Legendary Electric Double Violin, Vocal Master L. Shankar To Release New Album “Answers” October 17, 2025

For Immediate Release

Legendary Electric Double Violin, Vocal Master L. Shankar To Release New Album Answers October 17, 2025

L. Shankar’s latest star-studded pop-rock album, Answers, is a collection of undeniably replay-worthy tracks that lead listeners through life’s biggest questions and truths. Released by SRI MUSIC INC, each song reflects a different facet of the human experience—from searching for meaning to rediscovering strength and innocence. The record comes to life through an extraordinary lineup of musicians, including legendary bassist Tony Levin, guitarist Josh Lopez, keyboardists Dave Palmer, Zac Baird, and Dileep, along with powerhouse drummers Stephen Perkins and Scott Seiver, guest vocalist Juliett Rose, and percussionist Jeff Gross. With heartfelt songwriting and world-class musicianship, Answers is crafted to be experienced as a complete album from beginning to end, with music that lingers long after it ends. The album will be released worldwide on all major streaming platforms on October 17, 2025.

From a musical standpoint, Answers is shaped by a core group of progressive rock musicians—some of whom Shankar has worked with over 35 years ago. Their depth, emotion, and range allowed him to write songs that explore different moods and messages while showcasing their incredible talents.

The album Answers is a journey, with each track reflecting an experience we all face in life. It opens with “Answers,” a reminder that the truths we spend so much time searching for are often already within us. From there, “Lot of Things” confronts the lies we’ve been told—about ourselves, about life, or whispered behind our backs—something most people can relate to. Then comes “Innocent,” reminding us that we’re all born pure, but as we grow up, the world and the people around us influence us—but that innocence is still somewhere inside. “Heaven & Earth” is one I wrote years ago, after the 2004 tsunami—it’s a tribute to the lives lost and how small we are compared to the forces of nature. “Power Within” is about realizing we already have strength inside us—we just need to tap into it to reach our full potential. “For You” is a softer ballad, reminding us to appreciate the ones we love, whether it’s a special person, a friend, or even a pet. “To Live” asks the question—if today was your last day, what would you do? It’s a reminder to live with love and intention, because life is precious. “Calm Down” is about staying grounded even when things around you feel out of control. Life throws a lot of curve balls at us, but we have to keep our peace and not let it break us. The album closes with “Thinking,” dedicated to the special people who live in our hearts, even if they’re not with us. Taken as a whole, Answers move from confusion and outside noise to clarity and self-awareness—a complete cycle, from questions to answers.

Says Shankar, “This album is not just about my personal journey—it’s something many can relate to. I mentor a lot of people, and I often hear about their struggles and challenges. Answers reflect those shared experiences and offer resilience, perspective, and hope. It’s about how we move forward, how we rise, and how we ultimately find the answers within ourselves.”

L. Shankar describes the recording process for Answers: “The songwriting for Answers came very naturally—it’s something I can do anywhere. Whether I’m on a plane, stuck in traffic, walking, or just watching birds fly across the sky, inspiration can strike at any moment. For me, it’s a discipline more than a process. I wrote these songs across different parts of the world—Los Angeles, Malaysia, and Goa, India—and once I had the core ideas, I’d lay down the basic structure: the chords, the rough vocals, and a reference beat. I’m a drummer at heart, so rhythm is a big part of how I write. I usually start with the beat, which guides the syncopation and feel of the track.

“After building the foundation for this album, I let the musicians record their parts remotely in their own studios after explaining the feel for it. They’d send me their recordings, and if I needed to adjust or change anything, I’d send it back. It was a back-and-forth that allowed a lot of creative freedom while keeping the vision clear.

“I was fortunate to work with some incredible talent. Tony Levin played on every track—he’s a legendary bassist and someone I’ve worked with on Peter Gabriel’s tours, his solo projects, and my previous solo works. I’d send him the full arrangement, and he’d send back these beautifully nuanced bass lines that always elevate the track. On drums, I brought in Stephen Perkins ( Jane’s Addiction )—an amazing drummer with a great feel, one of the finest in  rock. Josh Lopez ( Black Eyed Peas ), an incredible guitarist from Los Angeles, also played on Chepleeri Dream, and I knew I had to bring him back. He also helped connect me with more players for this album.

