (Keyboards): Formerly of John Entwistle Band (The Who), and Richie Cannata’s Band (Billy Joel).

* Scott Weinberger (Percussionist): Sessions with Adrian Belew, and live with The Security Project (Jerry Marotta, formerly of Peter Gabriel and Trey Gunn formerly of King Crimson)

The reunited BRAND X will be performing material from their first three albums on these initial tours in October and November 2016.

“Unorthodox Behaviour” was a superb debut album. Members Percy Jones, Phil Collins, Morris Pert, John Goodsall and Robin Lumley had been doing sessions for Brian Eno, and banded together for this initial release.

“Moroccan Roll”: Surprises everyone by hitting #37 in the UK charts. Experimenting with some Eastern tonalities, including a shimmering Sitar played by Goodsall on “Sun In The Night”, BRAND X create an uncanny masterpiece – a fusion album with melodies. Percussionist Morris Pert now joins the band, and manages to bang on everything including a few kitchen sinks. Robin Lumley’s “Disco Suicide” is as catchy as it is clever. Percy Jones galloping “Malaga Virgen” races with furious Bass and Drums – and remains a show-stopper live.

“Livestock”: A true live album in every sense of the word. Recorded at gigs at Hammersmith Odeon and Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club, it shows that band at their most mature with finesse and macho chops rarely heard live. Robin Lumley has stated that the entire Livestock album was mixed in one day with absolutely no overdubs.

Terry has had tremendous success with his last coast-to-coast North American tour, as well as his last two Terry Bozzio solo drum performance tours in Europe (2012 included his headline show at the Jazz Festival Frankfurt – the oldest jazz festival in the world – and 2013 which included sold out performances in Sweden, Germany, Eastern Europe, and France). Please note that this is not a bombastic 2 hour drum solo. This is MUSIC on drums, “an evening with Terry Bozzio.” In most of Bozzio’s works, he accompanies himself with bass lines while soloing over it melodically on the tuned toms. There is space, classical forms & structures, ambient electronic loops, and atmospheric percussion effects, as well as some exciting & fiery drumming that brings audiences to their feet!

“Terry Bozzio Composer Series” was released in Japan in the fall 2015! 59 Compositions, with 59 Paintings for each title on a 4 CD, 1 live performance/interview/drum setup DVD & Art Booklet in a Vinyl Sized Package! (On the Ward Records Label). For those of you who may have seen Terry on tour, the house music he played was only some of this material! Terry has been composing in & beyond all genres for several decades: Classical, Fusion, Electronic, Ambient, Rock & Jazz!

Terry just finished a sold out Tokyo show called “The History of Terry Bozzio”, w/ a Japanese All-Star Band, filmed for TV Broadcast and an upcoming DVD (Oct. release – Ward Records). He performed and sung tunes from his past recordings w/ Zappa, Beck, UK, Missing Persons, Bozzio Levin Stevens, Brecker Bros. & Billy Sheehan! Terry plans to mount this show in Europe & the US in future.

The Romantics:
While it’s true that the Romantics took much of their simple thunder from the British Invasion, their primary influence was the Frenzied excitement of the late 60’s Detroit rock scene. They cut their teeth on that High Energy sound characterized by the MC5, the Psychedelic Stooges, Bob Seger and the Last Heard, Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels, Scott Morgan’s Rationals, SRC, and Garage icons the Underdogs, infusing it with sincerity, irony, spontaneity, and of course, Volume. The Romantics took the essence of this scene and translated it to suit their own modern experience. They favored short brash songs, “punk short” hair and popularized red leather suits.

After releasing their own independent single in 1977, consisting of the first two songs they had written – “Little White Lies” and “I Can’t Tell You Anything” – The Romantics traveled east to establish an audience. Soon after Bomp Records’ Greg Shaw sees them in Toronto and funds a single, which included “Tell It To Carrie,” “First In Line,” something of a stylistic matrix for The Romantics’ music to come. The Romantics considered themselves well removed from the Sex Pistols’ negativity. They didn’t want Rock & Roll to go away rather they want, as Skill tells a reporter in 1979: “to still have fun with three chords.” The late 70’s U.K. punk movement was then diluted and still misunderstood in America.

Through constant touring over three years and meetings with CBS Brass, Natt Weiss, & Nemperor A&R reps, they signed with Nemperor Records in 1979.

The 80’s:
The original Romantics, Palmar, Skill, Cole and Marinos released their debut LP. Anchored by “What I Like About You,” “When I Look In Your Eyes” and a cover of The Kinks, Ray Davies’ “She’s Got Everything.” The album is an exemplary pop-rock period piece. The Romantics evoke a youthful portrait, haunting in its innocence, a direct contrast to the tough world they know in Detroit. Now nearly 30 plus years later they are still known for having created some of the most influential and beloved rock and roll of all time.

The 2nd record, “National Breakout” in late 1980, featuring standouts “Night Like This” and “Forever Yours” produced tours of Europe and Australia. The 3rd record “Strictly Personal” was released in1981. In 1983-84 they raised the bar with “In Heat” the platinum album bearing 2 top 10 singles, “Talking In Your Sleep” and “One In A Million” followed with a tour of Japan.

