Multi-instrumentalist Matt Dorsey To Release New Progressive-Pop-Rock Album “Let Go” Feat. Marco Minnemann and Dave Kerzner

For Immediate Release

Multi-instrumentalist Matt Dorsey To Release New Progressive-Pop-Rock Album “Let Go” Feat. Marco Minnemann and Dave Kerzner

“Let Go” is a new collection of songs written and recorded by multi-instrumentalist Matt Dorsey. Stylistically it stands as a blend of all the artists and bands that influenced him including, Rush, Yes, Genesis, Pink Floyd, XTC, The Police, Peter Gabriel, Steely Dan and more. It can be described as progressive-pop-rock. On it Matt sings and plays guitars, bass, keyboards, percussion and, on two of the songs, the drums. Marco Minnemann provides drums on three tracks and Jonathan Mover on another three. Dave Kerzner performs a keyboard solo that he wrote for one of the songs.

Says Matt, “‘Let Go’ is a collection of songs that cover many aspects of life. I studied philosophy in college and the first song I wrote following my studies was MAN, which is something of a summary of the human condition and a celebration of the mystery and miracle of human existence. Following my college days, I shifted my focus from western to eastern philosophy and you can hear a sense of that influence in the song Echo which expresses a deep connection with all living things. ‘Let Go,’ too, is a reflection of the eastern philosophical tradition expressing a sort of taoist disposition toward the flow of things and a zen-like non-attachment. Waiting for the Fall and Castles Made of Sand are a bit darker, expressing a more existential despair, the one about perpetual failure and the other about the fleeting nature of time. But, to round the album out, Compromise, Dangerous and Impossible Friends are more straight-forward love songs. Life is many things. Art should reflect that. ‘Let Go’ is an album about the philosophy of life.”

The album contains 8 tracks recorded almost entirely at Matt’s home studio in Orange County, except for the drum tracks provided by Minnemann and Mover, and the keyboard solo by Kerzner. The album was mixed by Matt and mastered by Andy VanDette. The album artwork was created by Ed Unitsky.

Matt Dorsey is a singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist from Orange County, CA. Best known as a founding member of Sound of Contact he has also played with Beth Hart, Dave Kerzner, In Continuum, and most recently with the all-star progressive rock cover band ProgJect.

Says Matt, “I hope those who listen to my music actually get something meaningful or useful out of it, even if it’s just the enjoyment of the rhythms and melodies or the tapping of the foot. If one gleans anything more deeply significant, all the better. If I’m honest, I write and play music entirely for the sheer joy of it. I guess that’s a bit selfish to say. That said, I know there is power in music, to be sure, and it can move people in very potent ways. I feel privileged to be a part of that. I guess to sum it up my message is simply, life is extraordinary and we would do well to look longer and more carefully at it.”

Lauded French songwriter Alan Simon (several gold and platinum discs, “Excalibur,” Roger Hodgson, Midnight Oil, The Moody Blues, Alan Parsons…) is releasing his second film on February 8, 2023. (after “O Genghis” with Jean Reno & Omar Sharif in 2005)

“Monsieur Constant” is a film particularly sensitive since it speaks of a man who cannot forget the love of his life who tragically disappeared 50 years earlier! The film highlights four characters who meet for the fiftieth anniversary of the disappearance of Natalia, incarnation of grace and beauty: She who was once nicknamed “the star of Siberia.”

Alan Simon wrote the screenplay, the direction and the music. The symphonic themes are arranged and conducted by Lee Holdridge (to whom we owe the masterpiece Jonathan Livingston Seagull alongside Neil Diamond)

The soundtrack, featuring Supertramp’s Jesse Siebenberg and including 20 original titles, is available now on the Babaika productions label. The film will first be released in Europe by the 8th of February 2023, Alan hopes to find a distributor in the UK and US market by 2023.

Zappa Alumni Mike Keneally To Release New Album “The Thing That Knowledge Can’t Eat” feat. Steve Vai, Eric Slick, Nick D’Virgilio and others!

For Immediate Release

Zappa Alumni Mike Keneally To Release New Album “The Thing That Knowledge Can’t Eat” feat. Steve Vai, Eric Slick, Nick D’Virgilio and others!

