Studio City, CA – Lightyear Entertainment announces that it will release a spinoff of the acclaimed “Get Thrashed: The Story of Thrash Metal” (2006) titled “Get Thrashed: Around the World” on Tuesday, December 10th.

Nearly 20 years after the release of the original Get Thrashed¸ Lighyear has teamed up with the film’s director, Rick Ernst, to create a brand-new feature using a mix of deleted scenes, unused interviews, and updated graphics. “Around The World” takes audiences on a global journey through the thrash metal phenomenon, highlighting lesser-known bands and thrash metal scenes that reveal the genre’s international impact. Focusing on individual countries like Germany, France, UK, Norway, Denmark, Brazil, Japan, Australia, and many more, even the most hardcore of thrash metal fans are sure to learn something new.

The new film has also been mastered in 1080p using up-to-date technology that was not available in 2006 for the original “Get Thrashed” movie.

This compilation collects together, for the first time, many of the band’s rare tracks from the late 1990s and early 2000s, some of which have been unavailable for over 20 years.

Chicago – Living thousands of miles apart, United States based, award-winning multi-instrumentalist, Paul Adams, and Australia based, award-winning pianist, flugelhorn instrumentalist and vocalist, Elizabeth Geyer, have been creating music together from opposite ends of the globe since their debut collaboration, “Imaginings.” Across the oceans and continents, something definitely worked synergistically and continues to work. Their album won the award, “Contemporary Instrumental Album of the Year” at the Zone Music Reporter Awards in 2015. Following, “Imaginings,” came “Deeper Imaginings” and “Sanctuary,” the New Age Music Guide’s “Album of the Year” of 2022.

Continuing to unfold the timeless, spiritual sanctuary that has become a trademark of their music, came the (December 2023) single from this new album, “A Journey of Dreams.” The full album release of “A Journey of Dreams” met with delays after the success of the single but is finally released on 11/15/24. It involves Adams’ creative musical talent and his collection of exotic world instruments as well as the electric sitar he made in the days when he was a luthier. Their successful journeys have amassed over 138 million streams on Pandora as well as regular programming on SiriusXM Radio.

Blended with Elizabeth Geyer’s sensitive piano, flugelhorn and instrumental vocalizations, “A Journey of Dreams,” continues the beautiful and exotic flow of their previous releases. Adams said, “We wanted to focus on beauty, especially as the world seems to be in such deep chaos.” When referring to Geyer’s solo album projects, Bruce Lundvall of Blue Note Records called Elizabeth “A brilliant musician and songwriter.” For “A Journey Of Dreams,” Elizabeth says her intention was to create a place of safety and home. “Imagine a place where you once came from, where you will go back to, and a place you sometimes visit in dreams.”

With its exotic artistic nature and chill ethnic impressions, Adams describes the album as offering a bit of artistic and spiritual pragmatism. “It’s all right here on ‘circus Earth’ – from the heinous to the sublime. We felt a need to create something that might focus on the deep beauty we are all capable of. French-Brazilian Guitar Virtuoso Marcelo Paganini To Release Two Singles Digitally on November 20, 2024

If not now, then when? Just before celebrating his 60th anniversary, French-Brazilian guitar player, composer, producer and film-maker Marcelo Paganini will digitally release two singles on the 20th of November 2024.

The first single Marcelo Paganini will release is his short orchestral overture “Poder Paralelo”. It is just 49 bars. It lasts only about one minute. Perfect for the short attention span audience of the current times. It is the first movement of his first symphony “Belo Horizonte” that he wrote 20 years ago, when his friend Andre Dequech told him about a composition contest. Award nominee sound engineer John Chapman did the audio mixing in Hollywood, California, USA. Marcelo Paganini conducted by himself the Budapest Scoring Orchestra in Budapest, Hungary on October the 23rd for the recording. 3 cameras captured the performance and the video will also be released on the 20th of November. There will also be an “making of” short film documentary produced and directed by Marcelo Paganini that will be released next year on the film festival circuit.

Marcelo Paganini is still stepping on the clouds after coming back from Budapest: “I have never written for orchestra before, and I started with the most difficult part, the “tutti” when all the instruments play at once. I hired the great orchestrator Thomas Goss to mentor me in the process of making sure everything was correct and would sound right. Because it is easy to write something that sounds good on the computer but doesn’t translate well with a real orchestra. But Thomas Goss said he had very little to do, that it was great scoring. What he mostly did was transcribe my work and prepare all the scores for the session. With just one half an hour to record, I had to plan every detail in advance. Everybody at Budapest Scoring Orchestra is wonderful and very professional, they made the whole experience very smooth. Since I wrote the overture and knew it by heart, I could conduct without a score. This gave me the advantage to have my whole brain, both arms and eyes on the orchestra all the time.”

