New York Rock Quintet THE WALK-A-BOUT to Release New Full-Length Album 20/20 on Shred The Evidence Records

Long Island, New York – Aussie-American alternative rock quintet THE WALK-A-BOUT hail from the artistic East End of Long Island, New York. On June 5th, 2020 THE WALK-A-BOUT will release their full-length LP 20/20 worldwide in stores and online. Produced by Andrew Michael Bertrand and mastered by Roger Lian, 20/20 is an incredibly diverse record that explores many genres, expanding the scope of band’s classic sound. There is something on the album for everyone. Whether it’s alternative rock, world music, funk, or the influence of prog rock, THE WALK-A-BOUT’s music is visceral, emotional, fun and socially conscious.

THE WALK-A-BOUT began writing the material for 20/20 in March of 2019, right at the time when the band began to achieve massive radio success with their album THINGS ARE LOOKING UP, which consistently landed in Top 20 charts alongside such artists as Paul McCartney, Jeff Tweedy, Mumford & Sons and Death Cab for Cutie. The album reached #4 on Roots Music Radio Report, while the singles “Consequences,” “By My Side,” and “That’s Just The Way It Goes” ranked simultaneously in the Top 5 of the alternative rock singles chart. The album was also ranked #24 on Roots Music Radio Report’s “Best of 2019” chart. The video for “That’s Just The Way It Goes” had an online premiere hosted by Skope Entertainment and continuous play on over 75 broadcast outlets throughout the summer and early fall of 2018. THE WALK-A-BOUT also released a limited edition 180-Gram Red Splatter Vinyl of THINGS ARE LOOKING UP available exclusively through their website.

Band members Darren “Sully” Sullivan, Kevin Anderson, Drew Bertrand, and Dave Christian were joined by bass player Keenan Zach for the writing and recording of 20/20, and their collective vision has allowed THE WALK-A-BOUT to explore the outer reaches of music, soul and spirit. This dynamic new collection maintains the band’s depth and introspection, delivering a deep and entertaining album with pop appeal. 20/20 was recorded on 14 reels of two inch tape, a recording method that is reflected in the dynamic sound of this extraordinary release, which is destined to be a classic.

After years of composing beautiful compositions, fate brought acoustic guitar virtuoso Kevin Anderson together with Australian singer/songwriter, blues harpist and didgeridoo player Darren “Sully” Sullivan. Sully was the perfect songwriting partner to marry Kevin’s music with lyrical landscapes, and they began working together in the fall of 2015. The lineup moved closer to completion with a chance introduction to drummer and producer Drew Bertrand in December 2015. Drew quickly acknowledged the unique nature of Kevin and Sully’s writing and began sculpting arrangements for every song, carefully crafting the distinct identity of each piece. From there the band has since gathered Dave Christian on guitar and Keenan Zach on bass. The material for 20/20 was written between March and September of 2019. With a master’s degree in music theory, Keenan Zach was an invaluable resource in the studio while crafting the songs, bringing a new layer of thoughtfulness and quality control to the already exceptional songwriting.

Other musicians on the record include Michael Amendola on tenor sax, Mark Rechler on Hammond organ, and special guest vocalist Victoria Faiella. Roger Lian and Drew Bertrand worked closely on the final mixes and masters, the two having an integral and long-term working relationship that spans twenty-one years. The stunning album art and design for 20/20 was done by Drew’s good friend George Panagakos of 525 Media, and it makes the vinyl worth buying for just the artwork alone.

THE WALK-A-BOUT has toured along the East and West Coasts throughout 2018 and 2019. They are currently preparing a world tour in support of their new album release 20/20, and you can check out the lyric video for the first new single “Victory Parade” on their recently re-designed website!

Formed in 1989, IONA took their name from the small island off the west coast of Scotland. From the beginning, their aim was to write spiritual, atmospheric, yet uplifting music that would stir the emotions, weaving complex patterns that echo the intricate knot work of the great Celtic artists. Quintessential American Garage Band THE LIMITS Continue To Find New Fans Under The Leadership Of Musician RICK LEVY!

Los Angeles, CA – Memphis rock icon Alex Chilton of Big Star & The Box Tops called The Limits “the quintessential American Garage band…both preposterous and sublime,” and said their version of “Suzie Q” was “the best I ever heard.”

