Guitarist & Composer David Kollar Releases New Improvisational Album “Guitar Stories” November 6, 2026
Sixteen spontaneous guitar improvisations capturing the human moment
Santa Fe, NM – In a world increasingly shaped by artificial intelligence, Slovak guitarist and composer David Kollar turns to something deeply personal and unpredictable: the spontaneity of live improvisation.
His new album, Guitar Stories, out November 6, 2026 on 7D Media, brings together sixteen electric guitar improvisations recorded over the past two years. Created mostly in his home studio, with several recordings captured during a visit to musician Rick Cox in Los Angeles, the album is an intimate collection of musical moments — spontaneous, unfiltered and impossible to recreate in exactly the same way.
All sixteen pieces were recorded in a single take, using a looper, Ableton Live and a variety of guitar effects. Rather than following predetermined compositions, Kollar allowed each improvisation to unfold naturally, embracing the imperfections, unexpected turns and surprises that are an essential part of the creative process.

Out of more than twenty recordings, Kollar selected sixteen that, in his words, “belong together and form a cohesive whole.” Despite their spontaneous origins, the pieces create a distinctive sonic journey, moving through different textures, moods and intensities.
Known for his adventurous approach to guitar playing and his ability to move between experimental music, improvisation, electronics and contemporary composition, Kollar has collaborated with internationally acclaimed musicians including Pat Mastelotto, Steven Wilson, Erik Truffaz and Arve Henriksen. He has also composed music for film, including the feature films MIKI and ČERNÁK.
With Guitar Stories, Kollar offers a more immediate and personal perspective on his musical language. It is an album built around the idea that not everything needs to be planned, perfected or repeated. Sometimes the most meaningful musical statement is simply the one that happens in the moment.
