Celebrated Music Duo Glass House To Release Highly Anticipated Third Album – ‘Long Way Down’

“Excellent. Listen up!!” – Bobby McFerrin

Oakland, CA – Much to the anticipation of music aficionados worldwide, the long-awaited third album from acclaimed Oakland music duo Glass House, ‘Long Way Down’, will be released on October 15, 2013. Featuring David Worm, best known for his long association with vocal pioneer Bobby McFerrin and guitarist / multi-instrumentalist Mark Vickness.

Combining songwriting influences from artists such as Sting, Paul Simon, Peter Gabriel, Jason Mraz and Dave Matthews, with performance styles influenced by Bobby McFerrin and Michael Hedges, ‘Long Way Down’ is a tour de force of Mark Vickness’ intricate, layered guitars and David Worm’s soaring, blues-inflected vocals. The CD reflects the full range of Glass House, from the sparsely haunting solo acoustic guitar and voice rendition of Robbie Robertson’s “Broken Arrow”, the funk string quartet intro to “Turn Away” to the driving, world music-infused choral tapestry of “Build A Bridge”. Lyrics run the gamut from tender personal pathos (For Now, Thank You) to timely political and social narratives (Turn Away, Where I Belong). Widely-acclaimed YouTube videos by Glass House Music have been viewed by hundreds of thousands of fans. When the live version video of Broken Arrow was first released, it was the seventh most-viewed YouTube video according to Billboard.com, beating out Christina Aguilera’s “You Lost Me” and Pearl Jam’s “Unthought Known.”

Says Mark, “I would say the overreaching concept of the new album is as simple as two old friends writing and performing well crafted, honest songs with the help of a bunch of superb artists we were lucky to be able to work with. The lyrics generally speak to two different themes: 1) socially responsible messages, and 2) personal songs usually involving some kind of striving for fulfillment. Musically, this third CD is the culmination of 23 years working together. It blends the various styles David and I have been involved in over the years: singer/songwriter, folk, blues, jazz, classical, world.”

With over twenty-three years of working together, David Worm and Mark Vickness have shared much more than a passion for great songwriting. From personal tragedy to the joy of raising children, through all the changes of the last two decades, these musicians have made writing songs together a constant thread, a platform on which to build not just a body of work but a lifelong friendship and a musical chemistry that infuses every song.

Over the years, David and Mark have worked with many phenomenal musicians. That trend continues on their new album. Producer/bassist Jon Evans is well-known for his years recording and touring with Tori Amos and Third Eye Blind. Two time Grammy winners, The Turtle Island String Quartet contribute their remarkable talents on two songs. Also appearing are drummers Scott Amendola (Charlie Hunter), L.A. studio ace, MB Gordy (Frank Zappa, Green Day, Bill Withers), tabla virtuoso Ty Burhoe, violinist Mads Tolling (Stanley Clarke) and vocalists Ashling Cole (Prince) and Julianna Graffagna (Kitka).

David Worm, a native of Oakland California, began his singing career in 1985 with the Bay Area groups Jazz Mouth and Vocal Front. In 1989 he became a founding member of Bobby McFerrin’s Voicestra and has remained a regular performer with McFerrin, featured on recordings, videos, and touring internationally. Most recently, David performed with McFerrin at the San Francisco debut of McFerrin’s Vocabularies with the Pacific Mozart Ensemble. David is also a founding member of the a cappella group, SoVoSo, an internationally acclaimed vocal ensemble which has released six albums and tours worldwide. Other current performing projects include touring and teaching in the innovative improvisational trio, WeBe3, where he teams up with dear friends and vocal powerhouses Rhiannon and Joey Blake, collaborating with spoken word artist PC Munoz and his band Left Hook, and singing and performing with the Bay Area’s Miribai Ensemble. David has over fifty recording credits as a session singer, vocal percussionist, and writer, and his original music has been recorded by groups both nationally and internationally. David has worked extensively with the Bay Area dance community, having scored or co-written numerous full-length works for Robert Moses’ Kin (one of these projects being a recipient of the Isadora Duncan Award), Oberlin Dance, Tandy Beal, Project Bandaloop (an Isadora Duncan Award nominee), Cherie Carson, June Watanabe, and Suzanne Gallo. David’s music has also been used in scoring the film documentaries “StepUp” for Canadian director Tamas Wormser, and “Love Francesca” for producer Julie LaSalle. David has taught improvisational singing and vocal percussion at the Omega Institute in New York, The Esalen Institute in Big Sur California, and regularly teaches vocal improvisation and vocal percussion in schools and other places of learning throughout the U.S. and Europe