“I ended up using three keyboardists. Besides Dileep, my long-time excellent keyboardist and engineer, I brought in Zac Baird, who I first met when we toured with Jonathan Davis’s solo band around 2006–2007. Zac was also in my band opening up for Jonathan Davis. He played on three tracks before heading out on tour with Beyoncé. After that, Dave Palmer stepped in—another fantastic keyboardist based in L.A., and a friend of Josh’s. Dave played on six or seven tracks and brought his own sensitivity and feel to the music.

“Drums were also handled by Scott Seiver, another incredible musician. I’d send him the tracks along with reference beats, and he would build from there. Because I write to the beat, I always make sure the groove is strong—it sets the tone for everything.

“Once all the parts were recorded, I tracked my final vocals and double violin in my studio in Malaysia. The album was then mixed and mastered in Los Angeles by the incredibly talented Jeff Gross, an award-winning engineer who really brought everything together with clarity and depth. Jeff has worked with me on the last 6 albums.

“This is a special album from my heart—it’s filled with songs that deal with a range of emotions and experiences people can truly relate to. In times like these, where the world feels uncertain and heavy with conflict, I feel like music like this can uplift, inspire and unite people. I’m really thrilled and proud of Answers—it’s honest, emotional, and deeply meaningful to me.”

My friend Shenkar is a legendary musician. An extraordinary vocalist, violinist and composer. I always had a great time working with him on Queen of the Damned, my 2 solo albums, my solo world tours and his solo albums.” – Jonathan Davis (Korn)

My friend Shankar is an exceptional musician, and it’s been a pleasure to work with him both on his own music and Peter Gabriel’s.” – Tony Levin

Working with L. Shankar has been a great experience. His compositions are very enjoyable to play, and his arrangements are always very interesting. I am very grateful and humbled to be part of this.” – Chester Thompson

“L.Shankar, an acclaimed virtuoso violinist, singer, composer and producer who has sold over ten million albums, is a musical pioneer. He embraces with equal ease three idioms of music: Indian classical, world music and pop/rock” – Hinduism Today

“Grandmaster vocalist and violinist, L. Shankar…considered a living legend, has awed and delighted audiences all over the world live and with his albums” – Celebrity Zones

“Shankar’s music is rich & melodic…” SPIN Magazine

“Two Shankars, one Ravi Shankar and one L.Shankar are probably the best known Indian names in world music. One familiarised the Hindustani sitar, the other took Carnatic raga music through his double violin and voice to every known idiom from classical, to rock and roll, to jazz to EDM creating music that defies definition.” — Times of India

“His solo albums have always drawn not only enormous interest from fans and critics alike but also showcase the collaborative spirit that is integral to Shankar’s art.” – All About Jazz

“In Shankar we encounter extraordinary virtuosity, brilliance of tone, and a fiery radiance of spirit.” – Raves the Record Review

L. Shankar (aka Shenkar) is widely celebrated as a musical genius and legend by his peers, who hold him in the highest esteem. A child prodigy and virtuoso, he is regarded as one of the pioneers of East-West music, enthralling audiences and critics alike all over the world. As an international touring artist with a career spanning decades, Shankar has sold over 100 million albums and achieved international acclaim through his award-winning solo projects and collaborations with legendary artists including Frank Zappa, Peter Gabriel, Phil Collins, Bruce Springsteen, Sting, Michael Jackson, Madonna and numerous esteemed musicians worldwide. Since 1980, Shankar has been using his invention – a 10-string stereophonic double violin—known as the LSD (L. Shankar Double violin)—which he designed to cover the full range of the orchestral string family. His innovative and complex pallavis, featuring unique rhythmic cycles, that he popularized over decades through his critically acclaimed solo albums on ECM Records, have now been adopted by others.

In addition to his classical work, Shankar has released globally acclaimed pop, rock, and EDM albums, and worked on numerous soundtracks for award-winning films, documentaries, and TV series—including The Last Temptation of Christ, The Passion of the Christ, and the hit TV series Heroes. He has released 28 solo albums, the latest being Full Moon and Over the Stars, both released in 2024.

Shankar currently resides in Los Angeles, Malaysia and Goa, India in between tours.

L. Shankar also has an extensive tour schedule — he will be touring India from November to February, followed by tours in the United States, Europe, Australia. Says Shankar, “In between tours, I travel with a mobile studio, so I’m able to record wherever I am — I’m constantly on the move, creating and recording.”