Frank Zappa alumni Mike Keneally will be releasing his new solo album “The Thing That Knowledge Can’t Eat” on Feb. 24, 2023. Pre-orders are available NOW at store.keneally.com. The eagerly awaited release features guest appearances by Steve Vai, Eric Slick, Nick D’Virgilio and others.

Says Mike, “This is my first new solo album in seven years – the last one was ‘Scambot 2’ in 2016, so this one has really been a long time coming. About half of the material on the new album was in the works prior to the pandemic, but the other half was created at home in lockdown in 2020 and 2021, and all the finishing touches were placed on the songs during 2022, so it’s been in the works for a while. I’ve never done so much work on an album on my own, so the learning curve was steep, but I did have help from friends all along the way, including farming out tracks to drummers who were also locked down at home. I wrote all the songs, and the lyrics of the later songs definitely reflect the strange times during which the album was finalized. A lot of my past albums have been lengthy, extended works, but this one is a tight 42 minutes, nine songs – I think it goes down pretty smooth but it travels to a lot of different places along the way. I’m extremely happy with it, and very grateful to finally be able to share it with everyone.”

Keneally is the leading progressive rock genius of the post-Zappa era.” – All Music Guide

Long acclaimed as one of the world’s most creative and intense guitar and keyboard players, Mike Keneally’s talents as a vocalist, songwriter, arranger, producer and multi-instrumentalist are nearly unequalled in rock music. Keneally has released over 30 albums of his original music since 1992 (including special editions and limited releases), and has built a body of work of remarkable inventiveness and originality. The stylistic variety present in his work indicates Keneally’s abiding love of good music above all, regardless of genre distinctions.

Keneally played in Frank Zappa’s final touring band in 1988, performing as a vocalist, guitarist and keyboardist. He’s appeared on many of Zappa’s albums, and has been a touring and recording member in the bands of Joe Satriani, Steve Vai and Devin Townsend, as well as a member of the Adult Swim metal band Dethklok. He has also recorded or performed with Robert Fripp, Wayne Kramer, Kevin Gilbert, Solomon Burke, Steve Vai, Chickenfoot, Bear McCreary, Henry Kaiser, Michael Manring, Screamin’ Jay Hawkins, Andy Prieboy, Mullmuzzler, The Persuasions and many others.

Known for his innovative, unpredictable live shows with his own band Mike Keneally & Beer For Dolphins, Keneally has played extensively in the United States and Europe, in contexts ranging from solo and duo concerts, to performances with large-scale orchestras. His 52-minute orchestra-with-guitar suite “The Universe Will Provide” received its world premiere in 2003, featuring Keneally as guitar soloist fronting Holland’s Metropole Orkest. The US premiere of “Universe” occurred at the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles in 2011. 2012’s album release was “Wing Beat Fantastic: Songs Written by Mike Keneally & Andy Partridge,” a collection of material written with ex-XTC leader Andy Partridge; the album was widely acclaimed, and ranked highly on numerous critics’ “Best of 2012” lists. 2016 saw the release of his grand conceptual work “Scambot 2,” and was the last new Keneally solo album until now, with the upcoming February 2023 release of the brand new “The Thing That Knowledge Can’t Eat.”

As of late, Keneally has been performing live with other ex-Zappa alumni as part of The Zappa Band, the only official Zappa Trust-sanctioned band playing the music of Frank Zappa live. He has also been playing with the group ProgJect, performing many of the classic ‘70s progressive-rock songs that Keneally grew up loving. He is also a member of a new band called The Bird Brain, who released an acclaimed 3-song EP late in 2022, with more new music coming this year. With the release of his new solo album in 2023, Mike will be doing a series of Mike Keneally & Beer For Dolphins shows this year featuring a retrospective selection of material chosen from all the primary solo albums across his over-30 year career.