Taught from an early age (he began his studies in classical piano at age six) to broaden his musical horizons as much as possible, Mark Vickness is a multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and composer with a huge musical range developed over years of study, recording and performance. With a master’s degree in composition, Mark has written scores from simple pieces for piano and voice to large jazz ensembles to a concerto for North Indian Tabla, from large-scale ballets to documentary film scores. He has years of experience in world music having performed in West African Drum ensembles, an Indonesian Gamelan orchestra, and as a sitarist and tabla player. A classically trained guitarist, his principle influences are Michael Hedges, Pat Metheny, John Mclaughlin, Joe Pass and Ralph Towner. Mark has led rock bands, jazz bands, experimental improvisational groups and everything in between. He plays a custom-made eight string guitar/bass, a Michael Greenfield G4 fan fret six-string and a Duane Noble eleven-string harp guitar. He is endorsed by Greenfield Guitars. Mark began writing songs at age twelve inspired initially by iconic songwriters including James Taylor, Joni Mitchell, Elton John and Pete Townsend.

Here’s what’s being said about “Long Way Down’:

“Excellent. Listen up!!” – Bobby McFerrin

“Just beautiful. I don’t want it to end. We’re filled in this world with a lot of things that bring us down, that knock our spirits down. Music like that just lifts me up.” – Larry Kelp, KPFA 94.1 FM

“Thanks so much for the terrific show at Noe Valley Ministry last night. I thoroughly enjoyed your performance, especially the opening song – just beautiful work.” – Drew Pearce, Bay Area music journalist

“Glass House will no doubt strike a chord with its target audience.” – Kirsty Evans, East Bay Express

In conclusion, Mark has this to impart, “We hope our audience will give ‘Long Way Down’ a close listening. Our music is intricate. It’s layered. With my background as a composer and David’s work with different types of vocal groups over the years, the arrangements on ‘Long Way Down’ are rich with subtlety. The guest artists added a lot of great playing and harmony singing. Enjoy!”

Metal Superstars Reinvent Michael Jackson’s Biggest Hits On A New Tribute Album

0945-THRILLER5x5 med

For Immediate Release

Metal Superstars Reinvent Michael Jackson’s Biggest Hits On A New Tribute Album

Performances by Danny Worsnop of ASKING ALEXANDRIA, Chuck Billy of TESTAMENT, Elias Soriano of NONPOINT, Lajon Witherspoon of SEVENDUST, Phil Campbell of MOTÖRHEAD, Doug Pinnick of KING’S X, Angelo Moore of FISHBONE, Priya Panda of DIEMONDS, Chris Jericho of FOZZY, Corey Glover of LIVING COLOUR and more!

Los Angeles, CA – Just in time for Halloween, a scarily impressive alliance of metal and hard rock luminaries has formed to create one of the most depraved abominations of musical crossbreeding in history – an all metal tribute to the King Of Pop, Michael Jackson, available on CD October 22! Never before have such quintessential pop hits as “Beat It,” “Thriller,” “Billy Jean” and “Man In The Mirror” been so completely transformed, substituting softly stylized synths with crunchy, distorted guitars, replacing the pitter patter of programmed beats with pulverizing double bass acoustic drums, and topping it off with some of the finest, most powerful vocals in metal. When completed, these reinventions pay due respect to the expertly crafted melodies and songs that made Michael Jackson one of the most beloved figures in all of music, and offer legions of metalheads a reason to simultaneously grab their crotches and throw the horns in celebration! \m/ \m/

Spearheaded by producer/musician Bob Kulick, who also helped in the arrangement of these cover versions, the project was in his words a “labor of love” for all involved. Exclaims Kulick, “We made these awesome songs kick ass while still being faithful to the original versions. Add killer players like Doug Aldrich, Billy Sheehan, Bruce Kulick, Rudy Sarzo, Tony Franklin, Craig Goldy, Bumblefoot, Phil Campbell and you’ve got some real MAGIC!” Rudy Sarzo, a stalwart of the metal scene as a member of both Quiet Riot and Queensrÿche, reflects, “Michael Jackson’s music is synonymous with iconic rockers such as Eddie Van Halen, Steve Stevens and Slash. So it’s only fitting that the rock community pays tribute to this legendary artist with Metal Mike!” And Fishbone’s Angelo Moore expresses great enthusiasm for his contribution, saying “I never thought I would hear myself doing a cover of ‘The Way You Make Me Feel,’ but it’s an honor and a dream come true. We put a different twist on it to give it a whole new light, or maybe I should say a whole new dark!”