In closing, L. Shankar has this to impart: “I want listeners to free their minds—don’t come in with any preconceived ideas. This album is like a story, and I see myself as the director, guiding the flow of emotion and experience. It continues in the same spirit as my previous album Chepleeri Dream, but Answers goes even deeper and further exploring a wider range of emotions and life situations. The lyrics play a big part in that. I always encourage people to read or follow the lyrics as they listen, because they help you connect with what I was feeling when I wrote the songs. That said, I know everyone will interpret the music in their own way—and that’s a beautiful thing. These songs are like life lessons, and I hope they resonate with whatever journey you’re on.”

Bio:

SYRINX – Heavy moods. Hard grooves. Progressive fire from the fringe.

Born in the shadows of a slanted farmhouse outside Vancouver, SYRINX is a heavy metal/progressive rock collective led by guitarist, producer, Graham McGee. Known for their theatrical flair and cerebral songwriting, the band delivers a fresh and unique blend of oldschool heavymetal and classic prog wizardry — echoing the likes of Rush, Genesis, Fates Warning, Queensrÿche, and Judas Priest.

SYRINX began over a decade ago when McGee met powerhouse vocalist Jean-Pierre Abboud (JP) during a wild 30-date Canadian tour with their former band Funeral Circle. When that group folded, the two set their sights on a more expansive sonic path — moving away from gothic and occult themes into deeper, more musically daring territory. From this shift, SYRINX emerged. After their first two releases in 2019 and 2020, SYRINX went dormant as McGee battled a severe case of Lyme disease, stepping away from music entirely. But the silence didn’t last. Returning with renewed fire, McGee unexpectedly linked up with drummer Seth Lyon—whose precision, creativity, and shared love of odd time signatures (and black coffee… and Rush) sparked an instant chemistry. In the foothills of the Pacific West Coast mountains, SYRINX breathed again.

Their upcoming sophomore LP Time Out of Place was nearly derailed just weeks before recording when their bassist unexpectedly left the band. But rather than crumble, the band saw it as an opportunity. Enter Bobby Shock — a multi-instrumentalist from New Jersey who slid effortlessly into the SYRINX groove and smashed it out of the park on incredibly short notice. A fully aligned creative energy, Bobby is SYRINX in every way — and his presence elevated the album to a whole new level.

The band’s lineup now includes Graham McGee (guitar/synths), JP (vocals), Seth Lyon (drums), and Bobby Shock (bass/synth), with supporting vocals from Lady Chanelle, McGee’s wife a gifted vocalist whose harmonies add dimension and grace to the band’s already diverse sound. McGee and Shock also both wield Moog Taurus pedals and synths live, giving the band a crushing live presence rarely matched on modern stages!

Despite being spread across Vancouver, Denver, and New Jersey, the members work with focused intensity whenever they’re physically together.

This fall, SYRINX returns with a new album. music videos, a limited vinyl/cd release plus live performances and festival announcements.

Celebrate The 7th Annual Joey Stuckey Alive Day Music Festival Macon, GA – October 4, 2025

For Immediate Release

Celebrate The 7th Annual Joey Stuckey Alive Day Music Festival Macon, GA – October 4, 2025

The 7th Annual Joey Stuckey Alive Day is set to take place Saturday, October 4, 2025, at the Mill Hill Community Arts Center at 213 Clinton Street, Macon, GA 31217—doors at 5:30 PM, music from 6-9PM.

Joey Stuckey Alive Day 2025 is a free, family-friendly music festival that celebrates the day that Joey successfully beat the brain tumor that was “supposed” to take his life as a child. In 2017, Macon’s mayor and city council recognized Joey Stuckey Alive Day as an official celebration and honored it with a proclamation. Alive Day is designed to encourage folks to come together to revel in the joy of life through music and to celebrate their own personal triumphs against adversity.

This year’s festival features the music of pianist extraordinaire Tom Rule at 6PM and Macon’s official music ambassador Joey Stuckey with Charles Arnold at 7PM.  We are so excited to offer a unique culmination to our festival at 8 PM that includes three Georgia legends performing a songwriters-in-the-round style set—Caroline Aiken, Diane Durrett, and Liz Melendez.