“To conduct is to ‘play’ the orchestra, the ultimate instrument,” explained Marcelo Paganini. “The orchestra became me, and I became the orchestra. The way all my body communicated my musical intentions to the 67 musicians was the most intense feeling I had in my life. I have never done that before. I was dreaming about doing it since I was a child and the first time I saw and heard an orchestra. I had never conducted an orchestra before, I was moved to tears when the orchestra applauded me at the end. I was not expecting that at all. Just look at the smile on the musician’s face, that is priceless. Forever in my heart. I hope Eumir Deodato will be proud of me. Now I am doing everything I can to go back to Budapest as soon as possible to record the rest of my symphony. There are two more movements, ‘Central Parque Municipal’ and ‘Nao sei contar’. 11 more minutes and 2 hours recording time with the orchestra. Marcelo Paganini Band (1998)

The second single to be released is the blues jazz bossa nova song “Sentir” (Marcelo Paganini) recorded live by the Marcelo Paganini Band featuring the Brazilian singer Catia Werneck at Divan du Monde in Paris, France on November the 27th 1998. Marcelo Paganini finally found the tapes in a box in his attic, decades later, after moving around way too many times. The band is: Marcelo Paganini on guitar, arrangements. Catia Werneck as a guest singer. Laurent de Oliveira on keys. Ze Luis Nascimento on percussion. Marc Madore on bass. Luiz Augusto Cavani on drums. Nicolas Gueret on tenor sax. Philippe Henry on trombone. And Christophe Dutray (RIP), who left us too soon a couple of years ago, on trumpet. Sound engineer Daniel Boivin did the audio mixing. There is a whole live album to be released in the future from that magical concert. Stay tuned.

John Lodge, legendary bass player, songwriter and vocalist of The Moody Blues, and Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, is to release an exciting new digital single “Love Will Conquer All” on November 15, 2024. The single will be the first from John’s new extended EP “Love Conquers All”, due for release on February 14, 2025, and the EP will be available on CD, Limited Edition 180g Violet Vinyl, and all streaming platforms.

“Love Will Conquer All” was written by John during his recent health challenges, suffering, as he put it, a ‘Christmas present he didn’t want’, a stroke. While he dealt with this personal adversity, and the immense challenge of the work involved to recover, he felt his creativity rising to create this heartwarming Christmas song. “Love Will Conquer All” is a song of love, renewal and healing, and John wanted to share it with everyone in the sincere hope that his journey might just help inspire others.

The song was written by John, and features John on vocals, lead guitar, bass guitar and acoustic guitar. Jon Davison, the singer of the progressive rock band YES, and John’s son-in-law, joins him on background vocals, provided the drums and rhythms, and also co-produced the track with John. Lead guitar is provided by Ray Nesbit, John’s Front of House Sound on tour, and also an incredible musician too. Finally, John asked his wife to join him on backing vocals, as at the heart of this song is his relationship with Kirsten, and their 56-year marriage… Love Will Conquer All.

“We all have our challenges in life, mine happened last Christmas… but like a phoenix this song appeared and helped me work through some of those difficult days. As I look forward to Christmas this year, I know it was love that got me through, and my Christmas wish for everyone is that they are surrounded with love (and great music) this year.”

The song will be released on November 15th to all streaming services, and will also be available as an instant gratification song from the accompanying EP.

The EP “Love Conquers All” will be released on February 14. 2025, and is a collection of deeply moving songs by The Moody Blues’ John Lodge. All written during difficult times yet reflecting the positive way in which John sees the world. As John explored his journey of healing, he invited different musicians to collaborate with him on each song, making each song unique, yet at the same time they all carry the same message… that love does conquer all.

“Love will Conquer All”, “Whispering Angels”, and “Sunset Over Cocohatchee Bay” were all written through personal health challenges, and “In These Crazy Times”, and “The Sun Will Shine”, originally written in lockdown, have been reimagined and remixed for 2024, reflecting how this time is now firmly in the past.

“Whispering Angels” was written by John and his son-in-law Jon Davison, of YES, and Jon features on all the tracks on the release. “Love Will Conquer All” is an almost Christmas song full of hope, plus there are guest appearances on the album by Geoff Downes of YES, Tim Maple, Dave Colquhoun, Ray Nesbit, John’s 10,000 Light Years Band, and also John’s wife, Kirsten and son, Kristian.

Madfish Music is delighted to announce the forthcoming release of “Still Barking” a highly anticipated CD/DVD box set of the Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band. This deluxe compilation will be on sale from today for release on 13 December 2024.

This major retrospective box set has been in the making for seven years. Band members Roger Ruskin Spear, “Legs” Larry Smith, Rodney Slater, Vernon Dudley Bowhay Nowell, Sam Spoons and Neil Innes were involved in defining the original concept. Titling the set “Still Barking” was very much Neil’s idea. Sadly, Neil, Sam and Vernon passed away before the set’s completion, but their involvement has been immeasurable.