In addition to the legends Kulick enlisted, several of today’s modern metal figures also contributed, including Elias Soriano of Nonpoint, who comments, “It was my pleasure to do this tribute to MJ. My admiration for the talent and history he has given to music overall will be hard to replace. My only wish is that I did him justice with my performance.” Jason Myers, of Icarus Witch, one of the current flag bearers in the traditional metal scene, declares, “When we were approached by Cleopatra to contribute to the Michael Jackson tribute we were honored (due to the legendary talent already on board), but a bit skeptical about how our fans would react…Choosing an unorthodox hit took a bit of pressure off and allowed us to put more of ourselves into the track.”

Finally, bassist Tony Franklin, who has worked with everyone from Led Zeppelin’s Jimmy Page to Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour to Whitesnake, confirms the surprise and astonishment many felt during the creation of the album, “The first thing I noticed was how easily these out and out pop songs translated to the metal genre. That is the sign of, one, a great song and, two, a great production and arrangement.” He goes on to note that it wasn’t just the songs that were transformed when Metal met Pop on these recordings; the performers themselves were transformed. He states, “It was very cool to see how the guest artists interpreted these songs as it brought out a different side of them – a side we wouldn’t usually hear.”

1. Thriller – Chuck Billy (Testament)
2. Man In The Mirror – Danny Worsnop (Asking Alexandria) & Billy Sheehan (Mr. Big)
3. The Way You Make Me Feel – Angelo Moore (Fishbone), Doug Aldrich (Whitesnake), & Rudy Sarzo (Queensrÿche)
4. Black Or White – Lajon Witherspoon (Sevendust), Bruce Kulick (ex-KISS), & Tony Franklin (The Firm)
5. Beat It – Priya Panda (Diemonds) & Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal (Guns N’ Roses)
6. Billy Jean – Corey Glover (Living Colour) & Phil Campbell (Motörhead)
7. Shake Your Body (Down To The Ground) – Elias Soriano (Nonpoint)
8. Rock With You – Doug Pinnick (King’s X)
9. Dirty Diana – Chris Jericho (Fozzy)
10. Bad – Paul Dianno (ex-Iron Maiden) & Craig Goldy (Dio)
11. They Don’t Care About Us – Icarus Witch
12. Never Can Say Goodbye – Lonnie Jordan (War)
13. Smooth Criminal – Alien Ant Farm

Rare 1973 Live Concert Recording Of Prog Legends Flash Featuring Peter Banks ‘Flash – In Public’ To Be Released
October 29, 2013

Asheville, NC – Much to the anticipation of progressive rock fans worldwide, for the first time, a rare recording of UK prog group Flash, featuring legendary guitarist Peter Banks, from January 21, 1973 will be released on CD on October 29, 2013. Titled ‘Flash – In Public’, this historic and exciting concert recording features the original Flash line-up – Peter Banks, Colin Carter, Ray Bennett and Mike Hough in rare form live at Kansas City’s Cowtown Ballroom. The show was taped on the very first mobile truck for The Record Plant. Flash were on the same bill that evening with The Byrds, who would disband after a few more dates. The shows were all recorded for the Lee Jeans & Cotton concert series – the first nationally syndicated rock concert series!

Tracks include:
Small Beginnings 8:36
Black And White 12:23
Stop That Banging 4:10
There No More 8:45
Children Of The Universe 8:43
Dreams Of Heaven 24.54

The CD was finished by Flash crew member George Mizer and serves also as a tribute to the late Peter Banks, who passed away just days before finishing the final mix in March 2013. Says George, “1972-73 was a very special time for me and my love for music in general, getting to go out on the road with one of my favorite bands was unreal for me, now 40 years later we are getting the first complete Flash concert recording ever to be released. Even with the loss of Pete Banks in March I am sure he would have been pleased with the ‘Flash featuring Ray Bennett and Colin Carter’ release – if you haven’t got it yet you are missing a treat.”