Chances are that if you are a true music enthusiast, especially of guitar-driven Southern rock and blues, you have heard of Macon, Georgia’s official music ambassador Joey Stuckey. The blind producer and recording artist launched a new music festival in his hometown on September 29, 2017. The festival, “Joey Stuckey Alive Day,” hosted an array of talented musicians from across the state of Georgia. This free, family-friendly event was held in celebration of the anniversary of Stuckey’s surviving brain tumor surgery as a child. While the brain tumor left Stuckey blind and with other health challenges, his parents started celebrating the anniversary of the successful removal of the brain tumor as a way to turn what could have been a traumatic experience for a child into a triumphant experience!

Stuckey sees his “Alive Day” as a chance to connect with family, friends and fans and to revel in the joy of living and music. It is a day dedicated to positivity and to uplifting the community. The inaugural concert featured 8 artists, a variety of activities for families, food trucks, perfect weather and over 500 music-lovers in attendance! Mayor Robert Reichert honored Stuckey by issuing a proclamation naming September 29th “Joey Stuckey’s Alive Day in Macon/Bibb.” The second annual festival in 2018 saw around 1500 attendees.

Says Stuckey, “The outpouring of love and support is humbling. I am looking forward to this year’s festival!”

The Blu-ray contains all of this material on a single disc with the 5.1 Surround Material presented in DTS-HD-MA and the stereo tracks in Hi-Res Stereo. The CD features Steven Wilson’s 2025 Stereo Mixes, the Elemental Mixes and the alternate version of Devil’s Triangle originally assembled for the, now unavailable, Sailors’ Tales boxed set.

This is the most complete edition of “In the Wake of Poseidon” ever assembled.

When “In The Wake of Poseidon” was first issued in 1970, Melody Maker ran the unforgettable headline: “If Wagner were alive he’d work with King Crimson”. Stranger still, this was just two months after King Crimson had issued a single “Cat Food” & appeared on Britain’s Top of the Pops miming – as all bands did in those days on the TV show – to a pre-recorded playback of the song.

Strangest of all was, how could a single and an album have even been recorded, when the band had split up in December 1969 following their debut US tour and release of their acclaimed “In The Court of the Crimson King” mere weeks before that? The answer, not for the first or last time in the band’s lengthy career, was Robert Fripp’s determination to keep the band going – whatever it took. In the case of “Poseidon” this involved hiring leaving KC members Michael Giles & Greg Lake and former Giles, Giles & Fripp member Peter Giles as guest musician & bringing in players who would all feature on future KC albums: Keith Tippett, Mel Collins and Gordon Haskell. The result was an album that claimed the band’s highest ever UK chart position (No. 4) and consolidated its position as one of the most original and experimental groups to emerge from the Underground Scene.

For an album that shouldn’t have been recorded by a band that didn’t exist, “In The Wake of Poseidon” continues to intrigue and delight King Crimson fans.

When Steven Wilson first mixed Lizard in stereo and 5.1 with Robert Fripp in 2009, he commented: “For me Lizard has always been an album that was too big for stereo to contain. I’ve always felt that if presented in the right way, I could make a case for this being the most experimental rock record ever made. It’s extraordinary what they’re doing on this album. In terms of fusing free-jazz with progressive rock for me there’s almost no parallel.”

Now, in 2025, Steven has returned to that album and the new mixes merely serve to confirm that analysis.

The 2009 mixes – released at the same time as the much better known Red and In The Court of the Crimson King, did much to focus fan attention on an album which was sometimes overlooked in the Crimson catalogue; Red, Court, Larks’ Tongues in Aspic, Discipline – the various KC incarnations all seemed to have definitive albums which represented certain periods in the band’s ever-changing development but Lizard – a single album group with an expanded line-up which was never played live, a healthy infusion of jazz players and influences, a radical departure from the two previous Crim album releases and more musical ambition than many band’s entire careers – seemed almost forgotten.

But if any album was going to benefit from the more detailed audio that Hi-Resolution and 5.1 Surround created, it was Lizard, and fans old and new eagerly embraced it. By 2016, the latest touring incarnation of the band began to play pieces from the music on stage for the first time with original members from the original recording – Robert Fripp and Mel Collins visibly enjoying playing Cirkus and parts of Lizard. By 2018 Almost all of Lizard was being played as a complete suite, frequently to the sort of reception normally reserved for the likes of Epitaph or the best known of the Crimson songs.