Pantomime Legend Marcel Marceau Honored By Centenary Celebration Exhibit and Publication of New Edition of ‘Marcel Marceau: Master of Mime’ Book

For Immediate Release

Pantomime Legend Marcel Marceau Honored By Centenary Celebration Exhibit and Publication of New Edition of Marcel Marceau: Master of Mime Book

THE NATIONAL ARTS CLUB — MARCH 9 through APRIL 28, 2023

The National Arts Club celebrates the centenary of the birth of the world’s most famous mime, Marcel Marceau, with an exhibition of photographs taken by Time/Life photographer Ben Martin. The exhibit, which is open to the public and free, will take place from March 9th to April 28 in conjunction with the publication of a new edition of Marcel Marceau: Master of Mime, a photojournalist’s view of the legendary artist as performer and friend. Begun as a Life magazine pictorial in the mid-1970s, their artistic collaboration produced an intense, intimate portrait of the mime whose stage creation, a white-faced clown in bell-bottom pants, sailor’s pullover and crumpled flower opera hat, continued a century old tradition. In more than 350 photographs, 80 in exquisite color, Martin captures Marceau behind the scenes, rehearsing, applying makeup, and performing. In a series of performance photos, he shows the artist conveying his miraculous emotional range as Bip, his onstage alter ego.

Cumberland Press will publish the revised edition of this intimate photographic portrait with a personal foreword by Anne Sicco, the mime’s widow, and an afterword by Robert Pledge, a close friend and associate of both Marceau and Martin.

To launch the centenary celebration, The National Arts Club will host a reception for Marceau’s friends and admirers, on March 20, 2023, at 15 Gramercy Park South, New York, NY 10003. Anne Sicco will be in attendance representing the Marceau family.

Marcel Marceau: Born Marcel Mangel in Strasbourg, France, on March 23, 1923, Marceau referred to mime as the “art of silence,” an art that he performed professionally worldwide for over 60 years. As a Jewish youth, he lived in hiding and worked with the French Resistance against the Nazi occupiers during World War II together with his daring older brother, Simon Alain Mangel. Marceau gave his first major performance to 3,000 allied troops after the liberation of Paris in August 1944. Following the war, he studied dramatic art and mime in Paris where, in 1959, he established his own pantomime school. In 1956, he won an Emmy Award, and in 1991 was elected to the venerable Institut de France as a member of the Académie des Beaux Arts. In 1998, he was made Grand Officier de la Légion d’Honneur and awarded the National Order of Merit in France. In 2002, the celebrated mime became the eleventh recipient of The Raoul Wallenberg Medal.

Ben Martin covered wars, fashion, politics, arts, business and sports for Time, Life, Fortune, People and Sports Illustrated for 33 years. He covered Martin Luther King’s Selma March, the first Nixon-Kennedy Presidential debate, Fidel Castro in Cuba and “Swinging London,” capturing “evocative images that defined the 1960s,” according to the New York Times. Martin’s photographic archive has been donated to the Briscoe Center at the University of Texas, Austin.

Marcel Marceau and Ben Martin – photo by Ben Martin

Kathryn Leigh Scott, Ben Martin’s wife of many years and publishing partner until his death, dreamed of reissuing the book. “Marcel offered to write an Introduction to a new edition, but passed away before we could make it happen. The dream was reawakened in early 2018 when I got in touch with Anne Sicco, Marcel’s widow. The two of us began discussing the possibility of an exhibit of the photographs and a new edition of the book to commemorate the centenary of Marceau’s birth, March 22, 2023. For us, it’s a tribute that honors the legacies of both men and their artistic collaboration”

Kathryn Leigh Scott is an author and actress who has written the novels September Girl, Jinxed, Down and Out in Beverly Heels and Dark Passages. Nonfiction includes the Lobby Card books on film art, Last Dance at the Savoy, The Bunny Years and a trilogy of books on caregiving: Now With You, Now Without, The Happy Hours and A Welcome Respite. She played Maggie Evans/Josette DuPres in the original Dark Shadows, and appears in feature films The Eleventh Green, Three Christs and A Rainy Day in New York. Brian Tarquin & Heavy Friends To Release “Brothers In Arms” Feat. Joe Satriani, Members of UFO, Guns N’ Roses, Dokken, Coheed & Cambria, Armored Saint & Others!

From the producer of the acclaimed release “Guitars For Wounded Warriors” comes a brand new extraordinary album entitled “Brothers In Arms”! Multi-Emmy award winning guitarist/composer Brian Tarquin is the mastermind behind it, featuring such iconic guitarists as Joe Satriani, Vinnie Moore (UFO), Ron ‘Bumblefoot’ Thal (Guns N’ Roses), Alex De Rosso (Dokken), Travis Stever (Coheed & Cambria), Jeff Duncan (Armored Saint), Johannes Weik (Son of a Bach), Gerald Gradwohl (Tangerine Dream), Chris Haskett (Henry Rollins Band). The album features exclusive songs inspired by those military soldiers who have fought for their country. Partial proceeds from the sales go to the Fisher House Foundation, http://fisherhouse.org who supplies housing to veterans’ families while they are hospitalized.