Steve Hackett: “I remember Pete in the early seventies as a friend and superb guitarist. Phil Collins and I were fans of Pete and his band Flash. Pete’s talent extended way beyond the work he did with YES. I remember him very well.”

Tony Kaye: “To play keyboards with Peter in YES and later with Flash was always an honor and a challenge. He never compromised his guitar style and always pushed for the best from the musicians he played with.”

Manchester UK’s Crystal Grenade Explores The Darker Side Of Life On Debut Album ‘Lo! And Behold’

Manchester, UK – Manchester is a strange city; the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution, the world’s most popular soccer team, and the Trades Union Congress, its musical legacy is unparalleled. Bands such as The Hollies, The Smiths, The Bee Gees and – of course – Joy Division have changed the world. To quote Morrissey out of context: “Oh Manchester, so much to answer for”.

And now to introduce another Mancunian songstress, with this strange and oddly challenging city deep within her musical DNA. Miss Crystal Grenade, has been described as “Shakespeares Sister fighting Amanda Palmer and Tori Amos in a dimly lit Victorian pub. With hand deformities.” And that’s a pretty good way of putting it. Miss Crystal Grenade explores the darker side of life, framed by the concept of Freak Show life of the late 1800s. Whether she is indeed a late Victorian sideshow attraction who has only survived this long because of her fragile beauty and low cunning, or whether she is a character created by critically acclaimed singer and pianist Carol Hodge is a matter for discussion.

Possibly the most infamous seven fingered pianist in the UK, Hodge is probably best known as the lady who sang alongside Steve Ignorant (once of Crass) on his Last Supper world tour. She now sings with Steve in the new acoustic project Slice of Life. Touring the world singing the songs of Crass gave Carol the confidence she needed to finally spread her gnarled yet unique solo wings.

Miss Crystal Grenade’s debut album Lo! And Behold is due to be released in October 2013 by Gonzo. Produced by Nick Zart (The Modern, Matinee Club, Backdraft, Kactus), the aim of the album was to capture the raw emotion of the vocal performance, in as live a manner as possible. The songs twist tales of regret, malfeasance and death in all its various forms.

Featuring material recorded by Harvey Birrell (Therapy?, Stereolab, Snuff, Stratford Mercenaries, Buzzcocks, Johnny Foreigner), at Southern Studios, Miss Crystal Grenade has the dubious accolade of being the last artist to record at this historic location.

Track listing:
1. Welcome To The Freak Show
2. You Could Have Lived
3. 1892 Man*
4. Lost For Words*
5. Changed*
6. Take Aim!
7. Go Round Twice*
8. Leaving…
9. Shape Of Things*
10. Nothing To Do With Me
11. For Alison (What’s Left Behind)*

* recommended for radio

Sons Of Hippies Join East Coast Leg Of Soul Coughing Front Man Mike Doughty’s National Tour, Release New Video

Sons Of Hippies Join East Coast Leg Of Soul Coughing Front Man Mike Doughty’s National Tour, Release New Video

Los Angeles, CA – One of the most talked about bands in modern psych-space rock, Sons Of Hippies, will take the stage as the opening act for Soul Coughing’s Mike Doughty on the mid-October stretch of his national tour. Doughty encountered the Hippies through his booking agent, who happened to catch the group’s video for “Rose” on YouTube. Impressed with the video and the buzz surrounding the band, whose 2013 release Griffons At The Gates Of Heaven was greeted with much critical acclaim, it was decided that the Hippies would make a fine opening act for Doughty. Dates are as follows:

Oct 16 Teaneck, NJ Mexicali Live
Oct 17 Philadelphia, PA Union Transfer
Oct 18 South Burlington, VT Higher Ground
Oct 19 Boston, MA Paradise Rock Club
Oct 20 Portland, ME Port City Music Hall
Oct 22 Cleveland, OH Beachland Ballroom
Oct 23 Detroit, MI Saint Andrew’s Hall
Oct 24 Chicago, IL Park West
Oct 25 Minneapolis, MN First Avenue
Oct 26 St. Louis, MO Off Broadway
Oct 27 Milwaukee, WI Turner Hall

Fans of the band and viewers of the Hippies’ previous videos (“Rose,” “Spaceship Ride”) are well acquainted with the band’s penchant for intensely creative, humorous and eye-catching videos. That streak continues with the release of their newest video for the slow burner “Mirrorball,” the opening shot of which includes a pair of bikini clad, hula hooping hotties in Nixon and Reagan masks…and then things get weird. Featuring vocalist/guitarist Katherine Kelly dressed as a black hooded terrorist, shaving the head of her young male captive, as well as shots of the entire band indulging in copious amounts of cocaine like the drug fueled mania of the ‘70s & ‘80s never went away, the “Mirrorball” video shocks the senses and subverts expectations in a way that will have you both laughing and gaping in slack jawed wonder.