Now, in 2025, Lizard appears in its most complete form yet. Steven Wilson’s new stereo and 5.1 mixes reveal fresh details in the original recordings, the Atmos mix is one of his most ambitious yet working with a recording that always has more to give to en expanded soundstage. If Steven’s mixes detail the best that can possibly be had from the album as presented, then David Singleton’s Elemental mixes probe the nuances of the original recordings and sessions, bringing (previously) background performances to the fore, adding alternate takes of individual performances and exploring different angles for mixing each piece. Working separately and with different remits, the producers bring fresh perspectives to this most intriguing of recordings.

Complementing all of this material, the Blu-ray disc also features Alex R. Mundy’s mixes of every single session from the original 1970 recording sessions along with the original 30th anniversary stereo master.

A CD is also included featuring Steven Wilson’s 2025 stereo mixes of the album and a selection of the Elemental mixes – including the title track.

DGM & Panegyric proudly present…

One of the highlights of the King Crimson 50th anniversary CD/Blu-ray editions to date has been King Crimson producer David Singleton’s series of Elemental Mixes as he utilises the full spectrum of available studio sessions for each album to produce very different takes on the familiar songs and pieces.

This is especially true of Lizard where the ambition of the material, the much-expanded line-up of musicians – the background of many of them in the jazz rather than the rock world – and the number of takes recorded, resulted in a large amount of material to be considered for this album.

There was enough material for David to be able to mix and produce alternate takes for every piece from the original album.

As well as giving great insight into the recordings, the nature of Elemental Mixes allows for different takes from individual musicians to be included – sometimes alongside one another – in a way that would never be considered in the formulation of the original album.

David comments that “When I was working on the Elemental mixes, I jokingly described them as ‘Lizard for those who don’t like Lizard’. They were a complete revelation. Lizard is the one album which, in its initial incarnation, never quite convinced me. And yet these Elemental mixes, with their opportunity to look ‘under the hood’ of the album, revealed something fresh, wonderful and astonishing. So, if you are a King Crimson fan, who like me, has never quite taken Lizard to your heart, then these are essential listening. And hopefully equally fascinating to those who already love the album”.

Presented as a single 200gram LP and including the complete album in Elemental Mixes form, running in the same sequence as the original album, this release showcases Lizard in a very different manner to how it’s previously been heard.

Lizard’s reputation has grown, deservedly so, in recent years as old and new audiences alike rediscovered the album, initially when it was first remixed for new Stereo and 5.1 Surround Sound editions in 2009 by Steven Wilson and then as much of it was performed live for the first time in concerts by the most recent King Crimson line-up between 2016 and 2018.

Deep Energy Orchestra Unveils Expansive New Album The Science of Sound on 7D Media Feat. Members of Snarky Puppy, Kansas, King Crimson, The 4th Dimension, Shakti & Others!

For Immediate Release

Deep Energy Orchestra Unveils Expansive New Album The Science of Sound on 7D Media Feat. Members of Snarky Puppy, Kansas, King Crimson, The 4th Dimension, Shakti & Others!

Deep Energy Orchestra will release its third studio album, The Science of Sound, on October 24, 2025, through 7D Media. Conceived and led by composer, producer, and bassist Jason Everett (aka Mister E), the album represents a culmination of global collaboration, complex composition, and genre-defying instrumentation.

Following the ensemble’s critically acclaimed albums Playing With Fire (2018) and The Return (2020), this new release builds on the orchestra’s distinctive fusion of Indian classical rhythms, progressive rock, jazz, funk, and orchestral textures.

The Science of Sound brings together an exceptional roster of internationally recognized artists, including:
Joe Deninzon, electric violinist of the band Kansas
Gary Husband, legendary jazz fusion keyboardist and drummer (John McLaughlin, Allan Holdsworth)
Trey Gunn, Warr guitarist and longtime member of King Crimson
Adam Holzman, former keyboardist for Miles Davis and collaborator with Steven Wilson
V. Selvaganesh, renowned Indian percussionist (Shakti, Masters of Percussion)

Additional contributors include Mark Lettieri (Snarky Puppy), U. Rajesh, Mahesh Vinayakram, Radhika Iyer, John Wubbenhorst, Eric “Doc” Smith, and a full string section featuring violin, viola, and cello.

A Cohesive Musical Narrative

The album features eight compositions, six of which were written by Everett, with additional works contributed by John Wubbenhorst (“The Dancers”) and U. Rajesh with Ganesh Kumar (“Fireflies”). Each piece reflects Everett’s commitment to exploring rhythmically advanced and melodically rich material while remaining grounded in ensemble interplay.