In late 1990, the Romantics added current Blondie drummer Clem Burke to the lineup, and in 1994 they released a 5 song EP titled “Made In Detroit” for Westbound Records, containing fellow Detroiter George Clintons’ Funkadelic songs, “You & Your Folks.” And “I Wanna Know,” along with three originals. Later that year, The Romantics received an award for Outstanding Pop/Rock Recording Artists from the Motor City Music Awards in 1992.

1995 saw The Romantics settle their 7 year old lawsuit against their former management. The Romantics were presented with the Distinguished Achievement Award at the Detroit Music Awards in 1999. “61/49” was released in the fall of 2003 and named for the storied crossroads near Clarksdale, Mississippi where bluesman Robert Johnson made his pact with the devil. “61/49” is intended as a tip of the hat to the roots of rock ‘n’ roll and forms the nucleus of The Romantics’ fervent pop.

21st Century Romantics:
Due to touring commitments with Blondie, Clem Burke recommended the addition of Brad Elvis. Regaled by both critics and fellow drummers for his precision beat-keeping and showmanship, Elvis is best known as a member of the Elvis Brothers, Screams and The Handcuffs. In addition to being a staple on classic and contemporary rock radio, television commercials and movies; Sirius/XM Satellite radio has also embraced The Romantics. Their songs can be heard on a number of stations including Little Steven’s Underground Garage.

2011 brought the re-emergence of original bass player, vocalist, Rich Cole and Mike Skill back on guitar. The band is now able to expand their set list and include more songs from their first two albums, and include new and unreleased material. This now allows them to focus on more harmonies and get back to their original rock sound that established The Romantics from the very beginning.

Once again much to the excitement of their fans worldwide, The Romantics Palmar, Skill, Elvis, and Cole are touring the US and Europe in support of their recently released singles from their highly anticipated new album release “Up From The Rubble” for summer 2016!

Bass Legend Stu Hamm’s Rock Experience To Tour North America – Summer 2016!

All-Star Trio Also Features Randy McStine on Guitar and Jeff Bowders on Drums

Los Angeles – STU HAMM has been THE go-to bass player for the world’s great musicians. Time spent playing with Steve Vai and Joe Satriani has cemented his place among the greats and gave HAMM the platform to display his pioneering bass techniques to adoring crowds worldwide. Now, HAMM brings the “Greatest Rock Hits” of his long career to the road. Forming HAMM’s All-Star Rock trio are Jeff Bowders (Paul Gilbert, George Lynch, Ritchie Kotzen) on drums and on guitar, Randy McStine, (The Fringe, Lo-Fi Resistance). The STU HAMM Rock Experience begins in Phoenix, AZ on June 22 and plays 26 total shows in one month, ending in Sebastopol, CA on July 22 (Full tour itinerary below).

In regards to taking his talents on the road with this new trio this summer, why now? STU responds, “Well, I finally decided to give the folks what they want, and it felt like a good time to revisit some of my favorite musical moments of my career…and to RAAAAWKK. Fans are always yelling ‘Play a Polka’ and asking for Linus and Lucy, so here it comes y’all!”

As for the set list on this outing, “Fans of my work with Satch can expect highlights from ‘Live in San Francisco’ as well as those songs of his that really featured yours truly.” In addition, “Vai fans can count on hearing songs from my work on his FLEXABLE, PASSION & WARFARE albums.”

HAMM has traveled the world from Boston to Belfast to Budapest, Bali and Berlin. He’s performed in a 19th century circus tent with Joan Baez, and recorded a duet of “Do Right Woman” with her. HAMM has performed with Mick Jagger, played sold out shows at Royal Albert Hall and in front of 120,000 people in Mexico City with a Mexican Rock Band.

Hamm graduated from the Berklee College of Music in Boston, where he met guitarist Steve Vai and, through him, met Joe Satriani. He played bass on Vai’s 1984 debut solo album, Flex-Able and in 1990 Hamm was awarded the Distinguished Alumni Degree from his Alma Mater. He has performed and recorded with Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Eric Johnson, Michael Shenker, Frank Gambale, and many other well-respected guitarists, however, it was playing live on tour with Satriani that brought Hamm’s skills to national attention. Subsequent recordings with Satriani and other rock/fusion artists along with the release of his own solo recordings (featuring keyboard player Tommy Mars, guitarists Alan Holdsworth and Robert Fripp, drummers Steve Smith and Tommy Lee), solidified his reputation as a bassist and performer.

Randy McStine (Guitar, Vocals). Randy McStine is a multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, composer, and producer. Currently residing in Bronx, NY, McStine began playing guitar at the age of five. Performing and recording professionally by the age of ten, Randy has appeared on dozens of recordings. On stage and in the studio, he has worked with a diverse group of musicians, including members of Genesis, Tears For Fears, King Crimson, Porcupine Tree, Dream Theater, Miles Davis, King’s X, Spock’s Beard, and many others. McStine currently fronts two original bands (The Fringe, Lo-Fi Resistance), and can be seen on tour throughout North America as lead vocalist and co-guitarist of PFX-The Pink Floyd Experience.

Jeff Bowders is a Touring, Recording and Educating drummer in Los Angeles. Most notably, he is recognized as playing drums for some of the greatest guitarist on the planet such as Paul Gilbert, George Lynch, Joe Satriani, Richie Kotzen, Larry Mitchell, Justin Derrico, and Michelangelo. When not corralling all the notes from guitar wizards, he has also had the opportunity to work with such artist as Puddle of Mudd, Shakira, Nelson and Graham Bonnet.
