Nik Turner Debuts A Visionary New Song/Video From His Bold New Solo Album!

Los Angeles, CA – In 2013, Nik Turner released the most acclaimed album of his solo career, Space Gypsy, the intergalactically acclaimed masterpiece that found this Hawkwind co-founder returning to his space rock roots alongside fellow Hawkwind alumnus Simon House and others. Now, Turner is preparing for departure on a whole new kind of spaceship, a musical project that finally frees him from the gravitational pull of traditional rock music orbits and launches into new stratospheres of jazz, blues, fusion, and other eclectic styles heretofore unknown to man.

This new album Space Fusion Odyssey is without a doubt the most musically ambitious undertaking Turner has ever attempted, stretching his already prodigious saxophone and flute playing skills to create instrumental soundscapes that entrance, confound, and stimulate all at the same time! As with many of his previous releases, Turner has surrounded himself with an incredible crew of fellow musicians who help him bring his vision to life. Dubbed the Interplanetary Arkestra (hat tip to Sun Ra), the group includes some of the most gifted and groundbreaking musicians of his generation such as legendary jazz drummer Billy Cobham, Doors’ guitarist Robby Krieger, Steve Hillage & Gilli Smyth of Gong, Soft Machine’s John Etheridge, Amon Düül II founder John Weinzierl and many more! Nik Turner’s Hawkwind To Tour North America With Witch Mountain And Hedersleben This Summer/Fall 2014!

Los Angeles, CA – In the spirit of the critically acclaimed and historic ‘Space Ritual’ tour of 1973, Nik Turner’s Hawkwind plan to blow minds on their sonic and visually stimulating journey on their 2014 North American tour with Portland’s own Witch Mountain and SF bay area Krautrockers Hedersleben. Starting in August, this package tour is not to be missed by anyone, in hopes to enlighten and inspire both people who have witnessed last year’s tour or any of Nik’s tours prior and the first timers, bringing sonic traditions of old to the forefront of 2014. Year 1 report…“It was the same time last year that Hedersleben accompanied Nik Turner on a space trek around the USA promoting their debut album ‘Upgoer’. Since then the crew have not been resting on their cosmic sofa rather they’ve pressed on to new and exciting ventures, including completing the next Brainticket album as the legendary Joel Vandroogenbroeck’s side-kicks (including many writing credits), launched their first headline tour of the west coast, preformed a showcase with special guest Captain Sensible from the Damned, (See the Hedersleben Facebook page for footage) and not least recorded their 2nd album ‘Die Neuen Welten’.

‘Die Neuen Welten’, featuring the epic side long “Zu Den Neuen Welten”, (Youtube video scheduled for mid August), celebrates the Kepler mission space telescopes discoveries of more than 2000 exoplanets. DNW also boasts the studio version of stage favorite “(On The Ground) Safe and Sound”. The album is mixed by Jürgen Engler of Die Krupps.

Prog fans look out for further large sections of Hedersleben’s 3rd album, slated for recording early next year, as part of this tours set. ‘The Fall Of Chronopolis’, based on the book of the same name by Barrington J. Nik Turner Prepares For Epic US Tour And Responds To Hawkwind Controversy

Los Angeles, CA – Co-founder of pioneering space-rock band Hawkwind, Nik Turner, will be hitting the road in support of his highly acclaimed new CD titled ‘Space Gypsy’. Starting in early October, the tour features nearly 30 stops in the US as well as a handful of additional shows in Canada, making it Turner’s most extensive tour of North America in decades! Turner will be joined on stage by the same musicians who brought ‘Space Gypsy’ to life: Nicky Garratt of famed punk band UK Subs, Jurgen Engler of German industrial band Die Krupps, Jeff Piccinini of ’70s punk icons Chelsea, and explosive drummer Jason Willer.

Nik Turner was a member of Hawkwind during what has been considered their most commercially successful and critically acclaimed period for the band from 1970 to 1976. He wrote/co-wrote some of the group’s most popular songs such as “Brainstorm” and “Master Of The Universe”. Hawkwind’s 4th and possibly most popular album ‘The Space Ritual Alive in Liverpool and London’ was recorded in 1972 (released in May 1973). Reaching #9 in the UK album charts and #179 in the Billboard Top 200, the double-record was recorded during the tour to promote the band’s ‘Doremi Fasol Latido’ (third) release. The Space Ritual show attempted to create a full audio-visual experience. The performances featured dancers, lightshow by Liquid Len and poetry recitations by Robert Calvert. Nik Turner will be fronting the show on vocals, flute and sax, and will be joined by his backing band: Jurgen Engler, founder of German band Die Krupps on guitar, audiogenerator and synthesizer; Nicky Garrett, founder of the UK Subs, on guitar; and Geoff Miles, of the 1970’s punk band Chelsea, on bass. Eccentric, innovative and enigmatic, Nik Turner is full of surprises! Other artists to perform include White Manna and other special psychedelic guests!