Tracks like “Morning Over Madrid” and “Solar Playground” balance compositional precision with space for improvisation. “Captain Quirk” highlights Deninzon and Holzman in tight counterpoint, while “The Secrets of Subtraction” explores tension and release through intricate call-and-response melody. The closing track, “Stargazing,” offers a meditative resolution that underscores the album’s emotional breadth.

Production and Vision

The album was produced and arranged by Jason Everett, with engineering, mixing, and mastering by Don Gunn (Soundgarden, Peter Frampton). The sound is immersive and detailed, capturing the dynamic range and nuance of each performer while presenting a unified, expansive sonic experience.

“The Science of Sound is about exploring how music can communicate across genres, cultures, and traditions,” says Everett. “It’s a collaborative work that honors the strengths of every artist involved, while serving a larger musical vision.”

Says Joe Deninzon (Kansas), “Deep Energy Orchestra embodies the influences of Mahavishnu Orchestra, Shakti, and a wide array of jazz/rock fusion and Middle Eastern influences. Music that has influenced me immensely and always gives me a dopamine rush when I play it. It’s an honor to be a part of this beautiful project with such world class musicians!”

Here’s what’s been said about Jason Everett and Deep Energy Orchestra:

Through his performance and compositional work, Jason has built respect with major members of the Indian music community and has been hailed by influential guitarists and bassists.” – Geoffrey Larsen, Musical Director of Seattle Metropolitan Chamber Orchestra

Everett delivers memorable melodies rendered with Eastern vocal vibrato, and engaging ensemble improvisation – all over a spectrum of ever-shifting world grooves and natural-sounding odd meters.” – Bass Guitar Magazine

Jason’s impressive bass work will dazzle, but his playing transcends the instrument to become a pure source of expression. His compositions are equally full of wonder and atmosphere for a sonic journey. A top-notch musician!”– Kevin Johnson NoTreble Bass Magazine

This is now my fourth time listening to Deep Energy Orchestra’s Playing with Fire. Again, I had absolutely no idea on what I was going to expect by listening to this incredible project. I wouldn’t call them a super group, because it would be too much of a cop-out. They are a family by working together as a team. And for me, Playing with Fire brings the Octet as one.” – Zachary Nathanson, Echoes and Dust

Playing with Fire sort of hovers over and moves between two camps—progressive rock and progressive raga—of progressive jazz. Its gemstone is “Resolve/Improv/Caravan,” a twenty-minute journey through outer and inner space that spans an encyclopedia of styles and sounds: Everett’s bass stomps and glides behind the strings’ snakecharming melody, then steps out front to continue oscillating between mellow and raging, and later recites a floating tone poem; Selvaganish at first plays but then breaks into vocalizing his tabla part; Gunn sears your ears with his closing solo; and all this comes together, drifts apart, and comes back.” – Chris M. Slawecki, All About Jazz

Not one prone to comparators, but musically, and in the Western hemisphere, John McLaughlin’s Mahavishnu Orchestra, along with the much lauded Shakti album from 1975 must surely poke their heads around the corner.” – Bob Mulvey, The Progressive Aspect

International Prog Collective Ferkaad To Release Debut Album “A Different Kind Of Animosity” October 31st, 2025

For Immediate Release

International Prog Collective Ferkaad To Release Debut Album “A Different Kind Of Animosity” October 31st, 2025

International progressive rock collective Ferkaad will release their debut album “A Different Kind of Animosity” on October 31st, 2025. Founder Zigor Munoz has assembled a diverse, global cast of musicians from all walks of life to craft this new album of instrumental progressive rock. Legendary keyboardist Derek Sherinian (Dream Theater, Black Country Communion, Planet X) appears on the title track, which also opens the album.

Ferkaad is an ever-shifting collective led by (mostly so far active in the metal genre) bassist and composer Zigor Munoz, dedicated to pushing the boundaries of instrumental progressive music. Each album is a new chapter, with a fresh lineup of adventurous musicians joining to explore sonic storytelling without words.

The project was born from a spontaneous improv night in Singapore at the tail end of the Covid era. What started as a one-off jam session—just Zigor on bass, Aussie jazz drummer Anthony Howe, and Cuban percussionist Pablo Calzado—quickly revealed deeper creative potential. Listening back to the subpar quality phone recordings, Zigor realised there was an album waiting to emerge. Thus, Ferkaad was born: a musical laboratory for experimentation and progressive expression.