Formed in Allentown PA in late 1964, The Limits were by 1965 playing all over the Lehigh Valley at frat parties, teen clubs, school dances and more. Chris, Rook, Beau Jones, Rick Levy, Irwing Goldberg and Jack Shaffer honed their skills with constant gigs and rehearsals. The collection Garage Nuggets ’65-’68 is a compilation of the early Limits recordings – live, in the studio, in rehearsal – capturing the band’s first attempts at songwriting while the collection Songs About Girls captures their later incarnation from 1979-1988. Both collections have been reissued on all digital music platforms courtesy of a licensing arrangement with Garage Masters, a division of Cleopatra Records, Inc.

Rick Levy, who spearheaded the band’s ‘80s revival, continues to keep The Limits torch burning bright with gigs and special engagements all over the US delighting fans with their authenticity and love of early pop and rock. Levy has also gone on to perform with and manage such artists as Jay & The Techniques, Herman’s Hermits, Tommy Roe, Freddy Cannon and currently performs with The Box Tops. NYC – Art Rock & Jazz Folk Fusion artist Dyanne Potter Voegtlin of Potter’s Daughter will perform at The Uncancelled Music Festival on Sunday April 19th, 2020 at 5pm. The virtual stage is hosted by The Union County Performing Arts Center in Rahway NJ.

Proceeds from the festival go to the artists and venues to help keep them going during this unprecedented crisis. A portion of the proceeds from each show will be donated to the Recording Academy’s emergency financial assistance program, MusiCares. Dyanne is donating 100% of her proceeds to MusiCares.

In these uncertain times Ugly Runner is trying to keep a smile on our faces with their new timely video “Eat The Neighbors!”

Says guitarist/vocalist Stephen Britt, “’Eat The Neighbors!’ was written as a joke after being unable to find many supplies during the onset of the pandemic. I wanted a colorful take on a dystopian, class-war apocalypse once essential supplies had dissipated and chaos had taken over. The track was recorded at my house in Asheville, North Carolina, by Ryan Glisson with help from Lowell Hobbs and Edwin Mericle. We collaborated with Marcd (marcd.co) for the animation, and they killed it. I wanted to create something fun that would help people smile during these unprecedented times. People everywhere are struggling with income loss, and a lot of them being renters at the mercy of slumlords with minimal protections in place. If you stack those issues on top of mandatory isolation, mental health across the country will spiral. We all need to keep each other up.”

Ugly Runner is a 4-piece rock ‘n’ roll outfit from Asheville, North Carolina. As broad as the spectrum of rock ‘n’ roll itself, so are the influences of Ugly Runner, which range from California Punk to British Rhythm & Blues. Aiming to create timeless rock ‘n’ roll that dances on the edge of psychedelia, and invokes nostalgia from the first listen, the band entered the studio in May 2019 to record their debut EP, “Romanticizer,” at Sedgwick Studios in Flat Rock, NC. Los Angeles – Make Believe Friends is a new band name for Laura Espinoza and Mindy Milburn who are also the core members of the critically acclaimed band Lunden Reign. Laura and Mindy wanted a second group so they could explore creating other styles of music. Matt Denis (bass) and Noel Jasso (drums), also from Lunden Reign, and Miranda Miller (from Hey Violet!) will also be a part of the new lineup for Make Believe Friends. However, this new version will feature a more contemporary sound.

Laura is a songwriter/guitarist, playwright, and TV producer. Laura recently won a NARAS songwriting contest, exclusive to Grammy voting members where she participated in a private songwriting workshop with Busby, Rodney Jerkins, and Sarah Hudson. She has performed on stage with Luis Maldonado (Train), Terri Nunn (Berlin), Dale Bozzio (Missing Persons) & Prescott Niles (The Knack) and started her career with Matt Sorum (Guns n’ Roses). She has recorded at Capitol Records, Hollywood, Abbey Road, UK and is the host of “The Rock Radio Show” on KBU-FM, Malibu. Laura is also the recipient of 3 Emmy Awards.

Mindy has a passion for singing and music. Originally from Cleveland Ohio, Mindy also sings for other bands when not performing with Make Believe Friends and Lunden Reign including both No Doubt and Madonna tribute bands. Mindy is now living in Los Angeles after moving from Ohio and is the proud parent of two wonderful children.