Initial work on the box set was halted by a court case which the Bonzos eventually won. Madfish Music overcame numerous hurdles to clearing material, finding masters and sourcing unreleased material. Surviving and former band members contributed reminiscences and pithy tales and fans were invited to put forward their own memories and memorabilia.

The result of everyone’s hard work and dedication has culminated in two editions of the box set (see Editors’ notes for list of contents). The Standard Edition will feature 17 CDs and three DVDs plus a hardback coffee table book featuring a new essay by esteemed music journalist Chris Welch, archive writings, memorabilia and photographs, and a detailed chronology (cornology) of the band. The Special Edition release will also include a shellac 78 rpm record, an etched, one sided 7” single featuring a previously unreleased version of “Boo!,” reproductions of early promotional posters and booklets, plus an exclusive signed print of the box set artwork by artist Dan Abbott.

Formed in the early 1960s by art students Vivian Stanshall and Rodney Slater, the Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band began as a jazz ensemble parodying the music of the 1920s and 30s. Already proving they were a creative force, their art school training further encouraged them to think outside the box – twist the norm and mix genres. Elements of slapstick comedy, music hall, Mariachi flavors, psychedelia and bawdy seaside humor all conspired and inspired the growing band to evolve into a pioneering force in rock and comedy. Their satirical songs, surreal humor, eccentric and eclectic performances quickly made them a favorite on the London underground scene and secured them a permanent residence in the counterculture prevalent at the time.

Their appearances on the TV show “Do Not Adjust Your Set” gained them national fame and featured many of the songs that have become lifelong favorites of fans and critics alike. “I’m the Urban Spaceman,” became the band’s most successful UK hit produced by Paul McCartney under the pseudonym Apollo C. Vermouth.

“We know Bonzo’s fans will be excited about this release,” a spokesperson for Madfish Music explains. “In addition to remasters of the band’s original albums, we have sourced rare and previously unreleased outtakes, BBC Sessions, short films, vintage footage, live recordings and films of concerts in Europe and USA. This was a band that would leave an indelible mark not just on their fans but the music and comedy world.

Prog Duo The Vegetarians To Release New Album “Space Age Pagliacci”

The Vegetarians are a Swedish-American duo consisting of Hans Annellsson, composer & musician from Sweden, and composer & songwriter John Tabacco from Long Island, NY. Their eagerly anticipated new album, “Space Age Pagliacci”, is a semi-concept album about spacetime. Stylistically, the music is a mix of Prog Rock & Classic Rock, with some hints of Circus Music.

Says Hans, “There is a concept in the lyrics. They are all related to space and time in some way.” John elaborates, “A.I. is becoming a force to reckon with. This CD explores the existential threat A.I. proposes to humans. We also explore the hidden force behind “fear”, that being of an extraterrestrial influence. Truth is also an issue here. How can we trust anything? There is also some self-deprecating awareness of the absurdity of being alive in this dimension. The cover of the CD has a picture of the first A.I. robot (“Sophia” – an actual citizen now of Saudi Arabia) sitting – as a person (of unspecified gender in a protective space suit) serenades her. Not the warmest of relations. And that might be part of the A.I. / Human problem.”

Working together with several different singers such as John Tabacco, Robin Schell, John Crowe, Marc Mollan, John Marshall Gibbs and Napoleon Murphy Brock, the project started around 2000 as a vehicle for recording some prog covers of YES, Frank Zappa, King Crimson, Genesis, ELP, Adrian Belew, Peter Hammill etc. The prog covers can be found on the albums “Remustered & Remixed Salad” and “The Calling”.

Billy Sherwood said this about the song “The Calling”: “A good rocking version, well done boys.”

Adrian Belew had this to say about The Vegetarians version of his song “Dream Life,”: “Beautiful, I was really moved to hear your version, maybe I’m not forgotten after all.”

In support of the new album The Vegetarians hope to play The Zappanale Festival in Bad Doberman, Germany, again.

In closing the duo has this message to relay, “The message is learn to know thyself ‘Temet Nosce.’ And whatever you do – don’t let anyone get the best of you. You matter just as much as the next being.”

Hans Annellsson: Composer & musician from Sweden. On the Annellssongs label Hans has released both music in Swedish, with The Vegetarians in English, and some instrumental music. The instrumental music is available on the albums “A Pirate In Ambient Waters” & “Scenes & Takes”. A new instrumental album “Goodly Odd” will be released later this year. To support himself Hans works as a music teacher at Malmö International School. Being a massive Frank Zappa fan Hans got permission from Frank, before he went on his last tour, to release a Swedish version of “Penis Dimension.” That version can be found on an album called “Från A Till Ö” by Hans and Mats Öberg. Hans also recently produced Mats Öberg’s album “Frankful,” solo piano renditions of the music of Frank Zappa.

John Tabacco: American composer, singer songwriter, engineer, multi-instrumentalist, and graphic artist. He is co-founder of SA3 (a proprietary analog to digital conversion technology for sound and video) and has engineered /mixed and mastered music for the past 30 years.