Ferkaad’s debut album, “A Different Kind of Animosity,” features Zigor Munoz and guitarist/producer Niels van der Steenhoven at its core, with a rotating cast of guest musicians from around the globe. This diverse album was recorded across Haarlem, Den Haag, Rotterdam in the Netherlands, Helsinki, Köln, and Toronto throughout 2024 and 2025, and mixed/mastered by Benni Schäfer at Horus Studios in Hannover, Germany.

Says Zigor, “‘A Different Kind of Animosity’ as a title stems from the times we’re living in. I can’t believe it’s 2025 and we’re still killing each other, and we can’t get to agree on much for long.”

The concept behind the new album is to express in music things you don’t need lyrics for. Says Zigor, “Half the album are ideas that came to mind one afternoon sitting on my couch at home and the other half hit me in studio as I was finishing the recording of the first half. So, in a way you could say the first half took a few months and the second half took all of 20 minutes to create. I am talking about the basis for the songs of course which I initially wrote on bass, not the final product.”

Ferkaad’s story is one of constant evolution. With each new album, different musicians will be invited to join in, ensuring every release is a unique blend of personalities and influences. Ferkaad’s upcoming second album, “In Marvelous Hindsight”, will see the band teaming up with Lex van der Zwaal (who’s a guest on the debut album) for a fresh take on Ferkaad’s progressive, evocative sound. Zigor and Lex plan to begin recording “In Marvelous Hindsight” in autumn this year.

The band’s ever-changing lineup guarantees that no two albums are alike, but the commitment to instrumental storytelling and progressive exploration remains at the core.

In closing, Zigor has this to impart: “Thanks for taking time out of your day to listen to what we’ve put together. Instrumental music has the magic ability to truly allow everyone to give the music their own personal meaning when they listen. No lyrics to derail you there so just enjoy and once more, thanks for listening!”

“A Different Kind of Animosity” will release on October 31st, 2025. A single from the album will be released each month leading up to the album’s release. Keep an eye on the Ferkaad social media pages for more information.

BASSIST/COMPOSER BRYAN BELLER RELEASES “CALM BEFORE THE STORM” REMIX EP

For Immediate Release

BASSIST/COMPOSER BRYAN BELLER RELEASES “CALM BEFORE THE STORM” REMIX EP

The Aristocrats’ bassist refocuses and reimagines select material from his last solo release before “Scenes From The Flood”

Bassist Bryan Beller – widely known for anchoring The Aristocrats (Beller + Guthrie Govan/gtr + Marco Minnemann/dr), Joe Satriani, Dethklok, Steve Vai and Mike Keneally – revisits and reimagines parts of his last solo album before both the birth of The Aristocrats and his seminal work Scenes From The Flood (2019), with the remix EP Calm Before The Storm.

Releasing digitally, it focuses on three compositions that represent the core journey of Beller’s 2008 release Thanks In Advance. Those songs – “Greasy Wheel”, “Cave Dweller” and “Love Terror Adrenaline/Break Through” – also all contain Aristocratic lineage of some kind, which makes for an interesting look back.

“In the very first gig with Guthrie Govan and Marco Minnemann at the NAMM show in 2011,” says Beller, “we each brought two solo compositions for a six-song set. Those songs ended up on our 2012 live album, so lots of folks heard the live trio arrangements of those pieces. Meanwhile I was a very young and inexperienced producer back in 2008, and while I was proud of the studio versions of those tunes at the time, I recently thought, ‘Man, I’d like another crack at mixing those. I think there’s more there.’ Also, 2008 is a million years ago in today’s ‘forever now’ culture, and there’s probably people out there who don’t even know this stuff exists. So why not reintroduce it with a fresh take?”

Beller once again called upon sonic sherpa Forrester Savell (Karnivool, Bear McCreary) to remix the three tunes. After mixing Scenes From The Flood and the latest Aristocrats album DUCK (2024), Savell was clearly the right choice to set the soundstage for a new experience.

With “Greasy Wheel” and “Cave Dweller” appearing on The Aristocrats’ Boing, We’ll Do It Live (2012), “Love Terror Adrenaline” contained a unique marker in Beller’s solo catalog: It’s the only work featuring then-future Aristocrats drummer Marco Minnemann.