See for yourself! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F2QSlNIbkOU (Preview)

Conceived by the spiritual union of Katherine Kelly and drummer Jonas Canales amidst the good vibes of the Bonnaroo Music Festival, Sons Of Hippies began their journey in 2008, adding bassist David Daly to the fold in 2011. Together the trio conquered the Florida music scene, earning accolades from audiences and critics alike including honors from their local alternative weekly Creative Loafing. Their 2013 release Griffons At The Gates Of Heaven launched the band to new heights, bringing them heaps of international praise such as the British zine Vive Le Rock declaring “Psychedelia just got motherfucking sexy,” and Classic Rock Radio Dot EU proclaiming “Griffons starts off well and then keeps getting better…it begs to be experienced time and time again” while Penny Black Music says “This is a powerful, well crafted and produced slab of modern alt rock.”

Genesis Tribute Vocalist And Star Trek Convention Founder Unite For New Prog Rock Project XNA Produced By Billy Sherwood

Los Angeles, CA – Following in the musical footsteps of progressive giants such as Yes and Genesis, L.A.-based collective XNA launches their debut recording, the riveting and ambitious concept album When We Changed You, available October 22. Founded by vocalist David Hussey of Genesis tribute band Gabble Ratchet and keyboardist Adam Malin, composer/author of several solo sci-fi rock operas including “Singularity” and co-founder of Creation Entertainment, the company responsible for the original Star Trek Convention, XNA effortlessly traffics in classic prog rock but with a unique, multi-layered, symphonic sound. The evocative lyrics relay strange cinematic stories steeped in history, science fiction, and the macabre. Rounding out the band are drummer Scott Connor of CIRCA: and the Bobby Kimball-fronted Yoso, who provides the rhythmic backbone for the album, and guitarist Danny Bryle of Psychle and Low Media High, who furnishes intricate melodies throughout.

To help bring this epic project to life, the band enlisted a true prog rock mainstay, producer and multi-instrumentalist Billy Sherwood, who also contributes his incredible bass and guitar playing to the recording. Known worldwide for his work with the prog rock institution Yes, and famous for creating lush soundscapes with astounding depth and complexity, Mr. Sherwood possesses production talents that seemed a custom fit for XNA’s sound. Enthuses Sherwood, “The XNA project is amazing in both concept and performance. Each member of the band brings a level of virtuosity that when they join forces it becomes an incredibly dynamic and musically expressive production: orchestral music with power and punch, vocal depth, rock ‘n’ roll guitars and everything else it takes to make the perfect magical mixture. They asked me on board to produce/mix and it was an instant ‘yes’.”

Earlier this month, Sherwood found himself thrust into an even brighter spotlight thanks to a high-profile, headline-grabbing collaboration with Captain James T. Kirk himself, William Shatner. Shatner also received an early copy of the XNA album When We Changed You and declared it “masterful and wonderful,” exhorting the band to “share it with the world.” Leonard Nimoy a/k/a Spock likewise offered early praise for the group, “Marvelous -You rock the world!”

Befitting XNA’s commitment to recapturing a more artistic era of music, the album is being released in a sumptuous hardcover digipak and lavish, full color 24-page booklet of lyrics, original paintings and conceptual art.

Italian Prog Ensemble Sarastro Blake Release Debut CD ‘New Progmantics’ Featuring Members of YES, Caravan, Greenslade, Alan Parsons Project and Steve Hackett Band

Featuring Prog Legends Rick Wakeman, Richard Sinclair, Nick Magnus, Billy Sherwood, David Paton, Dave Lawson and Amanda Lehmann

Italy – Prog music enthusiasts worldwide are buzzing with excitement about the debut release by Italian ensemble Sarastro Blake titled ‘New Progmantics’. Sarastro Blake is a new musical project which takes its inspiration from the Alan Parsons Project as a band format, meaning it revolves around a few selected musicians, plus other special guests who are chosen for their specific talent and for certain songs. Featuring prog legends Rick Wakeman (YES), Richard Sinclair (Caravan/Hatfield & The North), Nick Magnus (Steve Hackett), David Paton (Alan Parsons Project), Dave Lawson (Greenslade), Billy Sherwood (YES) and Amanda Lehmann (Steve Hackett band), Sarastro Blake’s ‘New Progmatics’ just may be one of the top prog releases of 2013!

