URIAH HEEP BASS PLAYER TREVOR BOLDER’S LEGACY ENHANCED BY POSTHUMOUS SOLO ALBUM SAIL THE RIVERS – OUT NOW!

Trevor Bolder was the bass player in Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars, Wishbone Ash and Uriah Heep, but passed away in 2013.  He left behind a solo album which had been mapped out and his friends and family have helped complete it as a labour of love in his memory.

The album features guest appearances by Uriah Heep bandmates Mick Box and Lee Kerslake (who passed away recently) and Wishbone Ash bandmate Laurie Wisefield along with Trevor’s friends.

The artwork on the album is by Ioannis who created the artwork for the last Uriah Heep albums Trevor played on.

Trevor’s widow Shelly Bolder shared these personal comments about the album: “Trevor would have been so proud. It was his dream to produce a solo album which he spent endless hours working so very hard on. Sadly, he did not get to complete this dream. With the magic of friends and family we can all enjoy his beautiful music which can now live on forever. If Trevor were with us, I believe he would have dedicated this to Lee Kerslake who brought so much fun into all our lives.”

The lead vocals on the album are shared between Trevor Bolder and Derk Gallagher who added: “When I heard how far Trevor had got with the album, I knew it had to be finished. His vision for the songs was there, so much was laid out, it just needed his friends and family to help complete it. Trev was with us in every recording session in spirit and this album is part of his legacy.”

The album contains previously unheard titles and Trevor’s own interpretations of tracks he’d given to Uriah Heep to record.

The album has been released on Bolder Records (via Cherry Red) which was named after Trevor’s father’s record shop, in yet another example the album being a family and friends project.  The album is available on CD for Christmas 2020 ahead of its release on streaming platforms in early 2021.

“The Phoenix Has Risen” represents the work of drummer/songwriter Mark Murdock whose previous works included Cymbalic Encounters (With Brand X musicians) and Empire (Peter Banks of YES) and most recently The New Empire “Second Lifetime” release on Forward Motion Records. Mark was also a guest on the YES 50th Anniversary tribute album by Dave Kerzner and Fernando Perdomo

“The Phoenix Has Risen” was composed and produced by Mark during the lockdown of 2020. Mark sites the Phoenix in the title as a symbol of hope in these pandemic times. Mark just happens to be from Phoenix, Arizona but now resides in Tokyo. The music leans more to the Prog side with hints of rock and pop embellished in it.

The 12 song CD features guest artists, not only including guitarist Fernando Perdomo, but veteran Prog drummer Ronald Howden of Nektar who guests on two songs, and bassist Alan Thomson, who played with John Martyn and currently the Martin Barres Band, U.K. vocalist Tim Pepper and Joe Berger lead guitar and more.

Mark not only composed all music and lyrics but all the keyboard tracks including orchestral sections.

Not only did Mr. Davey, best known as the former bass player for British space rock legends Hawkwind, launch a new album by his Hawkwind supergroup Hawkestrel, the adventurous Pioneers Of Space, but he also saw the release of a 4CD set of demos called Four-Track Mind as well as a 3CD set from Davey’s prog rock side project Pre-Med and even joined Danny B. Harvey’s rockabilly project Headcat 13 for an album! And now to top it all off, Davey has returned with a sleigh full of superb musical guests on an all-new Hawkestrel Christmas album! SpaceXmas includes performances by former Deep Purple vocalist Glenn Hughes, keyboard wizard Rick Wakeman, The Doors’ Robby Krieger plus Hawkwind alums Huw Lloyd-Langton, Nik Turner, and lots more who blaze their way through revamped versions of holiday favorites such as “We Three Kings,” “O Come All Ye Faithful” and “Silent Night” next to original compositions such as “It’s A Wonderful (Funny Old) Life” and the hilarious “Twelve Daze Of Drinxmas.”

Davey had this to share about the album, “My goal with this album was to turn Xmas songs into non-cheesy space rock pieces anyone could enjoy listening to. That was difficult enough, but in 110 degrees Fahrenheit in July/August and in the Californian high desert was kind of surreal. It turned out better than I expected…….Happy SpaceXmas!”