Vintage Guitar Magazine says about Brian Tarquin & Heavy Friends “Brothers In Arms”: “The players here are staggeringly skilled and the tunes are new and vibrant. Each cut has something new and adventurous to add to our listening experience. Guitarists should be in heaven with this one, as it is definitely good to the last drop.”

For the past 30 years multi-Emmy award winning composer/guitarist Brian Tarquin’s music has been heard by tens of millions on a plethora of television and film scores such as: CSI, Ellen, Extra, TMZ, 60 Minutes, Sex and the City, SNL, Godzilla, Seinfeld, Cheers, Charmed, The Watcher (Keanu Reeves), Desert Heat (Van Damme), The Sender (R. Lee Ermey) to name a few. He has won 3 Emmys for “Outstanding Achievement in Music Direction and Composition for a Drama Series” and has been nominated for an Emmy 6 times. In 2022 the Josie Music Awards nominated Tarquin for “Best Guitarist” & “Best Producer” of the year. In 2019 Tarquin received a Global Music Gold Award for his release Orlando In Heaven for “Best Album.” Three years in a row (2016-2019) Tarquin received “Best Album of the Year” nominations from the Independent Music Awards for his releases: “Guitars for Wounded Warriors,” “Orlando in Heaven,” and “Guitars for Veterans.” Tarquin has graced the top Billboard charts with such commercial releases as: “This is Acid Jazz, Vol. 2,” “Sweet Emotions,” and “Bossa Brava: Caliente” on Instinct Records, followed by several solo jazz albums which charted Top 10 at Smooth Jazz Radio R&R and Gavin charts with such hits as “One Arabian Knight”, “Freeway Jam”, “Darlin Darlin Baby” and Tangled Web. Tarquin has appeared on 50 releases, selling over 140,000 records in his career with over 34 million streams on Spotify, Pandora & Apple.

Says Brian, “It was a great experience to record the album featuring such great musicians. I recorded and produced it entirely at my recording facility called Jungle Room Studios. It is an extensive analog/digital studio featuring a modified classic 1980’s British Trident 24 recording console, an Otari MTR 90 2” analog tape machine, and a vintage Ampex 440c 1/4” 2 track analog tape machine. Along with classic outboard gear such as, the Neve Compressor 33609, Rupert Neve Designs Portico II Master Buss Processor, Neve 1074, Chandler ltd Germanium Compressor, and a host of other gear including an array of microphones, guitars & amplifiers. I love working in the analog domain because it sounds just like the records I grew up with in the 60’s and 70’s, nothing sounds like drums and bass on analog tape! I even recorded final mixes down to 1/4” tape and the mastering was done by David Glasser at Airshow Studios in Boulder, Colorado from those 1/4” tapes. No copy & paste, real performances from the heart!”

Sounds Great! I’m honored to play a solo on the track ‘Speed of Sound,’ and to be a part of the ‘Brothers in Arms’ album. Brian is a very prolific writer, cheers to him!” – Joe Satriani

It was a lot of fun playing on ‘Kiss My Axe.’ Very cool to be on Brian’s record with so many amazing players. Loved laying down some licks over this groovy burnin’ song.” – Vinnie Moore

It’s a great honor to be part of this album, in support of our beloved veterans and their families. They deserve the very best.” – Ron ‘Bumblefoot’ Thal (Guns N’ Roses, Asia, Sons Of Apollo)

UNQUIET MUSIC LTD To Release Second Single “I Do Remember the Feeling” Feat. Members of Lifesigns, Stick Men and Roberto Fonseca’s band on December 25th!

From forthcoming album “MEMEmusic” featuring, Jon Poole (Cardiacs, Lifesigns), Markus Reuter (Stick Men) and trumpet extraordinaire Thommy Lowry (Roberto Fonseca)

On December 25, 2022 Unquiet Music Ltd release their second single, “I Do Remember The Feeling” – a new taste of their second album “MEMEmusic”.