“’Love Terror Adrenaline/Break Through’ was an intensely complex and emotionally charged 10-minute piece,” Beller explains, “about experiencing and getting beyond a panic attack caused by all sorts of inner demons. I wanted the song to reflect that struggle, and it’s a beast. I didn’t know Marco that well back then, but I’d played a couple of gigs with him for ex-Frank Zappa guitarist Mike Keneally. There was an intensity and aggression in the way Marco tackled the most difficult passages that instinctively felt right to me. So I brought both Marco and Mike onto this nightmare piece, and they really did incredible things with it.”

The EP also features performances by drummers Joe Travers (Zappa Plays Zappa, Eric Johnson) and Toss Panos (Michael Landau, Larry Carlton); guitarists Rick Musallam (Ben Taylor, Carly Simon) and Griff Peters (John Mayer, Billie Myers); and keyboardist Jeff Babko (Jimmy Kimmel Live, Steely Dan, Sheryl Crow).

The title Calm Before The Storm references Beller’s own personal journey at the time, an emotional whipsaw over several years. “I moved to Nashville in 2006 and started working on ‘Thanks In Advance’ right away. The album’s story chaotically worked towards a calm and peaceful vibe in the end, symbolized by the ‘Break Through’ moment after eight minutes of terrorized adrenaline. That’s where I left the narrative, sitting in a space of optimism and gratitude. Then, life went on and…well, a lot of things happened. And The Aristocrats suddenly exploded out of nowhere a couple of years later.”

“Then, in 2013 my marriage failed and I moved from Nashville back to Los Angeles, with a somewhat infamous stop at a crazypants gas station in Texas occurring along the way. I also learned some things about both myself and human nature that were not exactly aligned with my original ‘Thanks In Advance’ vibes. Working through that cognitive dissonance was the origin of Scenes From The Flood, even though it took six more years to bring it to fruition. And the very first idea for that album was ‘The Storm’, a metaphor for what had swept through my life.

“So the calm moment before everything went nuts – that’s where this EP ends. And I thought the material it took to get there deserved a fresh look.”

Track Listing:
1. Greasy Wheel
2. Cave Dweller
3. Love Terror Adrenaline/Break Through

WEIRD BISCUIT TEATIME STARRING DAEVID ALLEN (GONG) CELEBRATES THE 20TH ANNIVERSARY OF DJDDAY REMASTERED WITH FIVE BONUS REMIXES

For Immediate Release

WEIRD BISCUIT TEATIME STARRING DAEVID ALLEN (GONG) CELEBRATES THE 20TH ANNIVERSARY OF DJDDAY REMASTERED WITH FIVE BONUS REMIXES

RELEASED AUGUST 1, 2025

Stockton, NJ – Daevid Allen is well known as the founder of The Soft Machine in 1966 and Gong in 1969. Weird Biscuit Teatime is a studio project that he did in the early 2000s with producer/keyboardist Don Falcone of Spirits Burning, bassist Michael Clare from Daevid Allen’s University Of Errors, and drummer Trey Sabatelli who has worked with Jefferson Starship, The Tubes, and Todd Rundgren.

The band recorded two albums. DJDDAY was the first, recorded and mixed from 2000 to 2004, and then released in England in 2005. For that release, the band considered putting Daevid’s name in the band title. They didn’t and the album got buried in the mass of releases at the time. To avoid making the same mistake twice with the second album, “Elevenses,” the name of the band was changed to Daevid Allen Weird Quartet.

As Falcone explains, “This was a moment beyond Spirits Burning and Daevid, Michael, and Trey being three of many crew members in that collective. With Weird Biscuit Teatime, we had four musicians contributing to a band sound from album start to album finish. Everyone invested in a deep and lasting way. We were able to build upon our past and present, finding a way to dig into being original, mysterious, evocative. This album captures a special time from our quartet — from its inception to the growth and release of our DJDDAY. Twenty years later, now getting an improved mastering as I had always hoped. And in the spirit of the band’s play, five bonus remixes that showcase early or alternative versions of the songs. In January of 2005, Daevid wrote to Michael: ‘Pure radio gnome telepatika! Just finished listening to the CD. WBT is GREAT!’”

Now 20 years later, with a new remaster by Robert Rich and five bonus remixes, DJDDAY arrives with the band name Weird Biscuit Teatime Starring Daevid Allen. A lost masterpiece by the master of psychedelic/progressive music.