“Identity Crisis” is the new guitar virtuoso Marcelo Paganini prog rock jazz fusion album to be released on his birthday December 11, 2020. The album features special guests Billy Sherwood (YES/ASIA), Adam Holzman (Steve Wilson Band), Rachel Flowers, Lenny White (Return to Forever), Chad Wackerman (Frank Zappa Band), Jan Dumée (Focus), Marc Madoré, Karla Downey, Jamison Smeltz, Damilton Viana, Esdras Ferreira and Adriano Campagnani (Beto Guedes Band). 5 out of 6 songs of the album were mixed and mastered by Gudjon Sveinsson in Iceland. The single “Circus is empty” was mixed by Daniel Boivin in France and mastered by Maor Appelbaum in LA, California, USA.

“When Allan Holdsworth passed away all of a sudden it was up to me and the others to keep guitar composition and playing moving forward. ‘Do your own thing’ he said every time we met. Now Eddie Van Halen passed away as well and we realize how hard it will be,” remembers Marcelo Paganini about his intentions when he started this project. “I changed the tuning of the guitar so I could not repeat anything I knew before. I decided to only use in the whole album, except for acoustic 12 string intros, the black guitar X-Ing Ibanez, no vibrato bar, bare bones. And to record just one guitar per track, to be able to play it live and sound like the album, or better. When live concerts will come back.”

The music on “Identity Crisis” mixes up the best influences from classic prog rock, with unexpected contemporary harmonic solutions and melodic turns. The songs can break loose by surprise in furious jazz fusion improvisations. As impressive as the casting in the album can be, and it is, the incredible alchemy that happened between Marcelo Paganini and Rachel Flowers in 4 out of 6 songs,  at the 11th hour, was a game changer in the intensity of that musical language. Mr Bowler Music Agency in the Netherlands is booking Marcelo Paganini Band featuring Rachel Flowers.

Fashion was a British new wave band, primarily active from 1978-1984, with a brief revival in 2009. They began as a post-punk band, before developing into a new wave/synthpop ensemble that placed three singles on the lower reaches of the UK charts in 1982-84.

The band started in ‘79 as a punk band and went through various changes until 1981 when they reformed again with members being John Mulligan, Dave (De) Harris, Dik Davis and Martin Recchi.

This period was a complete change of direction musically and led to Fashion’s second album known as “Fabrique”. The band signed an international recording contract with Arista Records in 1982 and decided on Zeus B. Held to be their producer, a well known Krautrock musician & underground dance producer famed at the time for his work with Gina X. The album became a European product being written and recorded in Koln, Paris and London over a six-month period.

On release it went straight in at No. 10 in the British charts, by this time Fashion had started touring the album in Europe and gigs in the USA. On return to the UK Dave Harris left the band and “Fabrique” became a collector’s item. The album included the UK hit singles “Streetplayer (Mechanik)”, which reached No. 46 in April 1982 and “Love Shadow”, which peaked at No. 51 in August of the same year. The track “Whitestuff” was featured in the television show Miami Vice’s two-hour season 2 opener. “Prodigal Son” and “You Only Left Your Picture” were featured in another episode. The album was re-released with additional material in 2004 as “The Height Of Fashion”.

Only through social media did they realize that there was a large fan base out there, still playing the album and cassette. The cassette had the full album on the A side and dance mixes of tracks on the B side. This was pretty well a first.

So this new release “Fabrique Deluxe” will be a one off, every single track and version that was recorded for the “Fabrique” album has been digitized and split over 3 CDs, the 4th CD being the tracks from Dave and Zeus’s Birmingham gig on September 24th 2019. These are 7 of the original “Fabrique” tracks re-edited into extended Dance mixes, all containing new overdubs and a taste into what “Fabrique Global” might sound like.

Hopefully this will be the end of “Fabrique” as far as releases go, there is no more….