Unquiet Music Ltd’s 2020 debut album, “In the Name of… (A Prayer for our Times)”, was an arresting and hypnotic mix of contemporary classical structures, urgent solo and choral voices, and electric art-rock sonority. An abstracted electronic Mass, it merged Messaien-ic detail and depth with needle-like mechanistic precision and a hallucinatory atmosphere. Two years on, “I Do Remember the Feeling” illustrates the next step for Unquiet Music: avant-garde pop reflections on human connection and communication, more song-based and lyrical.

“I Do Remember the Feeling” vividly embodies this change in approach. An off-kilter love song, dancing complexity around simplicity in ever-broadening arcs, it merges twitchy narrative verses with romantic choruses full of ebullient strings, Caribbean trumpet and remembered jazz memes. Memories peppered with signature tunes but alive with their own nervy melodies. This time, imagine Mick Karn and Gentle Giant sitting in at a bustling Havana jazz club. Or perhaps Frank Zappa, but a Frank stripped entirely of his cynicism: dancing with a rose in his teeth and a wicked loving glint in his eye, but with his love of sudden musical shifts and roguish key jumps as intact as ever. All of this is put together with project leader JP Rossi’s usual attention to fine detail, classical rigour and urgent austerity… this time, though, with an excited romantic heart straining hard against his ribs.

There’s a true story behind it, too, drawn from JP’s own life:

I was commissioned to make the music for a theater play. My future wife had the main role in it and it was the first time that I met her. The play was a strange one, traversing the history of mankind and promoting an idealistic “peace and love” mood. When I first visited the theatre, she was onstage in a fairy dress, holding a sword. Well, the sword was blade-down and she had her hands laying on it in front of her. We exchanged looks, and that was the start.

Later on, we were having dinner at a restaurant called Chez Alcide and we started talking and exchanging. We realized that there was absolutely no limit to the depth of our exchanges other than that which we would put onto it ourselves – but neither of us stopped. That is the process of falling in love, I suppose. It’s the one moment of absolute feeling in my life that I will always remember. It built me, if you like. It made me realize not just that I was in connection with one person but eventually, and by extension, with my species and beyond that. Forever.”

“I Do Remember the Feeling” comes with a bonus track, “Epidemics”, which displays Unquiet Music Ltd’s more familiar instrumental side. Hanging, tinkling percussion sounds give way to hither-and-yon pitched voices, whistles and drum beats – something which nudges at memories of Henry Cow; of the orchestral end of Rock in Opposition; of the Canterbury meanders; but which also keeps up Unquiet Music Ltd’s deeper connection with European and American avant-garde classical movements, reaching back into the twentieth century and forward into the twenty-first.

About the new album:

A pretty ‘out there’ album… Jean-Philippe Rossi writes and constructs the stuff in a very unique and unorthodox manner. It was a fun project to contribute to in that it was so different to anything else I’ve ever worked on.” – Jon Poole (no stranger to “out there” albums) on contributing to “Meme/Music”

One of the most extravagant and unusual albums I’ve mixed this year! I love this great album! JP Rossi writes and sings things that manage to reconcile my need to hear new things without losing my deepest roots.” – Stefano Castagna / Ritmo&Blu studios

For Immediate Release

Re-releases of Jon Symon’s Warlock Two Studio Albums, Recorded with Members of the German Krautrock Legends JANE, “Memories of a White Magician” and “Lady Macbeth” OUT NOW!

John Symon was known as a one-man band called Rasputin and he toured throughout Germany and Austria and also appeared on several TV shows.  He released a couple of singles before, in the 80s, becoming better known for his Warlock musical works.

These (re-mastered) editions are the first time the albums have been available on CD and digitally.

The “Memories of a White Magician” studio album was recorded twice, once in 1981 and then again in 1983 and this edition includes both versions of the album. The highlight of the 1983 album’s release was the performance in front of 7000 people in Berlin’s International Congress Centre.

“Lady Macbeth” was originally released a year after the first album and this edition features the 1984 non-album single of the title track which now appears in its rightful place in the score.

Joining Jon Symon on the releases are members of the German band JANE including Peter Panka, Werner Nadolny, Detlef Klamann, Charly Maucher, Edu Wahlmann and Bernd Klamann.