Los Angeles, CA – As the world continues to be consumed by the COVID-19 pandemic, Mandoki Soulmates mastermind and leader Leslie Mandoki has found inspiration and a new spark of hope amidst the chaos. He has penned a powerful new song in appreciation for the heroes who have emerged in this global crisis, the nurses, doctors, and other health care providers as well as the grocery store clerks and food delivery personnel who have stepped up to serve their communities. The new song, entitled simply “Thank You,” expresses so clearly the feelings of gratitude many of us have felt in these troubled times. Mandoki explains, “As an artist, I feel it is my duty to contemplate ideas for a better world. Now, like so many of us, I suddenly have the time. Let us grab this uncommon moment of pause together and take a new approach to the problems of the world. Los Angeles, CA – Todd Rundgren’s cult prog/art rock outfit Utopia released a mere handful of studio albums in several incarnations starting in 1974 before retiring in the early ‘80s. Yet the band has managed to maintain an intensely devout fanbase that enthusiastically flocked to sold out performances when Rundgren revived the act for a national tour in 2018. The seed of that extraordinarily successful reunion lay in a charitable act years earlier when Rundgren’s longtime friend, songwriting partner and founding member of the original Todd Rundgren’s Utopia, Moogy “Mark” Klingman, fell ill. As Klingman’s health deteriorated and his medical bills began to pile up, Todd Rundgren’s Utopia reformed for special benefit engagements to raise money for their dear friend. The result was an astounding coming together in music and a spirit of compassion as former Utopia members, including Mr. Klingman himself, stepped on the stage behind their leader, Todd Rundgren, and gave the fans an incredible concert, one they wouldn’t soon forget.

Now, a new box set collects together both the audio and video of the January 2011 Todd Rundgren’s Utopia reunion show as well as the November show later that year recorded just a few days after Klingman’s passing. The entire box, titled Benefit For Moogy Klingman, is a multi-media treasure trove featuring 4 audio discs and 2 DVDs with special features that include interviews with the band members and a gorgeous booklet with extensive liner notes and photos. The box is set to be released on May 1 courtesy of Purple Pyramid Records, a division of Cleopatra Records, Inc.

The Outlaws Legend Harvey Dalton Arnold Releases New Album Stories To Live Up To

“Standing up or laying down, I won’t be here when the sun goes down,” says the 66 year old Southern Rock legend Harvey Dalton Arnold on “When the Sun Goes Down” from his new release Stories to Live Up To released on Music Maker Recordings.

For the guitar cowboy who quit high school and left his home in rural Eastern North Carolina to hit the road playing rock and roll at 17, Stories to Live Up To is a retrospective album, examining the emotions and choices that have defined Arnold’s life. His decision to hit the road eventually led him to become the bassist and vocalist for iconic Southern Rock band The Outlaws during the peak of their fame. Arnold’s tenure with The Outlaws came at the peak of an American art form that spoke to a generation.

Says Harvey, “Stories To Live Up To is a bunch of songs that I’ve written with the intent of kind of painting a picture or telling a story. I’ve been playing and writing mostly in the blues vein that I love so much, and I believe that this album is a fresh adventure for me.”

On his new record, his second released by Music Maker, Harvey doesn’t just look back, he wails through the everyday experiences that make an opera out of every man’s life – the perils and the joy of love, cheating, loss and longing. Accompanying Arnold in the studio is a crew of musicians with a righteous set of their own rock and roll bonafides. On bass Zev Katz (Paul Simon, James Brown, Carole King, Eric Clapton, on drums Charley Drayton (The Rolling Stones, Paul Simon, Neil Young, Miles Davis), on Piano, Rhodes, B3 Organ, and Keyboards Rob Arthur (Jimmy McGriff, Peter Frampton, Joan Osborne), and Zak Alister on Rhythm Guitar.

Says Harvey, “The album was recorded at Cowboy Technical Services Studio with Tim Hatfield, the owner engineering. We were all in one small room with no isolation, and we mostly played live, including my guitar solos and vocals. The record is not perfect, but its very human and has a spontaneous soul about it… I’m very proud of it and it was my most satisfying, fun recording experience ever. I look forward to supporting this CD with a video and live gigs in the future and my heart goes out to my friends in NYC as they and all try to survive the virus pandemic.”