“It’s always great fun to play a solo or add keyboards to a track on an album you are not directly involved with and this was no exception. I was really pleased with the end result and I hope everybody who listens to the track feels the same.” – Rick Wakeman

“I really enjoyed singing and playing bass on the new Sarastro Blake album!” – Richard Sinclair

The project first came to light when Paolo Pigni (bass, acoustic guitars and vocals) teamed up with multi-instrumentalist and member of prog group Mogador, Luca Briccola, who also produced the album. Richard Allen, also of Mogador, helped with vocals and management. Mirko Soncini and Filippo Pedretti, both of Celtic Harp Orchestra, played drums and violin respectively. Last but not least, Serena Bossi and Marco Carenzio from folk prog outfit Trewa (led by Briccola as well) provided vocals.

Says Paolo, “The concept behind the album is quite ‘romantic’ as the title suggests. There is the seeking of a spiritual path and certain nostalgia of the past, which are embedded in the lyrics of some of the most illustrious British poets and painters. Some of the lyrics I wrote myself, which I published a few years ago in a booklet called ‘A Pocketful of Poetry’, under the pseudonym George William Payne. In the end I realized most of the words dealt with love, whether spiritual or for a person, with hope and disillusion.”

Each special guest artist was meticulously chosen for their specific talent and for certain songs on ‘New Progmantics’…

“When Paolo first invited me to play on his album I have to admit I was filled with trepidation, however, after hearing the track he wanted me to play on I started ‘noodling’ and came up with a couple ideas which I hope are simpatico. The track concerned was a homage to Scotland, the land of my forefathers and it’s true to say, although I probably have more Italian blood in my veins and definitely more Italian wine, the song conjured up a feeling of nostalgia for the Highlands.” – Dave Lawson

“I learned a lot from bands like YES, Genesis, Pink Floyd and King Crimson and could relate immediately to what I heard in the music that Paolo sent me. I informed him that I’d be happy to lend my voice to such a polished project…I experimented with harmonies and slight changes in the melody to suit my voice, but all and all they got it right with the songs and I was able to sing the melodies easily and had a lot of fun doing so.” – David Paton

“I was very happy to be asked by Paolo to sing ‘My Heart Is In The Highlands’ for the Sarastro Blake album. I loved the wild, romantic vibe of the song, and was inspired to add some swirling vocal harmonies to my main vocal to compliment the song’s natural sense of freedom and pathos, and to intertwine with the flute. It was great to listen to the finished album with it’s imaginative and broad range of musical styles.” – Amanda Lehmann

Although titled ‘New Progmantics’, the album has nothing ‘new’ about it, but rather it is retro, old fashioned and indeed romantic! It is a work filled with genuine inspiration, and with some melodies that one will remember for a long time to come…

“It was a real pleasure to play on ‘New Progmantics’, and I’m delighted to be part of the project. There’s such a diversity of music here, highly melodic and atmospheric. Paolo and Luca have chosen their guest artists with utmost care and intuition, each one being perfectly matched to their particular tracks. This album should delight prog fans old and new…” – Nick Magnus

“I enjoyed playing on Paolo’s record because it was very challenging music to play. He is a very creative musician/composer and has made a ver unique record indeed. I am honored to be part of it.” – Billy Sherwood

Former Gathering/Devin Townsend Vocalist Anneke van Giersbergen Premieres “My Mother Said” Music Video

Los Angeles, CA – Dutch singer Anneke van Giersbergen has premiered a new video for “My Mother Said”. The song is from her critically acclaimed latest album ‘Drive’, which will be released in the US on October 15, 2013. The video was directed by fellow Dutchman Raymond van Olphen, the photographer also responsible for ‘The Road To Drive’, an access-all-areas look at the journey she went on to craft her fifth solo studio album.

Anneke had the following to say about the video, “This is a very personal song for me. The lyrical content is inspired by talks I had with my parents as a young adult, but it’s also a ballad of parental affection. That’s why we used some old 8mm footage of me as a baby and as a young child.”
